VN Project - What Do YOU Want? (Needs Artist)

Another good role for the Bromantic Foil and/or Only Sane Man would be Gabriel. S/he would be the one to get the plot going by convincing Jess to join a club or whatever.

Also, Adam and Eve should be the Principal and Vice Principal. If Jess ever gets sent to detention she might see a plaque on the wall for Lilith. She will ask where she is only for Eve to make a short joke about her being locked up in the school basement.

Here's a big thing: How could Jesus' miracles be put into this? Also, any idea of what the club should be? How about a theatre club?

Looks pretty good. Though really, it doesn't have to take place in an actual city. It could be in Victouveronto.

And yeah, I think it shouldn't really be in an actual place that you have to go around and take pictures of. Mashing up a bunch of background pictures from different locations would be fine as long as they all mesh reasonably well with each other.

Sweet. For backgrounds I guess I could just go around and take pictures of various towns, and apply the "Higurashi blur" to them.

i'm trying to make a VN too , but it's too much work for one person ;

So, I've thought up some ideas for both of the visual novels.

In the main one, a few characters were thought up:

• A semi-hot blooded girl, who is really into sports and is overall crazy. Will be the Bromantic Foil for the main character. Sort of uses the concept of Himura that neobowman posted. No route for her.

• A shy meganekko girl who is actually a skilled soccer player and is in the Drama club that acts as a major plot of the VN. She is a heroine, and her route will likely deal with the social issues of being a lesbian.

• A tomboyish girl who is in most sports and is also in the Drama club. Sort of a Large Ham at times. Likes animals and cute things and helps out at the SPCA. She is also a heroine.

• The main character's childhood friend. She's usually cool and casual, but is sometimes energetic and cheery. She's smart, hard working character who is also the one to introduce the main character to the Drama club. She's a heroine.

• The School Idol. Her route might be locked until the others are finished, or something. In the "set up" route before it all branches off, she becomes a friend of the main character and joins the Drama club after being pestered. She acts tough and serious, but is actually a nice, happy girl, though mostly in her route. She is the final heroine, and her route deals with bisexuality and the social and personal problems associated with it. In most routes other than hers, she gets a boyfriend near the end.

• An established lesbian couple. The main cast will be Grade 11, and these two will be Grade 12, or so it stands. They are most prominent in the meganekko girl's route.

• Various male characters!

It will naturally be very animesque in style, not just the art.

Bible VN:

Mary Magdalene will be a quiet girl with glasses who hangs out in the library. She has a crush on Jess.

At one point, the school will flood. Noah will have a major role in this.

Moses will be a guy who is on sports teams, gets good grades and is on the Student Council. He's very determined and rigid, though he has a soft heart.

Lazarus will be a nerdy kid that Jess helps out and who afterward hangs out with her.

John the Baptist will be an old, cool teacher who can be stern, but is very well liked by most of the students and staff.

^There's a lot of good stuff in there, but I'm interested in who you didn't mention: namely, the protagonist herself. What sort of character is she? A First-Person Smartass? Some sort of Lemony Narrator? A narrator who doesn't quite always tell the whole truth? Is the girl shy, outgoing, or what?

Of course, in the end, there'll have to be a certain Everygirl quality to her, like all VN protagonists, since they have to feasibly be controlled by the player, and more importantly the player has to feel like the protagonist is an extension of themselves rather than someone else they're just prodding along, but there has to be SOMETHING there otherwise what's the point of anything?

What are you thinking of as family for the normal girl's route Five X? Functionally nonexistent? Parents who play a role in her life? Parents as People? Understanding parents?

As for the Bible VN, would you have four routes too? Would it be better to genderflip all of Jess' disciples or just some of them?

Normal girl? Which one? They're all technically normal.

I think only some of the disciples should get routes. Not all of them were particularly important, after all. I also thought up a joke Mary Magdalene route that ends with a Bad End. Another idea was Jesus having God as an Absentee Father Figure, and when questioned about his name, Jesus just says, "Well, he's kind of a weird guy..."

And it's true that I haven't thought of much for the protagonist of the main VN. I'm pretty sure that she'll be a First-Person Smartass, to balance out the other girls. I'm thinking that she'll be more like a regular male (possibly slightly perverted) VN protagonist, only female. I think it'd be interesting.

As for which disciples would get routes, maybe Mary, Judas(Judith?), Satan(Stacy) and I dunno, Mark(Margery) and Luke(Lucy).

Satan leads to a Bad End, as does Mary's, as a joke. I'm thinking of these for the routes:

• John/Joanne (he was totally the most badass disciple)
• Luke/Lucy
• Peter/Petra(?)
• Judas/Jude/Judith (Unlockable)

As for parents in the normal one, I think parents should play a role. I imagine that in some cases, they might not approve of their daughters being lesbians.

Huh, maybe for the normal game, a double flag system would work for determining the ending. Like the girls flag you get on the routes, but maybe like a family flag to to see how well the heroine has a relationship with her family. If it is a better relationship it will increase the routes chances of her parents accepting that she is a lesbian.

Plus it would be a nice swerve for players who figure they only have to pick one girl and ignore everybody else to get the good ending.

That idea with the parents is a good one. Today my friend and I made up some details of the normal VN:

We have some music pieces being made. He plays piano, I play guitar, and we'll try to get other musicians into this. So far we've got some pretty good stuff down.

Some of the place settings will include a dock area, a regular street, a path to school, and of course the interior of a school. I imagine I might need some free stock photos or something for this.

Some of the routes will be easier than others. The difficulty will; probably be, from easiest to hardest, Meganekko>Bokukko>Old Friend>School Idol.

The beginning and middle will be more comedic, but the drama will increase near the end. There hopefully won't be too much drama, though.

There will be opening and ending songs: a single OP for the VN, and one ED for each girl. The opening will more than likely be animated, in a sort of "sketchy" style.

And that's about it for now. I just have one request, for neobowman: could you take a picture of the "school path" that you made a sketch of? Preferably one that shows at least part of the river.

Also, I'll say again that I need an artist! It's a very fundamental part of this.

People say I can, like, write shit, so if you need a menial writing laborer to help you out with the stuff you can't do with your co-writer I'd gladly slave over it. I could even be your grammar and spelling checker or something. Or I could just... I dunno, do something. The more people working on it the better, right?

As for an artist, I don't think saying in this thread that you need (an) artist(s) will be enough. You gotta reach out to people proactively rather than just waiting around for somebody to show up.

Oh, but it can't be me, because I can't draw worth a shit. =)

Yeah, I'd take pictures for backgrounds too, only I kind of live in Arizona... so I won't be much help on that...
