Danny Phantom? Wait, you said American Series. Not a series set in America. Are you okay with American series that are set outside of America, like Avatar The Last Airbender?

No, you were right the first time. And unfortunately, I can't use that either (not set in California).

How familiar are you with the Runaways? You'd probably get use out of any of the team members.

Nico Minoru- team leader and has a very fussy magic staff.

Molly Hayes- super strong loli.

Gertrude Yorkes- snarky child of time travelers with a psychic link to a dinosaur.

Karolina Dean- Alien that produces a very trippy light show from her skin. Also a lesbian.

Victor Mancha- Son of Ultron. Like his brother Vision gave pops the finger

Fate Grand Order players will know me as Ryusei-Go.

Raws only but it looks like Negi confessed to Chisame and she turned him down.

If anyone ever wanted to see Negi, Fate, and Kotaro standing on top of whale ships in the vaccum of space hurling towards Mars...its your lucky day I guess.

Literally the only good thing ever to come out of UQ Holder.

Okay, I've SORT of figured it out. I've narrowed it down to Harry Dresden (red or Black), Aino Minako & Kimberly, with the other colors possibly being Ruby Rose, Katie Holt & Tachikawa Mimi. They selection all have their advantages and disadvantages, such as how easy it would be to integrate their full backstory to the setting, but so far, no matter who I think of, I keep ending up with a gender-inverted Zyuuranger. Ugh, why are most male characters so generically forgettable? The only ones that really stick to my mind are successful harem kings, and the country is wrong for that.

(If you must know, the males I WOULD use if it were the right country are Amakawa Yuuto, Tsuda Takatoshi, Itsuka Shido and Ichijoji Ken. And of course Katsuragi Keima, but that would not mesh well with the Dresden Files. So there. Maybe I'll try it next time.)

BTW, does anyone here play Dark Souls 3? Any advice to how to fix it so I'm not in a constant state of bullet time? My rig is running Dark Souls 2 just fine, so I was surprised at the slowdown. The only way to get almost-decent performance from it is to have it windowed to the smallest size.

I have never in my life felt more justified for the extreme rebranding of Yuuna that I did in Project: Arashi than seeing her utter the line "do you want to feel me up" at a heartbroken Negi.

Don't worry, last chapter featured literally nothing from UQ Holder itself, so it wasn't complete garbage.

Just the fact that it's part of UQ Holder's internal continuity — i.e. it's intended to support its connection to Negima — makes it complete garbage in my eyes. Ugh. I'm still intending to read the whole thing for purely Bile Fascination purposes... though I might super-skim any page with Dana on it.

The strangest thing I found was how Madoka of all people tried to hit on Negi after his heartbreak. I thought she was supposed to one of the more sensible ones?

Which is 'subtle' foreshadowing we're in the bizarro universe timeline. Or he just forgot his own characters… again.

@Marq: From what I recall, Dana is one of the more entertaining characters in the series.

But then again, I've never borderline-worshipped Evangeline like you do, either, and I know that whenever the subject of UQ comes up your blood magically transmutes to become about 99% sodium.

[up][up] Eva, if you actually knew what I was like back in my late teens / early twenties, you'd know that I'm nowhere near worshipping Evangeline.

I used to be practically fanatical about Yui Ikari being a saint who did no wrong back then... though I was, paradoxically, "civil" about expressing said fanaticism. Now I'm more than willing to accept alternate interpretations of her character as valid, with my primary opinion of her now being "she had good intentions, and all the scant evidence imply that the only choices she had available was to either willingly further Seele's agenda and then die after expending her usefulness to them, or pull off her own Xanatos Gambit — with all the traumatization that she puts her husband and son through — in hopes that she could sabotage Seele's scheme and give both humanity in general and her family in particular a slim chance at a happy ending".

Though my exact wording was somewhat hyperbole, ISTR one of Marq's main complaints about UQ being Dana's existence and how it affected Evangeline's backstory.

Particularly since he just talked about "super-skimming any page with Dana in it".

Though the information I have available to work with may be limited, I try to call it like I see it.

Right. I'm back with pretty much the end of the Nodoka's Faith fic. The previous post was bad, on account that the end of it was bad.

Dawn broke and Nodoka’s head was pounding like war drums. She remembered she had partaken in drinking wine the night before while celebrating with the others. And not the cheap stuff either. Wine was a lot stronger than ale and the others insisted that she’d have some for the sake of being a Notable.

Well, at least she was sleeping on something soft. Nice, lovely texture like smooth baby skin- Hang on.

