shhhhhhhh lemme believe.
that said, if frontier monsters aren't coming back, that basically confirms that King Shakalaka is coming back, considering what the recent news said.
unless it was telling us that Rathalos and Rathian are coming back. but that would be dumb.
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-Mae............
FFFFFFUUUUUUUUCCCCCCKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!
So I just hunted a Qurupeco again. It called a Rathian, but since I wanted the extra free hunting bonus, and I was looking for Rathain materials, that's not an issue. So I eventually kill old Rathy (cutting it's tail in the process and getting a flame sac, which I needed), and went back to the Qurupeco. I broke it's beak, so now I would hopefully give me the last strange beak I needed, which meant I would be able to stop hunting him.
Wore him down, he's tired and sleeping. I get him to the last area where he rests. Kill the few Jaggi in the area so I have nothing to worry about, put him in the trap, and now I just throw two tranqs, and I'm done.......
And I miss. I fucking miss. So he breaks out of the trap. But wait! I still have a second trap just in case. So I manage to get him in that, and now, I just gotta hit him with the tranqs......
And I miss..... and I get him, and then, cause I didn't bring more tranquilizer with me, I'm out, and he breaks the trap, and I got none left.
.......I wish there was a rage symbol here. Fuck. How? How could I do that? I'd thrown the tranqs hundreds of times. Since when is it suddenly so tough?
So I gotta do it again now, since I turned it off once I was out of both traps and Tranqs. I'm kicking myself. I had like 8 minutes left too, so I was screwed.
I'm just.....really angry at myself for that one. I suppose, if I'd been using a Bow-gun, I'd have been able to hit him more easily too. It's just......
Fuck. Fuck Handsome Rob. Fuck that guy who is also me.
One Strip! One Strip! It's a shame you can't give tonsillitis to that asshole bird so it doesn't sing anymore. Qurupeco is nothing without the monsters it summons. >_>

135 - 169 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300You can throw Sonic bombs at it, but you run out eventually.
I mostly just save those for when it tries to heal or buff itself. Once it summons something big, I at least know it can't do it again.
Well, when I play again, I'll get another chance at both.
One Strip! One Strip!Got my chance, made it count.
Man, only a few seconds to spare, and the asshole hadn't gone to sleep yet. I didn't think I'd make it, but then I realized he was weak enough that I could set the trap right then and there, so I countered his screech attack, laid the trap, let him come to me, then tossed the bombs, and he went down.
Best part is, I was able to kill that Rathian again as well, and got another flame sac as a bonus.
So I'll be able to make my new Tropeco Bow-Gun (though not until I get some firestones), and am closer to my Tropeco armour. I still need to take care of some Lagombis for my ice based Bow-Gun, but after that, I can hunt the hell out of Rathian, and even maybe move on the the Gigginox.
....Phew. Did not think I would make it, but I did. Now I never had to worry about that bastard again.
One Strip! One Strip!Just did the Rathian capture quest.
Now I got 5 flame sacs, when I only needed 4, but I ain't complaining.
In fact, I'll likely have a lot more since I still got a lot of Rathians to hunt, capture and kill. I used up my only 2 Monster Bone L's to finally make the Barroth Blade-Master Armour set, so now, I got 12 left for both Rathian sets, and both Gobul sets.
Still, that's a lot of Monster Bone L's, and those things don't exactly get tossed out like Candy. I might consider hunting both the Gigginox and the Lagiacrus properly so as to widen my chances, but I may not. It depends on whether the armour for those guys also needs Monster Bone L's. I'd rather not have to get more.
Is there anyway to increase the chances of getting those things? It's brutal knowing I need so many.
One Strip! One Strip!Caught another Rathian via quest, and still no Monster Bone L.
I think I need to try petting Poogie more. This is gonna take a long ass time it seems.
One Strip! One Strip!I decided to go back to Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate and start hunting Alatreon again. I really hope it returns in a game with the mounting mechanic; maybe breaking both horns for the blasted Skyspiercers and Skyswayers wouldn't be such a hassle then.
maaan i'm loving the HBG so far
And then there was silenceRight. I need to know.
What's the best way to build up Monster Bone L's.
I want to gather lots of them before I going for new armour, but if it's gonna take a century to do it, I may as well not just stick to Rathian and kill some other dudes as well. I mean, you apparently get them from Gigginox and Lagiacrus as well right? I suppose I can also do the egg quest since I figure she might show up there as well.
Also, is it better to capture or kill when farming for bones?
One Strip! One Strip!Yesterday, I went on a Guild Quest where the goal was to hunt two Rajangs. We found the first one and fought it for a minute before the second one appeared. Dung bombs don't work against the Rajang, so we were forced to deal with two of them at once. And then one of them frenzies...
Still, we managed to hunt them both, but man, that moment when the second Rajang frenzied was a definite Oh, Crap! moment.
Speaking of hunting, here's a funny video:
Pssh! If it works it's all fair! Don't see why they are suddenly against a good strategy like that.
STILL trying to get some Monster Bone L's. Keep forgetting to pet Poogie. Maybe that's why I'm having trouble. Whatever the case, if I kill any more Rathians, I'll at least have enough material for everything else I need to make that particular armour set.
Also can't make the Gobul set with Monster Bone L's either. I need six (for the Gunner and Blademaster) for both so that's three for each piece.
Fortunately, I only need them for one part of each armour.
Once again, I'm asking you guys if there's anything, even if it's a tiny thing, that I can do to up my odds a bit. Maybe hunt a different monster? Perhaps use some kind of meal to up certain odds? Is there anyway to actually start getting more of these things so I can just make the armour I need? Because it's kinda grinding my gears how hard it is.
One Strip! One Strip!I think there was a combination that gave "Lucky Cat" not sure if it was in 3U, though.
Per Kiranico:
The Village Quests "Leading the Charge"(3*), "The Creeping Venom"(4*), and "Dragon Lady"(4*) all have a 100% chance of giving a Monster Bone L as a quest reward. I'd say run Charge and Dragon Lady a few times, as you're guaranteed at least one, maybe more. Doesn't look like anything gives them for carves or captures.

