I find these to be quite a bit more entertaining and thought-provoking than Zero Punctuation.

This guy screen-named "moviebob" talks about video games. Yeah, sure, there's already Zero Punctuation and the Angry Video Game Nerd. He actually notes that, and notes that he tends to either review little-known games, or talk about the industry as a whole.

Perhaps this is one reason I feel he's rather refreshing. There's also the fact that he doesn't talk way too fast (it's funny, but gets old after a while), and also doesn't gratuitously use expletives for humor's sake.

You can find them on You Tube. There are over 20 of them so far. I was introduced to this through someone on here linking his commentary on You Tube, by searching for "game overthinker v#" where # is the video number you're looking for.

Discuss.

His Sonic Retrospective intrigued me.

I like it, but his agenda is so obvious it hurts at times.

His movie reviews are pretty good too. He has a few hilarious moments, though his Sesquipedalian Loquaciousness gets kind of riduculous sometimes. I actually pause the videos frequently because it's so hard to listen to him talk and read the words on screen at the same time.

It would be a lot easier for me if you imagine there's something funny or interesting here.

I'm with Noimporta about the Agenda, unfortunately, it put me right off. I find myself disagreeing with him an awful lot.

I like Moviebob/Game Overthinker much better than either Zero Punctuation or the Angry Video Game Nerd. Yahtzee in particular tends to sound too malicious for my tastes; he reminds me of those people you sometimes see ranting about nothing in parking lots, where you just want to edge away and hope they're not packing. Game Overthinker I can see having a fruitful RL conversation with.

I don't know what you guys mean by his agenda. I don't see an agenda in his videos, just a set of specific and fairly rigid opinions. He's a Nintendo fanboy who misses the old days and hates the homogenization of the industry that has stemmed from the mainstreaming of games with the "hardcore" frat-boy demographic who popularized Real Is Brown. If he has an agenda, it's simply to convince others that this is a lamentable situation, which is hardly outrageous. People like their opinions to be shared.

Maybe "patronising" was a better word. Or maybe I'm oversensitive.

Yeah, he can be a little bit patronizing. I think he may have reached the point where he assumes he's preaching to the choir, so he pretends to talk to his rhetorical opponents in a way that will amuse his rhetorical allies. Or maybe it's a low-grade GIFT infection. The best way to cure that is with fearless self-examination. And zinc tablets.

Obviously, not all of his videos are the best things since sliced bread.

However, do take a look at his "christmas special" video. it's worth it.

Yeah, that one's Made Of Win. Especially where he demonstrates that all video games are educational in some way and to some extent.

Are there a large number of people that don't have PSL for Bayonetta?

She scares me.

I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.

this last episode was downright embarrassing.

I really don't see what you guys are complaining about, really. He's just saying Bayonetta is sexually intimidating. Sure, it's filler, but he makes a good point regarding character design.

Anyone else wondering what he could possibly be having planned for the next episode?

I feel the analysis he used to get there was like something pulled out of the top of his head, he didn't really site sources for any of it, and a lot of his "Hard facts" can still be challenged. It carries on from the "porn" episode he did, which was the same kind of thing.

Why do I get the feeling that he had a run-in with one douchebag and based most of his criticism (and trite little story) on that?

Take a drink.

Actually, it's funny that the Agony Booth calls us "the site ran by people who like everything" and now we're being described as "jaded self-indulgent twats that are unable to enjoy anything"

Keep in mind that he ran an earlier column about how Youtube was ruining the experience of B movies.

I'm guessing piracy. Telling people that stealing is wrong tends to garner angry reactions.

Really? I didn't get that impression at all. It seemed to me like he was saying this is a good site that gives rise to douchebaggery in a certain class of person.