Nodoka took a closer look. And yes, those certainly were a pair of breasts of some remarkable proportions. Oh, god… please tell me…

And then her phone buzzed on the bedside table. Nodoka didn’t flinch immediately on the noise and she shook her head. Was someone calling? She reached out for it.

The clinking of metal caught her attention, though. Her hand was handcuffed to… her bedpartner. “Oh, come on!” she hissed.

The phone still buzzed, and she found her other hand handcuffed as well, so she had to roll herself and her new ladyfriend over in order to reach it.

“H-hello?”

“Found yourself a new god, have you?” Gromph’s voice came through. He sounded confident. Confident was not a regular tone in his voice.

“Er… yes, I did,” Nodoka answered with honesty, sparing a glance at the brown hair of her bedmate, “and something else with it.”

“I bet.” Seeing as how Gromph Baenre was one of the most powerful wizards on Toril, and the greatest diviner, he could easily see her right now, without a doubt. “How long until you can return home?”

“I can leave at the start of Highsun. Penance and all that.”

“Very well. Finish your penance and then we’ll come to collect you at the entrance. We’ll set aside a chamber for you to set up your personal shrine.” Or shrines. Nodoka had been impressed enough by the other gods of her interests to not just ignore them.

“Good. Until then…” she hung up on him and turned her attention to her handcuffed, naked, female bedfellow. “Now… who are you again?”

“I’m sure you remember.” That was a Voice Nodoka remembered immediately. One does not forget the voice of a deity. And Shelyn rose up from the bed and the handcuffs went loose off them both. “Or do you need help remembering something?”

Nodoka blinked a few times and just stared a thousand miles into the horizon. When she focused back on her second favorite god, she knew what to say. “The part on how we ended up together would be the elusive part, I’d say.”

Shelyn didn’t smile, which was probably the first time she had seen Her not. Of course, Shelyn did have more than one love in Her and this was something akin to concern a mother would have for their troubled child, or a friend worried about their friend’s mood. “Sarenrae and I decided to come visit Cayden’s last night, meet some of the converts to the other churches. We spotted you, alone and drinking Cormyr Firedrake wine. Turns out you are a sad drunk.”

Nodoka winced and hissed as her hangover kicked in again. “Come on, what could have been bad this time? You already know my sad story.”

“Well, you did leave out your love life last time.”

Annnnd, now she froze, staring once again a thousand miles. “...Oh.”

Shelyn did give her a kiss on the cheek. “And, seeing how poor your introduction to the more intimate parts of love was, I may have taken some advantage. Still, I didn’t force anything from you. And while your technique was… less than mediocre, you certainly had passion and gentleness.”

“I thought you weren’t one for sex.”

“We didn’t have sex. We made love. And that…. Oh, to Hell with it,” Shelyn said and got dressed, “call it what you will, you certainly didn’t disappoint Me. And any man or woman thinks you’re bad, you can boast about this night.”

“A night I barely remember, when I made love to the Goddess of Love out of… what, pity?”

“No, not pity.” Shelyn sat down on the bed. “You were sad last night that you were happy for others. There were a few couples down there, too. So what if you were lonely? Everyone deserves happiness. Even you.”

Nodoka didn’t say a word against it. She did have something else on her mind regarding the whole thing. “So… where do the handcuffs come in, exactly?”

“Trust me when I say you do not want to know.”

-

For the remaining days of her penance, Nodoka spent her days over at Iomedae’s temple, being a potent reminder to the other followers there that magic was still the most powerful weapon in the world. She still had some opposers claiming that they wield steel for a reason, but she did counter with that it all balances out and she joined their faith because of the ideal, not the steel.

An argument supported by some of the elders of the church, though their goddess was silent on the matter. Nodoka figured that as their greatest leader, she could not afford to take sides within the clergy.

Still, she took to learning how to use the sword (again) with the others as well. If she had to be one of them, she had to learn the sword. At least Pax was more than willing to show her a few tricks with the arming sword.

In group exercises, her magic showed a significant difference between those who had its support and those who didn’t. Nodoka also insisted on having her critics on her side, to show them just how important it was to have magic alongside steel rather than just steel on its own.

Children and young Squires found her very popular, too. It did pain Nodoka to see children having to learn the ways of war at their age, but she mostly confided to her god about it. Iomedae told her that it be best that they learn it now so they’re ready when it becomes utmost important to fight, rather than being thrown into battle and only having barely a month’s worth of training. Besides, Nodoka wasn’t supposed to teach them anyway.

Hector also became a lot stricter, as well. He admitted he wasn’t expecting her to become Iomedaean, but now that she did, he was going to ensure she was aware of what their allotted role in society was to be. He taught her in the short time they had to be harsh, but fair, to be just and equal. It was a much different mindset than what the Drow had in their society, and Nodoka just loved it.