100%?
Wow! Alright. Back to killing then! I'd been capturing for a while.
Thanks! This will do it. Maybe I'll even get a surplus.
Mwa ha ha ha hah!!!!
One Strip! One Strip!Double post:
Alright. Got my first one, by hunting a Rathian. Killing them really is better. My only mistake was using my sleep based lance. I wanted to try it out, but not being able to move too much is a mistake against that guy, I realize now. So next time, I either stick with my thunder based long sword, or use one of my Bow-guns.
Anyway, since I need to kill a lot, I guess this really is the best choice. Now die mother fuckers!!! I may still alternate between hunting and catching, just for materials though.
One Strip! One Strip!Sounds like a good plan. Since it's a quest reward, the game doesn't care about capture vs kill, just finish the quests and collect your loots.
Well I wasn't getting anything L bones for capturing him, so I'll stick with kill mainly, though I do get more of the other materials for capturing.
11 more times to go. That'll be something.
One Strip! One Strip! And now 9 more times.
Yesterday, I got another L bone from a hunt, but I also got one from sending out one of my ships earlier, so I was able to make the Rathian Blademaster armour.
Huzzah!
Since it wasn't mentioned on the list, I consider myself pretty lucky really.
Edit: Forgot to mention that while I was hunting the second time (but before I got the third bone via ship) I tried fighting it with a Bow-Gun. It worked out well, except I was unable to slice the tail. It's not that I didn't have slicing ammo (cause I did), but that Rathian would not stay still long enough for me to hit the tail. Most of the time, it was never in the right position for me to hit it, or would literally move right when I fired at it. Or often, by the time I started taking aim, it was already moving around again. It was infuriating.
I really suck at cutting tails with Bow-Gun ammo. I'll stick with just using Swords for cutting from now on.

One Strip! One Strip! Not being able to move? What do you mean? Lance is one of the most mobile weapons there is. If you use it right, anyways.
Well, I still need to work on that I guess.
I use the Gun Lance a lot more to be honest.
One Strip! One Strip!Which is ironic, considering that the gunlance is basically just a lance with all of the mobility removed.
I know. I suppose I should practice with the regular Lance a bit more I guess.
At least then, I'll be able to use it better.
One Strip! One Strip!considering the lance can basically guard against everything, its pretty good even if you're not good at moving with it.
Frontier monsters aren't likely coming back bruh.
And then there was silence
