Chekhov's Lecture was renamed to Chekhov's Classroom for rampant misuse. There is not enough context in this example to tell if it is misused or not.

Having the trope tell you to check out another trope listed further on the page for better details isn't acceptable? I wrote that so that I didn't have to post the same thing for both tropes twice on the same page.

  • In the Playstation 2 game, Motoko yells at Batou early on in the game because she hates it when he calls her by her name (instead of Major) while they're on duty as members of Section 9. At the end of the game, while Motoko is engaged in melee combat with a Criminal Doppelgänger of herself, Batou figures out which one is the real Motoko when the fake responds to him calling out her name, and shoots her accordingly. He knew the real Motoko isn't that easily distracted.

I suppose I could rewrite that part of the Spot the Imposter entry to pothole the Chekhov's Classroom trope to let people know that it was in effect for that example.

Despoilered Obfuscating Disability. Whoever did it went against our Handling Spoilers policy by blanking out the entire example, making it worthless.

Also partially despoilered a number of other examples with the same problem.
