Edited by RandomDSdevel Jamming out to some random anime or game theme or song as usual. — RandomDSdevelI wanted to start the Just For Laughs Gags page but my English is really poor and I actually don't know what category it belongs. JFL Gags is a silent comedy/hidden camera reality television show from Canada, famous for some of its elaborated pranks and the use and parody of many tropes.
You can watch most of the episodes on Youtube. The Other Wiki also has an article here
Edited by sanzanoI've started the page for Portal The Flash Version, but I still need help on the formatting, indexing, and applicable tropes. Any help is much appreciated.
There is an easier way to loseI want to add the "Inspector Pekkala" series to the list. How do I do that?
Someone explain to me—what happens if you see an item on this list that you'd like to create a page for? Do you need to get authorized, or obtain permission to do so? Or can you just get to it, as long as you already have a summary and/or a list of tropes in mind?
Hide / Show RepliesWorks Pages Are A Free Launch. Though it probably helps to start off the page in the correct namespace rather than Main/.
Added Chronicles of the Cursed Sword manga(manwha) to the list. It needs a summary and some tropes. It's a shame this manga isn't mentioned at all.
It's got its own page now: Frequent Redlinks.
There is a fine line between recklessness and courage — Paul McCartney...umm, yeah, it's still offline. It's been that way for at least a month and a half.
How do you add to the list?Becase there is a Book that deserves to at least be on the list, but I'm new and don't know how to add it.
I'd make the page myself, but I can't firgure out how to do it...
Searching for The Source Of All Heart Ache Hide / Show RepliesYou insert the Wiki Word name of the work, with necessary prefixes, to the list in the folder for its category in approximate alphabetical order (not counting wiki prefixes). A book would probably go in the Literature folder.
Entries are supposed to be signed by the person who added them — which, judging from the thread above this one, is double-edged.
There is a fine line between recklessness and courage — Paul McCartneyOkay,I did this, now I need help making the page...
Searching for The Source Of All Heart AcheQuestion: The Quiet Earth is on this page as needing a summary for the film. The film was based on a book, which is very difficult to find; the basic premise is the same, but practically every other detail has been changed. Should the book and the film be given the same page, or should they have separate pages? If they need to have the same page, I really can't do anything with the novel, because I can't find a copy. If they can have separate pages, then I'd be happy to make a page for the film.
Hide / Show RepliesIf the only thing the film and the book have in common is the premise, then that implies that the film is a Dolled Up Installemt. Both works should get pages.
Go ahead and make the film page whenever. I'll see about the book.
There is a fine line between recklessness and courage — Paul McCartneyHello, all! What is the policy for "tagged" entries on the Needing Summary page? There are a few show pages I could implement, but they seem to be spoken for and have been for a considerable span. I know real life gets busy, and I don't wish to step on anyone's toes, but if it has been a number of weeks or months, is it all right to go ahead and start building a page anyway?
Hide / Show RepliesThe signature is the person who added the suggestion. If that person could fill the suggestion, they likely would have. Build that page pronto.
There is a fine line between recklessness and courage — Paul McCartneyCreated main page entry for Up in Smoke. Removed entry from this list.
I gave Globulation it's own page. I'm not a good writer, so I just copied the blurb from the site's main page, if that's all right.
Someone else will have to index it, though.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."I've never troped before, so sorry if I crash and burn.
Do we have a page for Tokyo Boys and Girls? I didn't see it.
Removed Fantastic Max from the list.
I wrote a summary for it and added one example. I plan to add more to it as time goes on.
I'm still fairly new to editing here, and I don't really know how to stick it into a certain index.
Edited by rac216 Hide / Show RepliesIt's pretty easy to do once you're used to it.
First you need to find an appropriate index. The easiest way to do this would be to look at a similar type of work, and see what index that work is on. For this one, it looks like Animated Shows is a good bet.
Next, got to the index page and edit it to add your example as a new bullet point. Make sure to put your new entry in alphabetical order with the other examples.
Once you've done that, save your changes and you are good to go. If you check your work page after you've saved, it should be showing on the index you just added to.
Hope this helps!

... Hide / Show RepliesMy guess is that a lot of people don't really even know this page exists.
I know what you mean, though. I've been doing my best to clear works off the list by giving them a summary, but I probably add 10 times more than I remove each time I take a wiki-walk.
Visit my contributor page to assist with the "I Like The Cheeses" project! If we are listing what launches are made like in the archives... launched Epic Battle Fantasy. Anyways, should the flash games folder be merged with the video games folder? Flash games are mostly listed under video games in the trope pages...
This has come up before. Here's what I said back then ( and I am adding new points in purple:
Because music pages are harder to write. Odds are, at least one of these conditions holds for most tropers:
- It's uncertain when this band or artist started producing.
- It's uncertain when, or if, this band or artist finished producing. There may be albums that are effectively in Dis Continuity because the record company isn't promoting them. And musicians who can no longer get records released through major outlets often keep touring.
- Since people tend to cut works and creator articles if they don't have a certain amount of info at creation, anyone who creates such an article needs to have the relevant info at hand. The active years and discography are critical for musicians, but they are hard to cover accurately unless you are a fan.
- The band that needs a listing has had high turnover. There are a few bands that have had 100% turnover, in which case one must think carefully about what one is listing. (For instance, the Four Tops was a classic band in its time, but now is the same band In Name Only.) Likewise, one must determine whether The Band Minus the Face is worth covering.
- For shorter-lived bands, little is known about them but the existence of their singles. At least for many of them. And when it's hard to get more than a stub's worth of info anywhere...
- For some bands, Complaining About Shows You Dont Like is hard to avoid, justified or not. (I am trying to imagine a fair and balanced The Backstreet Boys entry.)
Thank you very much. It is just that music is the largest category (by a WIDE margin) of things that need summary.
...I know, and I feel a little bad about it.
There is a fine line between recklessness and courage — Paul McCartneyRemoved Parenthood from the list. There was already a trope list for the newest series, I added a description for the movie and TV shows. If anyone who knows more about the franchise, adding trope would be appreciated.
Edited by JumpingzombieI'm not sure on policy. Is it all right to keep the novel and movie pages merged? There are some huge differences between book and film but The Guns of Navarone is a borderline case of Adaptation Displacement, because the film has Gregory Peck and other A-list celebrities of the era and is on the whole much more memorable than the book by Alistair MacLean. (Then again this was all well before my time, maybe I'm underestimating the popularity of MacLean.) Perhaps the best solution would be to leave the redirect in place, but separate the trope list on said page into Book and Film examples.
Edited by IceCrystalnotreallyatroper: I removed Kanon from the manga list. It has a page called Kanon By Chiho Saito. I didn't create it but I saw it and no one else deleted it from the list.
notreallyatroper: I put Nanatsuiro Drops on the list, but I have a quote and a bunch of tropes ready for it. It just needs someone to write the summary.
Hide / Show Repliesnotreallyatroper: To whoever created the page, THANK YOU! *hugs* I added the quote and a nice list of tropes.
If I wanted to add a web-original to this list, where would I put it? Would it get its own top-level sub-page, or would it go under 'Other?'
