openUnsuccessful/Unnecessary Heel-Turn? Film
is there anything along the lines of somebody starting with a certain point of view, and evolving their perspective as the plot goes on, but eventually discovers they were actually right in the first place (possibly with dangerous consequences) ?
"heel-face revolving door" sorta works, but i'm looking for something that's not specifically about changing from good to evil to good again. thank you for your help!
open"I hate you!" "I hate you!" *Smooch* Film
A boy and girl are throwing insults at each other, and end up staring deep into each other's eyes in passionate hate. Immediately they start making out. Looks like passionate hate can quickly turn into passionate love.

openDialect Film
Creating the page for The Wild Goose Lake, a Chinese movie. Trying to figure out what trope would describe the movie being filmed entirely in the Wuhan dialect (as opposed to Standard Mandarin) which necessitates subtitles in Standard Mandarin for the general (mainland) Chinese audience.
Edited by Automneopenkids play pretend; then it really happens Film
What is the name of the trope when a kid/s (probably not part of the main cast) is playing and by pure coincidence what ever action s/he are playing suddenly actually happens near by (the action involving a member/s of the main cast) and the kid/s are all like whoaaa!??! Some off the top of my head examples (that I may be remembering wrong) include:
When the action is a coincidence to a game -In the recent Shazam film. A kid is playing with two super hero doll/action figures and he makes them fly into each other. Then, coincidentally, right outside his window the films superhero and supervillain fly into each other. -In one of the Nolan Batman films two kids in the back of a car are using finger guns to pew pew pew a near by car, the car then actually blows up because Batman fired a missle at it from the bat mobile because is was in the way of some important bat business.
Possibly a different trope, when the action is caused by the game, rather than coincidence -In an episode of Family Guy; Steve and his friends find a laptop in Stan’s office and proceed to play the ‘video game’ installed on it only to discover they are controlling an actual CIA drone. -In the film Wargames; David Lightman hacks into a United States Military super computer, runs a nuclear war simulation he thinks is a video game, turns out it’s not and he almost starts World War III.
openUsual way, failed way Film
Is there a trope for this? A scene is repeated. The first time, we see the usual way of doing things. Everything is OK. Later, the same operation is repeated, but it is an Epic Fail. For example, in The Circus, we first see a profesional tightrope walker doing his thing. Later in the movie, the Tramp has to replace him. He tries to do the same thing, but he completely fails (but still manages to survive). There is another example in French Fried Vacation 2. In the beginning, a doctor asks a nurse to slap in the face of a woman whose arm is dislocated, so that she does not pay too much attention to the pain when he puts her arm back in place. Later in the film, another woman has her arm dislocated, but there is no nurse. The doctor asks his friends to help him. One of them hits the woman in the face before the doctor does anything. A second friend then tries but he misses the moment and then hits the woman in the face when the arm is already back in place. Thank you for your help.

Hi, I am looking for a trope in which the hero encounters a better version of him-/herself. The antagonist is everything the hero hopes to be or believes to be. Of course, in reality the hero is everything but the opposit. Think: Hero is the worst cop ever. Meets the perfect cop etc. Particularly looking for comedies using this trope. I would call it "better self" but I am sure it exists here under a different name. Can anyone help?
openKnocked Out Film
So the hero and an antagonist fight, the hero wins, and (sometimes after a conversation) renders the antagonist unconscious with a blow to the head. Example: The Princess Bride, when The Man in Black konks Inigo on the head after their sword fight. SURELY this is already a trope, but I cannot find it!
openTrope for punching meat? Film
Is there a trope such as this? Does it have a name? I've read the entry for Rocky and noticed it doesn't mention the meat punching scene, despite it being pretty iconic and being a parody staple in cartoons and comedy films later years.
openHollywood Forest Film
Forests in live-action media conspicuously having flat and clear ground, and neatly spaced trees, due to being shot at a tree farm.
openLast Scene Action Pose Film
Is there a trope for the last scene in a movie (or show, comic, game, whatever) with the character(s) making a badass pose, often carrying a gun, or doing a martial arts stance? Found in many a Sequel Hook.
The most glaring examples that come to mind are the Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter and Super Mario Bros movies.
openTrope for slow monsters who never fall behind? Film
Is there a trope for monsters/killers who never move faster than a leisurely walk yet somehow always manage to keep pace with victims who flee at top speed? It seems like this is a common thing, but I couldn't find it.
openRhymes with Schmecret Film
Is there a trope for a character claiming he won't say something, but saying it rhymes with another word, usually non-existant, that makes the true meaning obvious?
e.g.:
- Alice: I won't tell you what problems Bob had in the bedroom, but let's just say it rhymes with Schmerectile Dysfunction...
openunzipping dresses Film
I'm looking for shots in films where a woman unzips her dress or her top (like in American Beauty or Jennifer's Body...)
openMiracle Season Film
Drunken washed-up former sports star coerced or forced out of retirement to coach 'the worst team in the league'.
I'm thinking of a trope, it's similar to Billing Displacement, but it's more of a region thing, like Person A gets top billing in one country cause he's more popular there, but Person B gets top billing in another country because he's more popular. Or is that still falling under Billing Displacement?
(if I must be specific. Seth Rogan and Jay Chou in posters for The Green Hornet. Rogan gets top billing in the US, Chou in Asia.)