And then the penance ran out…

Nodoka had started packing the same day she and Shelyn woke up together for when she had to go back to Menzoberranzan. All her items, her books and clothing and personal effects were being stashed away in Chests of Holding, which were shrunk down for easier carrying. Or maybe she should hire a henchman to carry it all. Or make an utility belt similar to what Batman would have. Yeah, that’d be more convenient.

And then she noticed one more chest among her belongings. She remembered having only three chests, not four.

“Consider it a care package from us,” she heard Sarenrae at the doorway to her room, “it’s filled with stuff we think would be useful for you.”

Nodoka took the chest with her as she headed for the door. “Thanks. And not just for this… for everything, really.”

“Hey,” Sarenrae said with a smile, “I just did what I do best. Helping people. And you needed help something fierce. Now go on, Pax is waiting at the door.”

So she was, and they both walked to the entrance of the Parthenon…

...where three black cowls stood there, undisturbed by the guards and facing the two young women.

“Who the-”

“That’s my escort, it seems,” said Nodoka, putting down the big chest.

“Didn’t know you were with that crowd,” Pax growled, hand drifting close to her sword.

“Don’t.” Pax’ hand went down. “You wouldn’t get close enough and we’re not supposed to throw our lives away just like that.”

Pax sighed heavily and that was her relent. Nodoka felt bad about being so harsh, but it was the truth. The black cowls were no doubt the most powerful people Baenre could send for her and Pax was but a squire barely a knight herself. The power balance between them was laughable. For one side, at least.

“So… this is where we part,” said Pax and moved in for a hug.

“For now.” Nodoka accepted the hug without hesitation. “I will be back.”

Pax smiled. “Until then, Madivh.”

“Nodoka,” she snapped immediately. “I think you’ve earned that knowledge about me.”

Nodoka picked up her chest and went to the cowls, looking somewhat nervous about what they would say. The one in the middle just gestured with their head to follow and a groundbridge portal opened up, much to the surprise of everyone present.

Soon afterward, Nodoka found herself in the great courtyard of Castle Baenre, as she called it at least. And the black cowls escorted her to the main door.

“Truth be told, we intended to address this problem when you left,” a very much familiar voice said next to her and Nodoka pretty much found herself face to face with Quenthel Baenre, the matron of the family.

“Oooooh, I guess I messed things up?” Nodoka asked in the same fashion she would ask a bear woken up in the middle of winter if it was hungry.

“Quite,” Quenthel said as they walked, “Upon hearing your lack of prayers and since you were not due for Lolth, I had planned a journey to a temple of Mystra. If only you had been a bit more patient on our behalf.”

“I figured the dream was a first warning of a deadline I had to meet and did not want to take chances with waiting.”

“And you so usually are patient and well-behaved. It was most unexpected of you of all to teleport through faezress and risk certain death.”

Nodoka halted for a brief moment and then resumed walking again. “No one told me about the faezress to begin with. Then I suppose I can count myself lucky-”

“Foolish. You were foolish to even attempt it.”

“- that I only got a broken leg out of the whole ordeal.”

“Only a broken leg?” Quenthel repeated and Nodoka knew exactly where she was going with this. “Get things settled and then come down to the room down below.”

Inside, they saw Eva slouching on the throne with a glass of red wine (at least, that’s what Nodoka hoped it was) and reading a copy of Nethys’ own book. Quenthel growled at her and the vampire stepped off. Nodoka’s own master turned up and just nodded, content with that she just came back to them.

The guards of the castle stood at attention as she passed them on the way to her room since she was still a noble and could do unspeakable things to them if they ever displeased her or any of the female nobles of the family.

Nodoka’s punishment was always the same: Dock their pay.

Somehow, that was terrifying to them.

Then Nodoka reached her room and she found Gracknir cleaning it as best he could with a washrag. On seeing her, he rushed in for a hug and she gave it happily. “Mistress! You came back. Master was angry with me. He took away my ability to read.”

“Did he now?” Nodoka asked. “Well, guess that means I’ll have to teach you again. I’ll come back later. Get my stuff settled in first and we’ll start with Common once I get back.”

Gracknir took her things and started unpacking. Nodoka shivered for a moment, but steeled herself and headed for the room down below.

She wasn’t going to like this, but she had learned to embrace pain as yet another lesson to go with life in Menzoberranzan.

Just another lesson. Nothing more.

I hope this served better.

I'll let you figure out what the Room Down Below is. One hint: Nothing sexual.
