In which we get updates from the lives of tropers. Kinda like Twitter with more than 140 characters, but less than a blog or LJ.

Please refrain from excess venting in this thread. Talking about negative emotions is fine but it's best not to dwell on them for too long. TV Tropes is not suited to deal with mental health situations.

My dad is in rehab after a stroke he had a few weeks ago. The stroke has definitely affected his thinking; he's not "out of it" anymore in that he seems alert and active and making jokes and everything, but in subtle ways, he's not his old self.

He keeps insisting now that it's possible to plug his virtual reality headset used for his phone, into a TV. Why would you want to do that?! It's not possible anyway. So he's desiring something that makes no sense, and is impossible. He seems confused. All the more reason to be afraid that he won't be able to manage his diabetes. We'll be taught how to do it in a few days.

In other, happier news, tonight's movie in the Synchtube/Cytube Troper Coven is a hilarious Neil Breen movie called Fateful Findings. Besides the terrible acting, starring the writer/director as the lead character, and ridiculous plot elements, it also has one of the most amazing endings I've ever seen in a movie.

The main character gives a press conference about all the government secrets he hacked into and all the corruption he exposed. Random government officials admit to having been corrupt, and all commit suicide. Even a sniper sent to take him out gets killed.

The director is inept, preachy, and has a massive ego, portraying himself as a Mary Sue in all of his movies (he even made a movie where he played the role of God!).

It'll be an awesome time if anyone wants to join us. (Link with more info in my sig)

Yeah, we'll all have to be trained, and I wonder how hard it will be. He takes a large variety of different medications. He'll have to somehow have something that keeps him to a strict schedule, and make sure he follows it.

About 2 weeks ago, he couldn't remember the current year. He guessed 1976. A few days later, 2010 or so. A few days after that he was no longer having problems with dates.

But his insistence that it's possible to plug a VR headset into a TV (which would serve no useful purpose for the headset user even if it was possible) shows that he's still not all there. So what will this mean for his medication taking?

And btw, anyone know any good ways I could advertise the movie group and bring in more members? I really would like more people to join us. Especially since tonight's movie is one we've watched twice and it's already proven its enjoyment value for us, and I'd really like to share it.

That metal hook-stick from work will be mine. For a year and a half me and it pulled countless stacks of milk off pallets. And seeing how it looks like my time in dairy, and at Meijer, are coming to close, I'mma take the stick. It will be mine! Fuck corporate, let them order another.

I got a promotion! Or, more precisely, I'm not being paid for the job I manufactured myself. I started offering input on curriculum planning at my school, despite being only a student, because I saw a lot that could be improved on. I just started emailing all my professors, and they liked my input so they uplifted me to doing that on a regular basis. I spent so much time reviewing plans and giving input that they decided they might as well pay me. What's better is that my new manager is the head of the prestigious scholarship office at my school, and is recommending me for a prestigious grad school scholarship (preferably the Rhodes) in a few years' time

Hooray for sticking my nose where it doesn't belong!

Congrats on not only getting the opportunity to use one of your natural skills, but also on getting paid for it!

It makes me think of how I totally overhauled the phone list at work to something useable and was getting fist bumps and thank yous galore for it. For making it pretty and practical alike, using color-coding intelligently (it was originally not even in color), finding ways to enlarge fonts for important things and use smaller ones for minor things, and all sorts of changes.

I tried to self-advocate by asking my boss if she could spread the word that I could easily totally revamp forms and make them both look better and be easier to use. I only got to redo like... 2 forms, and the resume of my boss's son. In the span of almost a year.

I have a skill that I've clearly demonstrated, but the chance to use it is not there. And forget getting paid for it as an extra.

When I was done babysitting my niece and nephew, I had a chat with my older brother (I'll call him ♣) before I left. Eventually, the chat turned to my younger brother (I'll call him ♦) and cousin (I'll call him ♠).

