Unless they're wearing a Villain Card for some reason, crappy people generally don't think or realize that they're crappy.

I think it is worth noting that Sven makes his living with stereotypes and cliches, if his country music writing career is any indication.

So it seems rather logical to me that he would be thinking in cliches in this case, especially since he has never had to work at a relationship (or even for temporary companionship) in his life.

I don't think Sven is bad; he's just in an area that is totally new to him.

That's an interesting idea. He's had nothing but shallow relationships, and he makes a living by promoting unrealistic, trite romantic tropes. He probably has the relationship maturity of an anglerfish.

I think Sven is trying to be a good guy but is basically clueless on how to go about it.

So he DOES operate on cliche's.

If he knows he doesn't deal well with things that don't come easy to him than why didn't he ask someone's advice before he went to tell Faye?

He thought he had it figured out.

This makes Sven into possibly the most straightforwardly bad person in what had heretofore been a largely White And Gray comic in quite a few years of real time, unless you count the people Steve fought.

Gotta say, Sven's a bit warped. I can't believe that just because she rejected him he's associating the third party as being a jerk.

Sven is something akin to a still emotionally a moody teenager when it comes to romantic relationships.
