I don't really understand what In Universe Examples Only means in regards to Refuge in Audacity.

It's acknowledged in-universe that the plan only succeeded due to being absurd?

NRLEP tropes require the real life sections/pages to be removed. What about IUEO pages with real life sections/pages?

Real Life examples are in-universe by definition. Unless some being outside the universe decided to edit TV Tropes?

^ Good try lol

In-Universe Examples Only: "Tropes listed here limit all examples and wicks to In-Universe."

In-Universe: "It's also known under a variety of other names, such as In-Story, In-Series, and In-Fiction."

^ Come now, we all know this reality is just a computer simulation anyway.

In-Universe also explains that it concerns audience reactions. It basically differentiates character reactions from audience reactions. If the real life examples concern the reactions of those in the situation described, then it probably makes sense to keep... probably.

In other words, if the people involved said something about it being impressive yet also absurd. I highly doubt most of the examples are like that, though.

Real Life examples mean 'out in the real world'. An in-universe examples only trope means it can only list examples that take place in a created story. Real Life examples on such a trope shouldn't be added and should be removed if they are.

If you think that Real Life examples should be forbidden, there's a thread for that.

It was decided on a crowner years ago that the RL examples can be kept. Opinions can change, though, so propose it if you feel it needs to be cut. I doubt it being IUEO would be a strong enough reason, though, as evidenced by this discussion.

Yeah my understanding (and above explanation) of IUEO really only works with the existence of NRLEP. They can't both mean the same thing or else we might as well consolidate them (which would probably be a Wiki Talk discussion or something).

^^When tropes have become IUEO during my participation on that thread, they've generally been NRLEP'd at the same time, because the examples can only come from created works. I was speaking on that basis.

The page in question opens with "This very page is an example of Refuge in Audacity, considering the warning on the main trope page."

So, that's the joke: it's Self-Demonstrating.
