TRS about how (a) moving single characters to Phenotype Stereotype and (b) removing Averted Trope, which was very prevalent on the page and shouldn't even be listed as the trope is not omnipresent: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=1584477139089843500

Can I suggest we find another image for this trope? Alberto Fujimori is a highly controversial figure in Peru who is involved in crimes of corruption and crimes against humanity and I'd rather not give him an undeserved spotlight.

Instead of focusing on relatives that divide us, we should find the absolutes that tie us. Hide / Show Replies

"Add to this the already dark skins of Spaniards (from living in a southerly climate) long before they settled the New World"

This sentence is so wrong it cringes. Spain is located sandwiched between the colder Atlantic Ocean and the warmer Mediterranean Sea, which gives birth to several distinct climates, some of which have sun showing only about half the time. Add to that that, due to how European history goes by, a good chunk of their heritage comes straight out from germanic tribes and, with the exception of some descendants of moors, black africans and some stranded american indians and asians, their skins are way wither than people outside thinks. The idea of spanyards=dark skin stems from Conquistadors subjected to the South American sun and from sailors, both of which have had their skins tanned (sailors tan in part from being out to the sun and in part for the same reason as snow tan, the sun that reflects off from the surface of the sea).

We should add brief notes about this trope to the descriptions of Latin Lover, Spicy Latina, and other Latino/Hispanic-related tropes, don't you think?

BTW, does this part of the Other Wiki's article, which talks about this stereotype, have any relevant info to add?
