Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread

Yo. I'm it. (More precisely, it/they/she.)
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.Hi, I'm nonbinary and I know nonbinary who do personally use the pronoun it. That paragraph is entirely accurate.
I've known a few people who do use it/its pronouns but it's very rare. Strictly speaking the example isn't wrong by saying some nonbinary people, but I'm not sure it's worth mentioning
Absolute destiny... apeachalypse?Alright, thanks for the info. I know personal pronouns can be a sensitive issue, particularly among the nonbinary community, so it's good to know the entry isn't trying to spread misinformation. Obviously, this is something that varies from person-to-person.
I'll leave the entry as it is.
Edited by chasemaddiganAs a (admittedly binary) trans person, I can also confirm there are enbies who prefer to use it/its.
TV Tropes's No. 1 bread themed lesbian. she/her, fae/faerA black friend of mine uses "it" pronouns, but also finds "she" pronouns acceptable. Which is good, because I am not calling a black person "it" even with permission. That would not be a good look.
Sixthing with the confirmation that "it" exists, as do a variety of neopronouns. Hell, I could expand upon that entry given how many people define their gender as something beyond human constraints or see themselves as distinct from humanity (especially in the context of neurodivergence), and thus see "it/its" as a reflection of that.
Other than that, though, I think this matter's been resolved.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.I always use "they" when I am not sure what the correct pronoun is.

I was looking up the Real Life section for "It" Is Dehumanizing and came across this entry:
Now, I can't speak for non-binary people, but I've never heard anyone suggest that using "it" is an appropriate pronoun for a person. In fact, it's generally considered to be highly offensive to do such a thing.
I tried looking this up, but I can't see any major groups that prefer "it" as a pronoun, and the Weasel Words used at the beginning make me doubt the authenticity of this entry. I very tempted to cut this entry on principle, but does anyone more familiar with the nonbinary community want to weigh in before I do so?
