Akari Mizunashi, Aika Granzchesta and Alice Carroll. ARIA is one of my favorite series ever and the main trio are easily the main reason I like it. They are all great characters indiviually and have good development, but the interaction between them is just as great.

Yuno from Hidamari Sketch because I liked her development and her nice/funny/cute interactions

Favorite anime characters eh? Well then, here are mine.

Rei Ayanami: Should be obvious. tongue What else can I say about good ol' Rei that I haven't said already? Sure she seems to be an emotionless brick on the outside, but she is so much more than that. Her search and discovery of her humanity, especially in the Rebuild series, is probably one of the most compelling stories I have ever seen, and her subtle development into someone who loves and cares for others, such as Shinji, is quite heart-warming, at least to me. Her tale, albeit tragic, brings up some very interesting observations about the nature of cloning, and she is, in my opinion, the only character to truly develop besides Misato Katsurugi. That and she will forever be my one and only fictional crush. [lol]

Lelouch: Without a doubt, one of the best masterminds and Magnificent Bastards this side of Light Yagami. His ability to control people, and just his wit in the battlefield makes him the reason to watch this show. Aside from that though, he does truly care for others, as demonstrated multiple times, and even though he can be nearly heartless at times, his overwhelming sense of compassion for the ones he cares about keeps him human, especially compared to other characters in the series like Schneizel and even to a lesser extent, Suzaku.

KyoukoSakura: Arguably the strongest character in the series emotionally, Kyouko, despite showing up a third of the way through, is also a character whose tale I found immensely compelling. At first she appears as a complete and total Jerkass. But as she begins to learn the true nature of the contract, and when we see her tragic backstory, she becomes much more sympathetic. By the end, she has grown into arguably one of the most selfless characters of the entire bunch, and her Heroic Sacrifice ranks as one of the best I have ever seen. For that, she definitely is one of my favorites.

Guts: The biggest Badass ever, Guts is one character that I have immense respect for. To go through all of the ordeals that the series constantly throws at him, and to not completely crack is extremely commendable. He is probably the most realistic interpretation of what makes someone a Badass too, as he won't back down, and will never waver, even in a Crapsack World like Berserk's. In a sense, he is the true Christ figure in the series, unlike that wannabe Griffith. So yeah, he is the one who I look up to the most.

Senjougahara Hitagi: One of the few Tsunderes that I can actually handle, Hitagi practically made the whole series work. Her banter with Araragi is one of the most memorable ever, and she doesn't just lay down and let the others walk over her. She is willing to stand up, help the others, including Araragi, overcome their problems, and is overall, one the the wittiest characters ever. Her relationship with Ararararagi (oops I stuttered there tongue) is also quite heart-warming to watch.

There are more, but these are my top five, in no real order.

Hmmmm...I think I'll have to limit this down. In no real order...

Asuka Langley Sohryu is definitely one of my all-time favorite anime characters. I think it has to do with how the character grew on me. When I first saw Eva, I thought she was kinda funny, with a bunch of cute scenes that made me laugh. Then came the second half of the series, and...yeah. Rewatching the series over the years forces me to reexamine the series from a different perspective, and, while I respond the same as I first did to most of the other characters, I always see Asuka differently. Some of her scenes are hilarious, cute, and/or traumatic. It's such a dynamic rich character I draw something different from her each time I see the series. >_< I also love most of the cast in the series, especially Shinji, Misato, and Gendo.

[[Pokemon Misty]] was one of the first anime characters I really liked. Maybe as a kid I had a minor crush on the character, or at least—I'll stop. Anyway, usually when a character dies or something happens to a character, it doesn't drastically change how I look at a series. This is the one glaring exception. When Misty left, the Pokemon anime suddenly lost most of its appeal, or at least the seasons after Johto.

Everyone from Azumanga Daioh is awesome, though in particular Sakaki. I kinda always related to her on some level. Also there's Osaka. I'm not gonna lie, in the extra chapters that were released during the 10th year anniversary, I kinda got a little teary eyed during that scene with Osaka and the stamp...DON'T JUDGE ME!!!

Ami Mizuno is so adorable. Glasses, super smart, shy, socially awkward, yeah. However, Ami isn't my favorite Sailor Moon character. THAT prize goes to Haruka! She's a pragmatic character in a fairly optimistic world. In any other series, she'd be entirely correct, which is why I like her. She tries to do things the best she can, but her solutions tend to be morally gray. I just loved her characterization in S a lot, part of the reason why S is my favorite of the Sailor Moon series. Also, being a lesbian helps.

All the villains in DBZ are awesome. 'Nuff said.

Hope no one minds me bumping this:

Cowboy Bebop: Not just Spike, but also Jet. They have a lot of great moments together.

Yu Gi Oh: Bakura for being so adorkable, Jou the underdog for his raw determination, and of course little Yugi for turning out to be the best there ever was, and still be such a nice little boy. (By the way, I'm surprised there haven't been any Kaiba nods in this thread.)

Haruhi Suzumiya: Kyon, for reasons already mentioned, and Tsuruya for always finding everything awesome.

Trigun: Vash the Stampede. He's a riot. Also loved Wolfwood.

[up] Good thing you did, because I wanna put my opinions up too...

Armin Arlett - He's the first actual case of "Whiny wimpy kid that realizes something awesome about themselves" that's caused me to view him as one of my favourite characters in anime.

Roberta - Terminator maid that can survive a gigantic explosion, get into a fight with Americans using only a musket and can bite through a specialized knife. In short, she's (in my humble opinion) a walking CMOA with shades of Mary Sue-ness. Also, her shooting a sniper one handed is, shamelessly, the hottest thing I've seen a woman in an anime do.

There are probably more, but I can't think of any at the moment...

Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle: Princess Sakura of the Kingdom of Clow is energetic, happy, informal with her best friend, and loved by the people. Sadly, that's all taken away after the pilot episode.
