If Nathan doesn't identify as either male or female than they should be referred to in a gender-neutral manner.

Doesn't Origami/Ivan have a little Hidden Badassery? His offense and defense are painfully low but he's got legitimate ninja evasion skills, even without his suit of armor, as seen during his fight with Jake.

Is okay for me to do a separated folder for Tiger&Bunny giving how long Kotetsu's and Barnaby's trope list are getting?

Regarding Informed Ability for Barnaby. The trope description says:

"A subtrope of Informed Attribute: A character's skill and abilities are frequently mentioned by the cast, but are nonexistent in practice."

Barnaby's academic prowess was mentioned in-series like... once, I think? with no particular importance. The same goes for his intelligence. We may assume that Barnaby is a bright young man but his intelligence is not a plot point, it's not mentioned frequently (or at all, really), and it's not important in any way aside of being just another way of making him Kotetsu's foil (and vice versa).

Also, regardless whether the trope applies or not, it doesn't warrant any asides about "not being smarter than Kotetsu" or whatever.

Agreed. While Barnaby may be academically more inclined, Kotetsu is the one who has more experience in the hero business. Minored In Ass Kicking entry seems to fit him better.

Can I add The Lancer to his character page? As stated above, he is suppose to be Kotetsu's foil and all.

Can anyone tell me why someone keeps adding Ambiguously Gay to Barnaby's character profile? Even if we ignore the whole "my first love was a woman/girl" bit since that wasn't exactly canon, if you read up on the aforementioned trope you will see that it has nothing to do with the amount of Ho Yay a person is involved in. It has to do with characters who exhibit stereotypically gay mannerisms. Being a bishounen or caring about your hairstyle is not indicative of the trope. (If you want to know what "Camp" really looks like, take a quick glance at Fire Emblem) And another thing — that's the way his hair naturally is (the hair, eyes, glasses and basic facial features are all exactly like Emily Brooks'); so it doesn't even count as a 'style' (regardless of how many times he may visit the hairdresser).

I'll be deleting that entry. If there is strong enough support for it I'll rest my case, but I can't for the life of me see how that can happen. It's very misleading, since being metrosexual / The Dandy (and I don't think he's even that) does not equate to being gay — ambiguously or otherwise.

Totally agree with you! I mean, really — what is up with that? I deleted it the first time because Barnaby does not match the description given in the trope page in any way. I don't know who added it again, but I really do think this one is no-brainer. The Ambiguously Gay trope is much abused, unfortunately; perhaps even more so than the Ho Yay one (even though that's grossly misused in and of itself — just look at the Tiger & Bunny ho yay page!). So much so that nowadays, it's become an outlet for yaoi fangirls' wishful thinking and yaoi haters' sneering. I rarely take anything I see in either of those two pages seriously, since any attempts to try and fix the misinformation cause the sensible tropers to be treated as nitpicky mood-killers.

And nope, Barnaby isn't a Dandy either. Anyone who's read the trope page in question should be able to see that. One shot of him fussing over his jacket and one of him carefully fixing his hair (which, if you ask me, was more out of embarrassment due to Kotetsu's hugging him than actually trying to maintain his hairstyle) doesn't count.

I'm glad to know that someone else sees eye-to-eye with me! As for the Ho Yay trope — there's a discussion going on now about making it YMMV. Needless to say, I completely agree with the idea. But it's been dragging for months and no-one seems to be ready and/or willing to take the leap, so...They should probably make Ambiguously Gay a YMMV too, but that doesn't seem likely to happen anytime soon. I guess I'll just take your advice and ignore the existence of those tropes, then — or at least take anything they say with a grain of salt.

About that hair-fixing scene in ep.23 — you thought that way too? So did I!

I can't remember a single instance of Barnaby lisping, so I would appreciate if someone gave me examples. (As in, more than one example where he's supposed to be lisping and it's not just an accidental mispronounciation that escaped the sound director's attention.)

In any case, as far as I'm aware (which I admit is not much) lisping is not a gay stereotype in Japan so even if Barnaby has a lisp it's not supposed to be a nudge-nudge wink-wink by the creators.

In one of the Jake arc episodes when he's yelling at Kotetsu he starts lisping, but from what I know it's because his voice actor has asthma, not an intentional character quirk.

But... that's not even a lisp. I don't think anyone in Japan thought of it as a lisp.

It seems to me someone just thought it was funny, it became a meme and now half the fandom thinks it's true. (Like how the Tiger&Bunny fan-made wikia lists "Handsome Escape" as one of Barnaby's abilities.)

It's absurd nonsense — don't worry about it. And to think someone actually went and added that to the Speech Impediment trope page and Barnaby's character profile...Oh, sheesh! Do they really hate the guy that much!?

Some kind soul has since deleted those entries, thankfully. As far as I know, fandom memes don't belong anywhere other than on the YMMV page(s).

I'm the "kind soul" in question LOL. I think we've all watched enough anime with their original Japanese soundtracks to be able to judge whether someone has a speech impediment or not. And Barnaby definitely doesn't have anything of the sort.

In the last episode if you read the HeroTV credits you can see that Mary's last name is Rose and Cain's is Morris (also the cameraman is name Orlando Cooper though is doubt it matters)

Because spoilers, I reckon. Just like Pride and Selim Bradley are separate entries on Fullmetal Alchemist.

Regarding Shock and Awe, I'm pretty sure Sky High's higher-end stuff applies. Remember how he bombarded Jake with ball lightning?

You have to check the director's tweeter account. That's also where he clarified that Kotetsu didn't really heal his wounds in Episode 13 (it was just a bluff) and that it would be fixed to look more clear in the BD release and he also give some clues about the next episodes (though, beware, he tends to be misleading).

Ah, I see. Probably warrants an entry for Stuff Blowing Up, though.
