That sounds like a good idea. One page for the ones in the "main" Crystal Gems and one for the "New" Crystal Gems.
Yes, please. It's so long I can't add new things without waiting an eternity for it to be written down
I vote for something like Supporting Crystal Gems. Saying "New" suggests they weren't always around.
That sounds good. Someone get on that and the split should be:
"Main" Gems: Garnet (and her component gems Ruby and Sapphire), Amethyst, Pearl, Steven
"Former and Recent" Gems: Peridot, Lion, Rose Quartz, Bismuth
Edited by TheDogSageHow about just "Main Crystal Gems" and "Other Crystal Gems"? Less of a mouthful than "Former and Recent Crystal Gems". There has to be "Crystal" in there.
Edited by TabsShould forms taken before, and during, Greg's story be added? (such as Child!Amethyst and Cotton Candy Garnet).
Hide / Show RepliesWhy not? Preferably under a labelnote (which I've botched a few times, so I'm not doing it).
Perhaps we should start adding tropes to Peridot's folder that only apply to her after she changes her allegiance. That way, we can flesh out her character post Heel–Face Turn, and leave her other folder on the Other Gems page for when she was still a villain.
Hide / Show RepliesI don't know if that would work very well personally. It would probably be easier to keep all her tropes on the Villains page and spoiler the post-Heel-Face Turn ones.
I decided to add "Straw Nihillist" to ruby due to her quote in the answer. does anyone else believe this should count?
Is there a point to both tagging Peridot as a spoiler character while moving her tropes here, since that leaves a pretty conspicuous absence on the Homeworld Gems page?
Edited by SomeRandomBastard Hide / Show RepliesAlso, wouldn't make more sense to divide the character and put all the tropes for "Post-Message Received" Peridot in The Crystal Gems" page until after it stops being a spoiler?
I think it should go back to Peridot being listed on the Other Gems page, without an entry here. At this point, the large part of the series has her acting as an antagonist to the main cast, and even right now (Log Date 7-15-2) it's hard to call her a full-fledged Crystal Gem, given the dynamic of the group and the circumstances surrounding her betrayal - she didn't want to defect from Homeworld to join the main cast, she wanted to appease both sides and said a few words too much to her superior.
I think it should go back to having Peridot on Other Gems page, with a link to it under the Spoiler Character marker on the Crystal Gems page. I've seen it done this way with other redeemed characters, such as Prince Zuko from Avatar: the Last Airbender, and it seems to keep the switch as discreet as possible while still acknowledging the change of allegiance, without taking the confusing step of separating the character page into two.
I restored Peridot's section on Other Gems. Hopefully it sticks.
''“You want a planet? I’ll give you a planet! Heck, I’ll give you your own solar system! No, I’ll give you a house... in Boca Raton!I think splitting tropes about Peri between two pages will only cause a mess. I allowed myself to edit the comment on the Steven Universe — Crystal Gems page.
Edited by BarthVaderThanks, man.
''“You want a planet? I’ll give you a planet! Heck, I’ll give you your own solar system! No, I’ll give you a house... in Boca Raton! Is it really appropriate to have the more human-looking fusions identified as Bishonen Line? Matt Mc Burnett has confirmed a couple times that a fusion's appearance doesn't have anything to do with their stability or healthy relationship status (just whatever looks cool), and the more powerful fusions tend to be less human-looking (Sugilite, Malachite, Alexandrite), which works against the idea of Bioshonen Line anyway, they're not getting more powerful as they look more human.
Hide / Show RepliesI agree that Bishonen Line is probably not the right trope. One thing though: even if that quote about it being whatever looks cool is applicable to the Crystal Gem fusions (Opal,Sugilite, Rainbow Quartz, etc), I still find it very hard to believe that Malachite's freakiness is unrelated to how poorly-matched Lapis and Jasper are and the circumstances of their fusion.
Is it worth mentioning that Amethyst's first season form takes a couple of traits from young Greg? The rip above the knee and all the hair? When she meets him for the first time, she even says "I really like your hair!"
Hide / Show RepliesThat's a really cool observation. Maybe she did base her current form on Young Greg, after all she was rather chummy with him and looked much different before meeting him. But it's still ambiguous, thus probably doesn't go here. I'll go post it on WMG for you.
Spoilerific much? Shouldn't we stop putting fusions and gems apart to avoid obvious spoilers?
Hide / Show RepliesAgreed, not to mention that certain recent additions are in DIRE NEED of spoiler tags
Is it really necessary to have Ruby and Sapphire's character tabs say "Spoiler Character" anymore? It's not going to be a secret for the next two seasons after all
Hey, I've moved to a new account! I go by Silver Glyph now.I noticed that with the release of "Reformed," which gave a quick description of most of the characters, Pearl was described as neurotic. Some quick research into the condition later I realized that her being neurotic described her, "ambiguous disorder," down to the smallest detail. With most of my time being put into lurking, and with this account being made just because I noticed this and felt like I could add something, I figured it would be easier to leave this here rather than changing it directly.
Edited by Scuse_MeWhen Amethyst ate the cloud, does anyone else think she might have gotten it from Rose's room?
This page has gotten too long (it's producing the "too long" warning when edited.)
I suggest breaking it up into the "main" Crystal Gems in the present day (Garnet, Amethyst, Pearl, and Steven, as the intro theme says), and moving everyone else on the page (Rose Quartz, Lion, Ruby, Sapphire, Peridot, Bismuth) to a separate page for Supporting Crystal Gems or some such thing.
This would have the side-benefit of confining the spoiler characters to a separate page - that's not the main reason to do it (the page is too long, and that seems like the logical way to divide it up), but it'd be a nice side-benefit of that division.
