- Needless to say, he doesn't need to spend his time hunting demons in areas populated only by them when he could just blast the land away by flicking his finger.
...that sounds a wee bit exaggerated.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Of course. Hyperbole is a thing.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Eh, he could ctch the saviors fist with one hand in 4.
Being able to blast away land with a finger flick in devil trigger doesn't seem too far off, especially in 2' where he can apparently move at light speed in majin form according to the lore within the game.
I'd love to see a Reaction Commmand like system In a future DMC game, if implemented well. the Reversal command would fit perfectly with Dante's quick style of fighting.

Watch SymphogearI'd love a proper dodge like Bayonetta's and for Stinger and its variants to not launch demons away from me.
Hell, forget the dodge. I just want Stinger to let me quickly approach enemies.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! Not sure how I feel about the whole Majin Devil trigger in general. Lore wise, it's not really something I like all that much, but I guess it fits. I know Dante rarely loses a fight and wipes the floor with most anybody, so making him even more powerful seems a bit redundant.
But that was before 3 came out anyway. Things were different then. I'm wondering if at some point 2 will just be retconned out of continuity altogether instead of just always making it chronologically the last in the series.
It could but there's no real reason to.
What saddens me is that I never got to use Majin Devil Trigger when I played the game and I never intend to play it again.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!I like how DMC 4 let you switch between dodge, block and parry on the fly, more or less. And put me down for Reaction Command hype. Best mechanic ever.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.Majin Devil trigger too beastly. I went from badly losing a fight to making a curbstomping comeback.
That's what's so great about it. As a game mechanic, it's fairly unbalanced but it lets you go from "OH, FUCK, I'M GETTING MY ASS KICKED" to "WHERE'S YOUR GOD NOW!?"
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!eh on reaction commands. depends on the kind we're talking about. timed stuff like the bros attacks on Mario and Luigi series are fine. Did not care for their implementation in KH 2, the entire game basically became a triangle mashfest because of it.

It could be something like Bayonetta where some big attacks can be countered via a button press if you meet the right conditions. I don't think DMC should have Bayo's Climax finishers, though.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Hello to frequent contributors of this forum. Hope no one minds me bringing up some of my own thoughts on DMC related stuff.
On DMC 4 Special Edition: I'll admit that the mere fact of Classic!Vergil, who is my favorite DMC character, being in this game has peeked by interest. I am really hoping that he will have some story campaign of his own that has him as returning from the dead in canon in some way as well as adding some extra things to the already existing story mode (e.g. like the Jester fights in the special edition of DMC 3) especially for Dante's part of the story.
On Dm C Definitive Edition: While the gameplay changes and extra previously DLC stuff seems interesting, I'm taking a pass on it. Though I am hoping that a multiverse along the lines of that of the Franchise/Digimon Franchise will be created for the DMC franchise and hopefully DMC 4:SE and Dm C:DE will include a sort of sequel hook that leads to a crossover of both continuities.
On other random ramblings: While Devil May Cry 2 gets plenty of flack (of which it certainly deserves in regard to its sluggish control scheme), one thing that I personally didn't mind was Dante's stoic and bitter attitude (granted the latter was largely a Jerkass Façade) though I do agree he should have had more lines specifically in a Deadpan Snarker manner (e.g. along the lines of Ron Perlman's portrayal of Hellboy in the Hellboy movies). I will also say that I liked the atmosphere of its setting which vaguely reminds of Manga/Hellsing for some reason and would hope that some future DMC games will have a similar one, but not to the dead serious extreme of DMC 2 as some Bathos should have been employed. In regards to Dm C!Dante, I will have to say that he is a poorly made attempt at copying Delinquents along the lines of Yusuke Urameshi but missing the point in that his flaws (his misprioritizing of his own selfish goals above the common good, perverted tendencies, and simply being a dimwit) were things that made him the Butt-Monkey who got punished (via an Armor Piercing Slap by Keiko). Donte, on the other hand, never gets any comeuppance for his flaws which makes him more of a Jerk Sue than a Jerk with a Heart of Gold. While In fairness, he does become a better person at the end of the game (not that Fan Haters would care, but still worth mentioning).
I once had an idea for a DMC/DmC crossover, though it was more of a crossover between every individual DMC game than just a crossover between the two continuities.
Lampshade Hanging: It's a lifestyle.A sweet super stylish combo video to celebrate DmC's anniversary.
...Dante or Donte?
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.Dante. The one with the sword.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).El Don Te.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Sadly, I doubt they'll ever recognize the Lord of Tea as canon in either continuity.
Lampshade Hanging: It's a lifestyle. That's more like "The Mister Tea".
...Holy shit.
Okay, so what series is "The Lord of Tea" from?
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).None, to my knowledge. The nickname originated from this very thread when people started posting videos that contained everyone speaking in Spanish and gave Donte a very awesomely cheesy mustache (and the second also gave one to Virgil and the chick, among other things). The name El Don Te came up and I've insisted on calling him that ever since.

Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! This all sounds very petty. :(
I don't like Cole Mcgrath in inFamous 2 or Delsin in Second Son, in fact I think they're both insults to the first game (which was not rebooted), but I don't come up with derogatory names for them.
Most people didn't like Raiden in Metal Gear Solid 2, but when he's reinvented as a hyper-aggressive cyborg ninja, almost entirely abandoning his previous characterization, in a later game that utterly abandons the mechanics the franchise was built upon, Raiden's suddenly the shit and everyone loves him.
I don't understand how Internet Backdraft and Hype Backlash work apparently.

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).El Don Te isn't a derogatory Fan Nickname so much as it is a nickname for a version of the character that is more amusing.

To quote our own page on Dante's strength...
So I'm pretty confident Dante has surpassed Sparda at this point. We've just never seen Dante exert his full power yet. A part of me wonders how destructive his full power might be.
At least, that's how I'd approach it. The only reason Dante doesn't use his full demonic powers is because it's dangerous to do so.
