So does Chloe start to qualify for being holoX Breakout Characte currently? First thing is that in their 3D debut, Chloe was the first one to get hers 3D model before Iroha, with it otherwise being in ascending order. She is also the first one to get a figure of her alongside La+. It does seem like hololive is using her popularity for marketing purposes.

Iroha 3D debuted before Chloe though? They went in reverse debut order.

Not sure about the figs.

I have notice Chloe has become more of a Butt-Monkey much like La+. If it's not Laplus whose the Butt-Monkey, Chloe takes the role:

  • She's the biggest klutz out of the other holoX members
  • Lui constantly rejecting her (especially towards Chloe's marriage plans as delusions, that was brutal)
  • Making one too many mistakes (sometimes she's late to the realization)
  • Being more bullyable (mostly by chat)
  • her not bathing has become a Running Gag

yeah.... a total Butt-Monkey.

maybe i'm worrying too much, but is anyone on this site gonna get into any trouble if we use Chloe's official render? i just remembered that Parsley is part of the "banned artist" tag on Danbooru (they're listed as "parsley-f"), and that's for artists that specifically ask Danbooru to take down all their art from the site.

I'm not sure how that works to be really honest. The image was taken directly from Parsley's Twitter if that helps any.

yeah, i'm honestly not sure if all banned artists on Danbooru are strictly that way for DMCA/copyright purposes (maybe some of them just don't like the site), and i also just remembered that Parsley's other works are elsewhere on this site (like KanColle). still doesn't hurt to ask though

This is why we only use "official" artwork, since they are in a sense public representation of a character. It would be another story if it was part of the merchandise. Also looking at the description, "banned artist" is a booru-specific thing since they have been contacted directly and we aren't a booru.

Why aren't we using official artwork to begin with? There's that debate on Kronii's pic as well, and I'm wondering "doesn't she have an official profile on the Hololive website?"

She does, but the only image available there is the render that used to be on Council's page. Kronii curiously lacks an "official" profile artwork, and the only other illustrator art she has thus far isn't any better than the one on the article right now. Arco Wada seems to be preoccupied with Fate stuff most of the time as always.

Ahh, okay, so I'm guessing a similar issue is happening here, then?

Asoktenchea Since: Aug, 2020

There's no issue here. It clearly states in the page Freecom linked above that "banned artist" refers only to "artists who have requested for their works to not be uploaded to Danbooru". This has nothing to do with us (TV Tropes), Freecom was only making sure that this is the case.

Also, all images used in the Characters pages are official art, since afaik they're all drawn by their respective character designer in one way or another.

Does Iroha have a greeting catchphrase? I've heard "Not Nin Nin, yes Jakin Jakin de gozaru" a few times, but not sure if it's set in.

I would like for another trope to be added by the 6th gen as a whole. the Five-Man Band trope. Which has one minor problem when it comes to Chloe.

The Leader: La+ The Lancer: Lui The Smart Girl: Koyori The Big Guy: Iroha

then comes Chloe.

Does she play The Heart? The Chick? Does she really play the part? Does this trope really apply to HoloX?

I'm not sure if an all girl group can work for Five-Man Band.

As for Iroha, I see "gozaru" as her phrase that some of the other girls have copied to tease her.

Five-Man Band can have any gender in it. No restrictions on that.

I keep seeing the title being officially spelled (and by everyone) as "holoX" (without capitalization), do we need to follow it?

If is is official stylized as "holoX", the yes, we'll need to respect it.

It's a meme phrase that the chat created during her debut stream when she was discussing the YMD acronym, as mentioned above.

Ya-Ma-Da, just a random name.

So just to ask this, is La+'s name written in the right order in the folder? I believe that she is meant to be an alien, and the theme with the other "alien" members "Moona, Astel" is that their names are written in western order, even in Japanese.

Yeah I'm not sure why they're not written exactly as they're presented in their literal introduction cards.

endwaar Since: Mar, 2016

I was thinking that myself, because it has the ・ in the center, indicating that the order of the name is Western, rather than Japanese. So her surname is Darknesss and her given name is La+. The only exceptions to this seems to be Amelia, whose Japanese name has the ・ but is actually in the incorrect order for that to be true.

Ollie also has the ・ in between her names, when written in Japanese, of course, and Reine does too. But Anya and Moona do, too, and their names do seem to be in the order implied by that. So... who knows?

I would say that I think we should switch it, but I'm not sure that's correct by the standards we've set.

@DRCEQ

I believe the reason for that is because in the folders, their name is written in western order as this is an English website. This seems to be the convention for most Japanese works on TV Tropes. In their introduction cards however the name is written in the order they were originally in to match their Japanese equivalent.

@endwaar

You're partially correct about the ・ in the middle; this almost always indicate that the name is in 'western order'. However, this isn't actually true, as the only thing that ・ really does is tell us that the name (or the person themselves) is non-Japanese, meaning it isn't necessarily First name, Last name order.

To that end, I bring up this discussion of name orders for Holo ID members. As you can see here, the First Name, Last Name convention doesn't exist in Indonesia, meaning their name should always be written in the order they were originally presented. This notion is supported by the fact that some Holo ID members use the 1st name as their "first name" (Moona note , Anya), while others use the 2nd name as their "first name" (Risu note , Iofi, Ollie, Reine)

This also extends to Holo EN members, where despite half of their names being written with ・ (がうる・ぐら, ワトソン・アメリア, セレス・ファウナ, オーロ・クロニー, ハコス・ベールズ), it's very clearly stated by all of them that the 2nd name is their "first name".

Now back to the question at hand, should La+'s name be written as "La+ Darknesss" or "Darknesss La+"?

The answer is "La+ Darknesss", because that's the order she personally uses herself. Therefore, we should respect that given she isn't meant to be Japanese, like OP pointed out.
