If it's any consolation, I believe you're right, and someone else has agreed with you as well, so you do have grounds to remove it.
Honestly, I'm going to pull it myself for now and say "Please wait until everyone has discussed before re-adding an example. It is called a discussion page, not a monologue page." I think that doesn't count as Edit War, and I can't remember what the hard and fast rule on it is or if we had one, and it's not on the Edit War page, so...
I'll be chiming in on the discussion page. If he puts it back up again, leave it and let the mods handle it.

Left a note in the page history and added the page to my watchlist. If he does it again, he can be suspended.

I've become involved in a bit of a tussle concerning a Faux Action Girl entry on the Quantum of Solace. The other troper involved, forsetipurge, is being rather rude and just added the trope back in after presenting their argument for it rather than waiting for a response. If it's not an edit war yet, I don't know what to do to not create one, since I feel I should remove the trope until we're finished discussing it, so some mediation would be useful. All the conversation is in the history and on the discussion page.
