Absolutely. According to the definitive book about Walt Disney World, Realityland, Orlando was trees and marshland before Disney moved in there. Apparently the location was chosen because of the weather.

It was a B Movie then - the flip side to an A movie made cheaply simply for something a little more out there.
They weren't exactly made to be great, they were either made cheaply just for some to get some experience in front or behind a camera or made for somebody to experiment on something that didn't require too much pumped in.
