I feel bad for Shia Labeuf. He appears to only be cast for roles destined for hatred.

@ Zyxzy: Yes.

My first memory of Shia Leboeuf was from Holes. It is a good memory. Why does everybody hate 'im?

I don't like him because he's in pretty much everything these days. He can't need the money.

I remember La Beouff back from Even Stevens.

He's kinda grown out of favor with me because the last few roles he's been in have been... well... annoying. Not that he wasn't as Lewis, but he was a kid then, you know? I was hoping he'd mature as an actor past "annoying guy with funny scream". He seems like an interesting guy, but he keeps taking these shitty roles. Well, besides Wall Street 2...

I don't completely hate him, though. I liked him in Disturbia and actually didn't mind him in Constantine. I'm surprised at that MASSIVE foreign gross, by the way. Is Keanu really big in India or something?

Possibly.

I honestly quite like the movie, really. It's not Hellblazer, but it's not trying especially hard to be.

I like to think of it as an unofficial In Nomine movie.

An useless name, a forsaken connection.

Having never read the comics, I still wasn't exactly crazy about Constantine, but I only saw it once, and have been meaning to rectify that for a while.

I'll give it this: it's about 10000% better than Legion.

Videodrome is great, though. Are you a Cronenberg fan?

Had a strange triple feature: How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days, an old British horror sludge with Tom Baker and Donald Pleasence called The Freakmaker, and an 80s horror tribute called Waxwork. Waxwork was great, easily the best of the bunch.

What an awesome night.

Me too. smile

I'm trying to get more into Cronenberg. I LOVED A History Of Violence and Videodrome, and plan on watching The Fly soon. I liked Eastern Promises, but wasn't blown away by it like I was the others. Any recommendations from his oeuvre?

Since my last post I have watched:

The Evil Dead. I pretty much viewed the whole trilogy in reverse order, so it was interesting to see this one: It's much more of a straight horror movie, complete with an arguable case of Twenty Minutes with Jerks, and Ash isn't really Ash yet. Although actually, it kind of makes sense that it'd take the events of the first film for him to Take a Level in Badass.

Spider Baby. This was a pretty fun one - it's sort of a black comedy that happens to have a premise that sounds like that of a horror movie (a house full of mentally regressing sociopaths).

Orgazmo. It's no Cannibal The Musical, but I still found it pretty funny.

My Neighbor Totoro. My first ever Miyazaki movie, and I'm now determined to watch more. What netflix had turned out to be the Disney dub, which I've since found out fans seem to dislike a bit, but while I don't have anything to compare it to, it didn't really hamper my enjoyment of the story or animation or anything.

Carnival Of Souls. I found some of the dialogue pretty corny, and it was a little slow-moving but overall a nice bit of early Surreal Horror.

Abbas Kiarostami's Close Up was damned brilliant, and utterly fascinating.

Am seeing Inception later, though not necessarily looking forward to it anymore.

I just saw the trailer for the Social Network. Beforehand, the idea of David Fincher with a script by Aaron Sorkin was intruiging but now this has my full attention. Also love the choral version of Radiohead's Creep.

I had no idea Social Network was Fincher. Saw a preview before Inception yesterday.

...suddenly I feel kind of interested in it. Fincher doesn't often make films that I don't find absolutely brilliant.

And yeah, the Creep cover made it.

EDIT: ...and today I watched Versus. Oh hell yes.

I re-watched Dead Ringers again today. I still think it's one of Cronenberg's best (check out that, Scanners and Videodrome, and you've got a pretty good compilation).

Also planning on watching Wild at Heart, which is one I've been meaning to watch for a while. Not sure how it compares to Eraserhead or Mulholland Drive - guess I'm gonna find out.

Just watched Nosferatu, which I thought was pretty neat. The soundtrack on the version netflix is streaming was horrible though, so I remedied that by hitting mute and listening to Godspeed You! Black Emperor, which actually worked well as a mood enhancer.

I fell a little behind in my quest to watch a movie every day that I started this month, but with that I just reached #20. The rest were:

Is that Call of Cthulhu the 2006 silent one? Because I absolutely adore that one.

Yes it was. I thought it was a cool idea that was pulled off pretty well for the budget. And stop-motion Cthulhu was ridiculous but awesome.

Call of Cthulhu! That movie rocks. It's a shame there aren't many other good Lovecraft adaptations.

I'm actually in the process of adapting The Thing on the Doorstep.

The Cthulhu silent version is kind of the bar I need to meet for it. Hopefully I won't fall into that category too. smile
