I've been tempted. What was it for again? Just pc?
:smug:Yeah. PC only right now.
Is it Browser based or do you have to download/buy it?
Are the System Requirements High Ended?
Last Defense Line.I swear we have another topic for that one. Also, courtesy of my participation in beta, I give you already-updated trope page for APB.
"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von Lewis^^It's a P 2 P MMORPG. Although the P 2 P aspects are kind of... unusual for MMOs.
Essentially, when you buy the game, you have access to the servers regardless of whether you pay for in game time or don't. You can't play the missions, but you can use the social areas as much as you like, and customize your characters and such. You also get fifty free hours of play outside of the social areas, which can be used up any time, even a year later.
When you run out of time, you can either buy an extra twenty hours, or you can get a monthly subscription (non-recurring). It's $9 for a month of game time, with discounts for each extra month, so it's cheaper than a normal MMO.

Okay, so there's four factions, two sides with two each. What I'm wondering is: which of the two Enforcer factions is seen as the more moral of the two?
I only ask this because I do tend to take a moral stand when I get the option(ACE Online: I always fly for Arlington, NO EXCEPTIONS).

I am a proud member of the Western Federation's Anti-Japan Media Task Force. My work is very important. From what I can tell, you're not locked into one faction. At least, it seems to let you switch if you want.
Huh. Okay.
What're the shooting and driving mechanics like, and does the game support gamepads? (Wired X Box 360 controller available to me for use. I personally prefer it to M&K.)
I am a proud member of the Western Federation's Anti-Japan Media Task Force. My work is very important.Yes, it supports controllers.
Jonah FalconSick!
Third MMO of all time to get tested out by me!
EDIT: I can still download via Steam, right? Oh, and voice chat support?
The other two are ACE Online and Test Drive Unlimited, in that order.

VOIP is ad supported unless you purchase premium time. Not sure how it works.
APB is less an MMO and more like a Counter Strike in which the round never ends, and everything is dynamic.

Jonah FalconMan, this sounds sweet. I can't wait. See you guys on the streets of San Paro!
EDIT: Installing now! This is gonna rock! Oh yeah, baby!
EDIT2: Okay, I have it downloaded and installed, now how do I link my Steam account with my APB account?

This post was thumped by the Codfish in a Derby Hat
You don't. You need a separate account and just click "Remember me" when you enter your e-mail ingame.
"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von LewisCan't help you with Steam, since I've never used it, but the VIOP ads work like this:
Every three hours, when you change districts, you'll hear an ad. ONLY after three hours or more since the last one, and ONLY when you change districts.
That's not so bad.
Jonah FalconWell, I'm guessing that you need High End Computers for this game. Ah well.
Last Defense Line. Those ads don't sound so bad. I'll hook up my controller, get it set up, make a character, then I'll be out there with a monthly subscription.
Time to get this party started.
I am a proud member of the Western Federation's Anti-Japan Media Task Force. My work is very important. They also don't come up if you don't have VOIP enabled. And there is text chat.
One interesting note: If you're around other players, you can hear THEIR chats. Including the opposite side's. It's as abusable as it sounds.
@Att: The installer checks to make sure you can run the game, and you can download the installer before purchasing the game.

Then my X Box 360 controller with attached mic will be a greater asset than I thought...
EDIT: It's in the process of updating now. It says it'll take about 90 more minutes. So I'm back here...

I am a proud member of the Western Federation's Anti-Japan Media Task Force. My work is very important.Yeah. Updates take forever... It took me like.. five hours. DX
But now I have an Enforcer on Zombie server named Sara Auttenberg, so regardless of the side anyone joins, I can still play with them.
The system check says I have 1.995 GB of RAM. >.>
That is an odd amount of RAM...
Did it say that was enough? :P
It's apparently insufficient. Clearing out a couple gigs of drive space to amp up my virtual memory didn't help either.
I'm going to try playing anyway, because I'm only a few decimal points away from being able to run the game. :P
It's Grand Theft Auto... Online!
Seriously, though, I picked the game up yesterday. I've mainly been screwing around with the character editor (which is pretty in-depth), but I have done a bit of the general gameplay. So far, it's fun, although the animations could use some work. It's also annoying to stand around Mr. Never Shuts Off The Mic while you're working on your outfit...
Anyway, anyone else playing?
I'm currently on Zombie server, Convict side, under DocMiijhal.
