Nippon Ichi will focus on PS4 and Nintendo Switch as primary consoles.

Switch ports for Disgaea 1-D2 when?

Fixed it. Thanks for reminding me.
Nippon Ichi better carry on with their schedule of porting the games to the PC. Okay, the ports aren't necessarily the best, but the games are still brilliant.
In a good world, they would port over the La Pucelle PSP version so that it can be translated to English.
Yeah, there's a fan-translation, but I could never get over how awful the text and lack of contractions is.
De Romanīs, lingua Latina gloriosa non fuī.Personally, I want Makai Kingdom PSP. I think it's also translated, but I can't play it.
Just popping into this thread to say that Soul Nomad & The World Eaters is the best NIS game and can never be topped.
They could probably make a better game if they were willing to take more risks than they do with Disgaea and such. But otherwise, yeah, best game of theirs that I've played.
I really need to get around to finishing Makai Kingdom though. I couldn't get into it before.

Now there would be a good one to see again on the Switch.
I just want Disgaea 3 on a console I own.
Nippon Ichi had a livestream recently.
Sparknotes version (from what I can gather on account of how I can't read or speak Japanese.):
- Shikihime Kyōdōtan (Your Four Princess Knights' Training Story) tactical role-playing game, coming March 8
- The Silver 2425: a release that will bundle The Silver Case and The 25th Ward: The Silver Case, coming March 15..
- Usotsuki Hime to Mōmoku Ōji (The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince): A new love story game involving a monster posing as a princess and a prince who's, well, blind.
- project Nightmare: A horror game that will apparently feature live-action cutscenes
- Disgaea: Hour of Darkness will be getting an HD remake in honor of the original game's 15th anniversary.
- And apparently they teased a new Disgaea project...hmmm.
EDIT: fixed some things.

More seriously, only a couple of years since the PC port?
That was supposed to be a pretty big thing.
EDIT: Witch and the Hundred Knight 2 coming out of Japan.

Well, we knew it was leaving Japan. It's been up for preorder for ages. Nice to finally know a release month, at least.
The Knight Princess story seems nice, it is interesting in how they are letting you customize your character.
The liar and the blind princess seems like it will be interesting as well.
Personally not interested in Hundred Knight 2, but may rent it from gamefly.
The Disgaea 1 remake has me interested. I wonder what they are going to do with it? I don't think they will be able to go back to the Disgaea 1 way of gameplay though to many QOL changes have happened for that. I'm expecting the remake to use the D5 engine and maybe include a sneak peek at what D6 will bring to the table in terms of features. I expect the post game for the remake to include Sciliy. Also I wonder if the post game for the remake will be about Laharls first defeat of Baal, one of the few things that seems to be in continuity throughout the series. Welp I'm interested in this.
Speaking of Sicily, since Disgaea D2 was the only game in the series to never be ported off of PS 3, I wonder if the post-game might include a condensed version of it.
Either way, I'm expecting a mix between D2 and 5 mechanics here.

Speaking of which, Disgaea 5 takes place before Hour of Darkness, right?
I wonder if there will be references to Lamington being Christo.
Also, it will be great to see Captain Gordon with an HD sprite.

I might get this one. Disgaea 1 is the only one I think I could get into, though Disgaea 4 also has a good cast.
Also I started replaying Soul Nomad. Might drop it since I've played three RP Gs already last month, but it's still tons of fun and as hilarious as I remember.
Well I'm continuing with Soul Nomad.
I seem to just get worse at games as I get older. I used to be able to blaze through this game no problem and now I've already gotten two game overs.
Goddamn Pyremages and their Terror Blazes.

So if I were to get a Disgaea game, which should I get? I own a PS 3, PS 4 and a Switch so I can get all the modern ones,.
Is Disgaea 5 good? I've watched some cutscenes and the cast just seems really boring, especially Killia. Like they totally lack the manic energy of past Disgaea games.
I can get 4 for pretty cheap too if that one's better.
Disgaea 5 is pretty much the best game in the series.
Yeah but the characters seem super boring. Of all the scenes I've watched Killia is just a straight faced broody anti-hero with none of the energy that Laharl, Valvatorez or even Adell had.
I play RP Gs mostly for the story, so a game about a Five-Man Band of plucky heroes with the big meathead idiot, the snarky loli, the idiot sidekick and the haughty love interest doesn't really appeal to me in what I'm looking for when playing Disgaea.
I think that the writing does some interesting things, but there are just as many missteps. I will say that Killia being so weirdly nice is kind of interesting for a Disgaea game, but that's obviously nothing new in the broader scheme of video games.
Also, she does eventually give up on Killia, so that's something.
I found Disgaea 4 on ebay for 8 dollars so I went with that since getting Disgaea 5 on Switch is like 70 dollars CAD. I figure it's better this way since if I like it I can jump to 5 later and not lose out on the added gameplay improvements.
4 has a quirkier cast, so that may be better for you anyway.
Makai Wars' Opening PV.
Looks like it's using the same thing the Neptunia games use for their normal cutscenes for the opening instead of the usual animators they have for Disgaea games.
