Kind of... But it almost seems like CBC is brought about as an end to the conflict. Where what I'm talking about it 'is' the conflict.

It is fighting by proxy. God's Hands Are Tied and The Gods Must Be Lazy apply, except both sides don't interfere. Basically evey fantasty story, video game or {=RPG=} where The Hero fights The Dragon and cosmic powers guide guide each side. Combat by Champion can still be the entire conflict if done as an alternative to a more distructive form of conflict. Also it doesns't have to be a single person from each side. It isn't currently a trope. It might be too omnipresent.

What is it called when, as an example, two gods are fighting, but instead going head to head they use two lesser beings and pit them against each-other. Which ever one of those two wins, their patron god also wins.
