openSong with a chant as a chorus Music
Ok so I'm trying to remember a song I heard on the radio, but I only very vaguely recall it. So for most of it there's a woman singing but when the chorus comes it becomes a man (or group of men) chanting something that sounds like "Slag him off, slag him off, slag him ooooofff" Or similarly "Enough is enough..." The chant voices remind me a bit of the chorus to Tubthumping by Chumbawamba (who do have a song that says "enough is enough..." but sounds totally different.
The song is sort of pop rockish as I recall it. Reminds me of late 90s/early 00s but could be totally wrong on that.
i'd love to find this song. They played it twice in a row when i heard it, but never checked what it was/forgot until now. Thanks in advance!
openSisterhood of Nine
I discovered it's alleged existence in Soldiers of Love, but TV Tropes doesn't have a page on it. From what little I can discover, it has characters named Elizabeth, Lindsay, Helen, Leanne, and Rebecca, all of who are members of said Sisterhood. But without knowing whether it's an animé, comic, film, TV series, cartoon, video game, visual novel, or something else, I can't even confirm that it's even REAL, since "Sisterhood of Nine" is too generic a term for search engines.
openMtv show maybe? Idk
I think this was on mtv, but it was a show where it aired at 11 at night and I remember it starting with a girl staring at her house and her brother lookin at her through the window, also there was an actor there who looked like Bruno mars probably was but I can't remember the name of this show or what ever it was..
openKix network show about pink bunnies in a giant robot? Anime
I'm not entirely sure if it was a dubbed anime or a western piss-take of anime, but it was this stylized CGI show about a trio of rabbits (one or more of which were pink) who piloted a giant robot against some other asshole who would constantly throw new robots into town to screw things up. This has been annoying me for ages and I need to at least know the name of this show. If you guys could help it would be massively appreciated.
openSome book (or books) I read many years ago. Literature
There was a book I read when I was about ten years old. My memories about it are very vague but I do remember that the story was told from the perspective of at least two characters. The first was defenitely a young boy/teenager who had to deliver a package or letter to someone who lived in a very creepy apartment. The other character was a mysterious girl/woman the same age as the boy, or older. From what I can remember she wore a white coat and sunglasses.
Another thing I remember is that the main character lives in the sewers and has a talking book, though this may be from another book I read around the same time. I think I only read the first half of the book, anyway.
What book is this? Any help would be much appreciated.
openLooking for a short story about a fat man and an AutoDoc. Literature
I once read a short story online which had a couple of rather fat people getting their hands on a modified Auto Doc and using it to try and make themselves into physical definitions of Heroic Build and Most Common Superpower only for it to go horribly wrong. I also remember that the male worked as a call centre worker for a medical company. Can someone tell me the name or link to it?
openShow from the 90s Live Action TV
I'm looking for a TV show that ran in the 90s, I think it was a boy and two friends, a girl and another boy, and every week they had a new mystery or something like that? I might be wrong about all of this, because I only remember one moment from one episode:
The protagonist is in a cave and he sees his mother's face in this mirror, it might have been surrounded by crystals, I'm not sure. He talks to her, but the cave collapses and he has to run outside. I guess his mom was dead, since she showed up there? The moment really scared me as a child, which is why it stuck with me.
I realise this isn't much to go on, but I've been wringing my brain for years, and googled it up and down without results, and you tropers have come throguh for me before, so I'll hand it over to you guys.
openMtv show? Maybe
I think this was on mtv, but it was a show where it aired at 11 at night and I remember it starting with a girl staring at her house and her brother lookin at her through the window, also there was an actor there who looked like Bruno mars probably was but I can't remember the name of this show. Also at the end of the episode the girl kisses the guy and I remember they were sitting on the stairs outside. That's all I remember I hope someone knows what I'm talkin about.
openJapanese Talk/Variety Show Live Action TV
While I was in Japan there was a show that we caught a few times on the hotel TV (around maybe 9 pm JST?). I don't remember what channel it was on, but it was a talk show-ish program. The host was a 30-something-year-old average looking man who stood at the center of a half-circle shaped panel of guests. He would ask them questions/bring up topics and they would talk about them, and when someone said something funny or for some other reason, he take this big mallet (that I think had a monster face on it) and hit a button/poll with it (kind of like a whack-a-mole game). There were also skit segments that were more variety show-ish, two of which I remember clearly. There was one part where a man saw a shooting start and just started screaming "MONEY!" at it over and over. The other one had a girl confess her love to a guy, but the guy turns her down because he loves someone else. But since he's too shy/embarrassed to tell her, he asks the first girl to tell her that he loves her. The first girl talks to the second girl about it as if she was confessing her own crush.
openYoung Adult Sci-Fi with Kids "Flying" in Low G Moon Tunnels Literature
I thought this was Heinlein but can't find it in a list of his young adult novels. This is a young adult book set on the moon in the future where there are tunnels in low gravity where if you jump from a high place, you can "fly" down. This is done as a sport. There is a girl who is really good at it, and the protagonist is a boy interested in the girl, and he starts learning the sport. Anyone know this one?
openBurning Coran story
There's a probably apocryphal story about a warlord burning a library, using some rather iffy logic: "If the books are copies of the Coran, they are redundant, and must be burned. If they are not the Coran, they are full of lies, and must be burned."
Anyone know where it's from?