♣ said that he and ♦ sat in a car ride going to a hockey game and didn't say anything at all the whole trip. He said it was horrible, the silence of that long trip. At the game, it took until the third period for ♦ to bring up politics. "Did you read that article I sent you?" "No, but I will. Could you send it again?" The article was something about how health care being run by the government raises the prices or something like that.

♣ said that he argues healthcare should be free for moral reasons, not economic. So ♦ sent an article from a shoddily designed website that argued for economic reasons that it would be expensive. ♣ said, "If I were to try to change someone's mind, I wouldn't show them a website like what ♦ sent me. I could have designed that website!"

♣ also said that ♦ is like our dad, in that he has excuses for everything. (In our dad's case, the excuses are for not taking care of his health) ♦ doesn't want to admit that maybe the reason people don't want to hire him is not some kind of prejudice against a muscular white man or whatever, but because he comes off as a jerk. Which he does. He is very offputting.

♣ said that ♠, meanwhile, has more of a charm - he manages to charm "the elders" into listening to him. But at the same time, ♠ is the least successful of our extended family members. I told ♣ "people who are at the bottom of the ladder tend to see the ladder as inverted", and he said that's a smart saying, and he loves it.

I also told him that ♦ is becoming alt-right, and he said, "I'm not surprised." Remember, this is the guy who joined the manosphere, and if you look at the manosphere and alt-right, there's a lot of crossover between the two. One philosophy naturally slides into the other. Blah.

I joined a gym a week ago and today was my first visit... Well, sorta - I used to go to this gym years ago and quit due to getting lazy and not going, and now I'm giving it another shot. Anyway, I'm just aiming to feel healthier and lose some of my beer bell, today I mostly focused on the treadmill. Part of the way I decided to try to make it "fun" is to have different semi-appropriate goofy t-shirts I'm going to wear there - today I was in a Thor one, I think for next time I may go for either Bruce Lee or a T-Rex trying to do push-ups.

They did it. My twin bro and his husband moved across the damn country. T-T Now they live in New Jersey. I'm glad Twin Bro matched at a place he likes, I'm glad the move went well...and I miss them.

I know I haven't posted much here anymore, but it's because of my limited Internet plan, to which I have had to resort after the standard, unlimited-time service was never fixed due to our modem's malfunction.

One of my hearing aids just literally, physically broke. The speaker came off the wire that connects it to the mic.

Just imagine me dropping an Atomic F-Bomb right now...

I can get it fixed on Wednesday. (hopefully.) Until then, human speech will be garbled and life will be exhausting.

*sigh* I have to get everything done by May 10th or else I'll drop out of college. I mean, my GPA's already down to 1.14, God knows what will happen if I fail to raise it up to at least 2.0...

Started a new playthrough in April... and am now procrastinating on editing together the 5th part of said playthrough after having to re-record it because the original recording had too many glitches in the footage that caused it to skip, which rendered me unable to sync it properly with my commentary.

I just had an Intercultural Day Festival at school, and it was so fun! Some students did presentations and we shared each others' culture and did quizzes and activities! And best of all, there was food! And I even got kisses from that French exchange student that I like... exp'l  :D

But it was so tiring and I'm exhausted now... :/

Well, this is it. Today is the last day of my vacation.

You're not going to believe this. I wrote down that I could return to work on Monday after my vacation from Missouri, but when I went there on Saturday to check on my schedule, I found out that my next official day of work isn't until tomorrow. surprised

[up][up] Niiiiiice. cool

I got my hearing aid fixed!! :D The hearing aid tech who works at the hospital replaced the broken wire. The wire he used is too small, so it's a bit uncomfortable...but it's a bit uncomfortable and I can understand things, so we're good. I'll get it changed next week when the correct wire comes in.

My twin bro is coming for a visit tomorrow! He moved for residency, but now he has to come back and actually finish school and graduate. So, he's crashing at my place for the next three weeks. Yay!
