VeggieTales, now with more 'Narrative'!
We tossed Bone, VeggieTales, and a wee dram o’ whiskey into the blender, mashed the humor button, and poured the story onto the Web. With a splash of Oz and a sprinkle of Narnia, Vegfolk Fables is an all-age-friendly fantastical adventure. No vegetarians please.
Codex & Q

Things are pretty great in the City of Churchi, where the pious, telepathic vegetables live. Sure, the folks are not super rich, but they have their community. Sure, the water contains a certain amount of hypodermic needles and styrofoam, but you can still make good compost from what you catch. Sure, The Church of the Narrative might be oppressive and enforce weird rules in the name of their ever-shifting 'Narrative', but if you ignore them....actually they still will try to get you.

Days went by as usual for quite some time, until suddenly a bug professor and his mushroom intern Rory were flying through dimensions and crash landed in the outskirts of Churchi. They survived the crash, but now must seek refuge in this strange land, while avoiding being discovered by the Church of the Narrative. Fortunately for the two, the locals are willing to hide them and help them adapt to the current events.

Vegfolk Fables is published on Arktoons and produced by the husband-wife duo "Codex & Q", who release updates weekly.

Vegfolk Fables contains examples of:

  • Artificial Limbs: The majority of the Vegfolk have a metallic prosthesis with two poseable arms wrapped around their body. They use their telepathy to move these poseable arms as a way of having functional limbs.
  • Fish out of Water: Rory is from another story that contains the same anthropomorphic telepathic mushrooms. When he goes universe traveling with the Professor, they crash land into Churchi, where he quickly must learn to fit in.
  • Fantasy Helmet Control: The Church of the Narrative bans helmets on harsh punishment. Its not clear why.
  • Fun with Acronyms: The Zeta-Fused Geodesic and the Personal Integrated Safety Shield provided by the Professor.
  • Gargle Blaster: Old Raven Blended Bourbon. As Kit describes it, all of the pain of alcohol, none of the fun. It even burns Rory just to have it poured on his head.
  • Hair-Raising Hare : Rabbit attacks are viewed with horror in universe as the world is populated with sentient vegetables.
  • Mind over Matter: The Vegfolk are able to move objects with their mind as a species. They don’t seem to have any other psychic abilities.
  • Surreal Humor: It has characters across multiple series joined together under one story, referencing events that may or may not be known to the audience while failing to explain or react to fantastic elements. They still squeak some humor out of the situation too.
  • Surrounded by Idiots: The leader of the Church of the Narrative. They brag about how they never question anything told to them, interpret orders in punny ways and the whole lot of them combined can’t accomplish the basic skills that he can perform.
