That's like, the only reason I would get married.

Legal BS = tax benefits and hospital precedence. That shit is important.

Eh, I've always thought of marriage as a thing I'd like to do. Would never want a huge ceremony, just maybe a small, intimate celebration with our absolute closest friends and family, as big to-dos like that make me feel self-conscious.

I would hope that I could find someone I'd be compatible with and who feels the same way at least by the time I'm 30. I'm 22 now. And granted, I know there's no time limit or whatever to this, but I would like to have children and I'd like to be able to see my hypothetical grandchildren before I die. I don't know how much time I have left on this earthly plane.

Insert witty 'n clever quip here.

Ah, yes.

Marriage. I would like to marry Hibiscus. Probably something fancy and cool. With fireworks. And lots of cakes.

I would personally want a simple to-the-point ceremony. The after-party, on the other hand, would be a different matter.

(Also, what is the deal with hospitals being so picky about visitors, anyway?)

They don't want you spreading your scummy outside germs into the hospital for too long, is my guess. Or vice-versa.

Hospitals are breeding grounds for super-germs. It's in your best interest to avoid them whenever possible.

The whole "we won't live as long as our parents" thing is mostly due to the obesity epidemic. If you're healthy (at least as far as heart/lungs), then it's likely that you'll handily beat your parents in terms of age. In 40 years when i hit the current retirement age, god knows what new medical advancements we'll have to stave off the ravages of age, if you manage to get to old age healthy in the first place.

Of course, retirement age will be back by then too, not because of a lack of social security money but sheerly because folks are living longer. Of course, i predict a stronger social safety net by then due to technological advances making large chunks of the workforce permanently obsolete.

  • anyway*, gearing up for the big party on Saturday night. Kind of wondering if i couldn't talk to her then about sharing a taxi home, since we live in the same general vicinity and could save money that way. If she's going, anyway. Either way, a chance to increase exposure and possibly "make the jump" and make clear my interest in her.

Living a long life terrifies me. Being that old just seems... painful. You have to take dozens of pills, every time you move a bone breaks, every day is a chance you may just go insane, everyone belittles you... It doesn't sound worth it at all.

I'd rather die when I'm 50 or 60 than live until I'm 90.

I would like to live long enough to see my grandchildren graduate from university.

Unless they're disappointments, of course.

[up][up] Agreed. Unless they develop cybernetics to make things easier, it really doesn't seem worth it to drag things out.

You don't have to be in your nineties to see that. My mom was only in her forties when I graduated high school. She would have been ~50ish when I graduate college.

And if you have your kids in your thirties, you can see them graduate just fine before you get hella old.

I've thought about this way too much.

Doctors have said that 75 is an average and/or ideal "dying age" for humans.

I kind of figured 75 is the average age of death because not everyone dies of old age or natural causes.

Now he's barely even talking to me. Not actively ignoring me, as far as I can tell, but I'm not really sure. Still not sure how he feels about me.

I know he's having trouble with school, and that could be distracting him or something (I of all people should know how much something like that could eat at you), but still. Never mind a more serious relationship, if we want to be friends, you need to pay attention to me sometimes!

I'm not sure weather I'm sad or mad or just disappointed. Really wish I could read his mind right now.

I have no idea why I suddenly realised I had feelings for that guy anyway.

I mean, I could tell it'd been there for years due to....physical reasons.

But..... gah. Anyway, guess who on this board it was.