Edited by Chabal2openVariety Show with Monkey puppets VHS Film
From what I remember it was a VHS from maybe the 90's or 80's, it was a stage show that had fancy sets and a lot of puppets. There is only one real segment that I can remember described below. Another important detail would be that the monkeys and the performers sing "She'll be coming around the mountain" and "Sweet Caroline". My sister recalls their being women involved but I only remember the guy. I think he was bald with a mustache because I remember him looking like my uncle.
The segment I remember is the creepy doll one: At one point the male of the group puts away the monkeys. The set is a large house with blue shadows, the music turns really creepy as he walks around looking for something. Then he finds a chest and pulls out a baby doll, they then proceed to sing a happy song about the doll.
The cover of the VHS was the guy sitting with the three monkey puppets by his side and one his shoulder while the crocodile should be at the bottom right. If anyone can remember what this show was called I would be grateful, my whole family remembers this tape but not its name, and if it helps looking back I get a real south vipe from the video. So good luck and thanks again!
openHelp finding this T.V. show episode Live Action TV
Wasn't there this episode in Lizzie Mc Guire (I think there was also one in Braceface) that involved a pool except unlike the "Pool Party" episode, it was at the school pool, Lizzie's class (which were there) and Lizzie and her friends WERE in bathing suits (Animated Lizzie's bathing suit was like this Cyan Blue tankini), it had a "Revenge of the Nerds"-esque plot with these enemy girls, it's comparable to The Mighty B! episode "Dragonflies" (if you've seen both episodes), it had this moral dealing with harassment, i believe it had these British enemy girls rudely interrupt them at the pool and go as far as taking over the school, it was one of the first episodes of the show (i think), and i believe it exists, yet i just can't put my finger on it. I've talked to other people on the internet and they say they remember an episode like that and they found the correct source and it was at a pool. (Same for that Braceface episode but not that much, i've talked to others and they say they remember it also.)
Wasn't there an episode like that?
openPlease Help Me Find This Cartoon! Film
So I'm pretty sure that this cartoon is set in a Latin / Spanish place, and the main four characters are two boys and two girls. All four of them can turn into animals, and they are all colour-coded in a way. One girl wears green and can become a lizard, the other girl wears blue and can become a bird. One boy wears red and can turn into a bull (I think,) and the other boy wears yellow and can turn into a lion. The Lion Boy has a crush on the Bird Girl. They defeat enemies like a hypnotizing toy doll or a super-genius (I think those episodes happened).
openEarly 2000s pc wizard duel game Videogame
You would duel one on one with other wizards using spells and summons. To learn new spells, you would have to beat challenges for each new spell/summon. I think one of the spells was called “engulfing flame” which did fixed damage, and there was a summon that was a turtle. When you activated a spell, the wizard would shout out it’s name. The duel field (I think) had multiple lanes, so you could send summons down different lanes to reach the other wizard to damage them. The summons would walk toward the opponent wizard, and if they reached them they would do damage. If 2 summons reached each other, they would fight. The turtle was so low to the ground that it would go under some spells. So there were spells that would travel mid height, low height, and high height. You could launch spells to attack the opponent’s summons. The art style was 3d isometric, and the camera stayed static. I wish I could remember more, but I never got very far in the game (it was too hard for me at the time).
open90s-2000s Animated Movie or TV show about a kid and a toy spaceship
Recently had a flashback about an animated show/movie (can't remember which) where there was a young boy who had a toy spaceship. I feel like he found it or got it as a gift. He went on adventures with the ship and some action figure characters, though I can't remember what they were...for some reason Penguins come to mind, At one point, I remember a part where he was staring at the wall out of boredom. I know it's vague, but that's all I got.
Edited by JackCrowopenNew Years 1999/ 2000 Documentary About Ancient Prophecies and Y2K Live Action TV
The exact airdate of the program I'm trying to find was December 31st, 1999, at some time between 6:00 pm and 11:50 pm US central time. We thew a party and left the TV on in the living room so we could watch the ball drop in Times Square. Whatever was on TV before the countdown was some sort of entertainment-documentary show, possibly on MSNBC or ABC or the History Channel. It was a run down of some of the most famous world-ending prophecies, like Nostradamus' predictions and the Mayan sunstone "end of the calendar = end of the world" hogwash. The medieval segment had tons of lurid illustrations from biblical manuscripts of the devil and the end times and probably some slow zooms on Hieronymus Bosch paintings thrown in too. I think it was all narrated by a man's voice. I think I recall the program ended by talking about how silly the whole Y2K bug was, with the caveat of "we'll have to wait until the clock strikes midnight to see for sure..."
Any clue what this program might be?
Edited by LeporidaeopenPossibly British show with hotel and rainbow monster? Live Action TV
I barely remember anything about this; hopefully someone does. I watched this show (possibly movie?) when I was perhaps 2 or 3, and I distinctly remember a few details. There was a hotel with many floors, in which th camera would zoom out of one floor and on to another. Each floor contained a character who had a song or something like that. One of the floors had a rainbow monster. This scared me to death when I was little, and I can't for the life of me remember it. Any ideas? I lived in Bermuda at the time so it was most likely a British show but may've been American. It was either a tv show or a movie.
openRussian deserters
Hi, a couple of months ago I heard of a book about two Russian deserters in WW 2 and their journey to escape from the red army. Or maybe it was just about two Russian soldiers trying to survive in Stalingrad? It was supposedly a comedy.
I think it would make a good present for my dad if it's what I think it is, but the date is getting closer, so quick help is appreciated!
what game/show are these two in?
