Not for Sherlock. He's British .
"Emergency Room" is US speak for the Accident and Emergency department (A&E). ER means a) The Queen or b) a US TV programme

It ain't over 'till the ring hits the lava. And A&E for us Americans is a cable channel (it stands for "Arts & Entertainment" I believe).
Bumping this for news!
The three episodes, set to air in the UK in Autumn 2011, are:
- A Scandal in Belgravia
- The Hounds of Baskerville
- The Reichenbach Fall
The only bad news is that The Reichenbach Fall is being written by Stephen Thompson, who also did The Blind Banker, which was received as the worst of the three episodes, to my knowledge. We can only hope he does better this time.
I didn't think "The Blind Banker" was that bad. Sure, I liked the other ones better, but it wasn't BAD.
But oh man, that sounds exciting. Irene Adler, the Hound(s?) of the Baskervilles, and Reichenbach Falls/The Final Problem in one series? Looks like they picked the most famous 3 stories - it's going to be amazing!
Only, what, four months to go? What with this and Doctor Who, it's going to be a looooong summer...

The original stories are, obviously, A Scandal in Bohemia, The Hound of the Baskervilles and The Final Problem.
Well, yeah. But I love The Final Problem, so... I dunno
I'm not a fan of Stephen Thompson and he's got a really important episode to write so he can't drop the ball
I can't wait, Baskerville was always one of my favourite stories, I'd like to have seen them do The Empty House but anyway, although since it takes place after Reichenbach they could do it for a possible 3rd season
I'm Hoping we'll see More of Mycroft this season

Humour, where would we be without it? In Germany, probablyOh boy, this is gonna be fun =) Just... I hope the resolution to the Cliffhanger ending of the initial "season" will be satisfying, because otherwise a lot of viewers will be very cross with the show's writers =)
Videogames do not make you a worse person... Than you already are.Russel Tovey will be Sir Henry in Hounds
Humour, where would we be without it? In Germany, probablyAccording to Redfacts on Twitter, at the end of the BBC repeat of The Great Game, the announcer said it would be back next year. Is that true and there's been some sort of schedule change?
My Blog: Read and enjoy! My Blogcritics PageThey're filming it at the moment, so it's possible they're thinking of giving it a Christmas/New Year broadcast schedule.
It ain't over 'till the ring hits the lava.According to Wikipedia, it looks it's been pushed back to early 2012.
Eh. Could be worse.
Yeah, confirmation on Den of Geek, at least, that's where I found out.

Anyone else hoping they're not going to promote Irene Adler to love interest again?

The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableFuck yes. Please, please, PLEASE. We've Seen It A Million Times.
Honestly, though, I give these guys enough credit to know not to make that mistake.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.(Talking from the perspective of only seeing the first two episodes)
Although the first episode delightfully plays with the concept, the series still bowed to the obligatory Moriarty-is-behind-everything revision. Though at least the smugglers fit with his modus operandi.
If Moriarty becomes the usual arc villain, why not also let Adler become the arc love interest?

Fresh-eyed movie blogBecause Holmes doesn't need a love interest.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableFrom what we get of Moriarty in the books, him as an arc villain isn't that big a stretch. He's a criminal mastermind with a huge crime ring that Holmes, and I quote, "spent months in a private war against". Sure, he only appears in two stories, but those two stories lay a clear framework for his appearance in adaptations.
Adler only appears once, as someone who thwarts Holmes. Nothing romantic happens between them.
In short—Moriarty-as-Big Bad is straight from the stories, Alder-as-love-interest was added later.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.Sherlock totally has a crush on her from that point onwards, tho, even though he never sees her again. She is..."The Woman".
ophelia, you're breaking my heartIt's not a crush, she was the only woman he had any respect for - and even then because she was the only person to outwit him. More of a Worthy Opponent, if anything.
"You've got your transmission and your live wire, but your circuit's dead." - MediaShe put a damper on Holmes' sexism. That's an achievement in and of itself, which was the point of the story. Watson muddies things by trying to be The Matchmaker from time to time, and later readers latched onto it.
I'm a skeptical squirrelExactly - it's not a "love" thing. It was putting at least one woman on an equal level as men.
I mean, I remember at one point Holmes had gone on a tangent about how unreasonable women were and that the most suspicious behaviour may have something as simple as a misplaced hairclip as the cause. Adler was proof against his assumption of feminine silliness.
"You've got your transmission and your live wire, but your circuit's dead." - MediaAnd in past versions this caused problems. We can't have a misogynist Holmes, he's the hero. So they make it more of a love-interest thing to avoid the issue.
That shouldn't be a problem this time. Forget misogynist, this version of Sherlock is rampantly misanthropic. Which means Irene being on his level should be that much bigger of a deal. She's not the only woman to best him, she's the only person to best him.

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.I've never actually understood why "upgrading" Adler to Love Interest supposedly decreases his mysogyny - just because one fancies a member of the opposite sex it doesn't imply respect. It's just sort of "Finally! A female worthy of me!" It's a much more powerful message if it remains platonic.
Glad that this series seems to be taking it that way and I agree with .
