They should have made the 2D world the focus of the entire episode.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult. The 2D world was clever, but yeah it felt like it should've been a bit more than just gags.
Just have to say, I loved the chick with the dad issues.
Improving as an author, one video at a time. The chick with the "issues that she 'never told anyone about before'".
According to wikipedia the episodes are being aired out of order. The first episode is Forty Percent Leadbelly, which won't air until July 3 and T: The Terrestrial is supposed to have aired between 2-d Blacktop and Fry and Leela's Big Fling, but will air next week.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!Aren't American cable animated TV shows always premiered out of order?
No idea.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!Well, after seeing the season premiere and its follow-up, I had high hopes for this season.
After seeing T: The Terrestrial, I’m beginning to wonder if that was the best they had. My God, the lazy writing (pot jokes and toilet humour? Really? What are you, Robot Chicken?). It’s a shame, as the idea of JRRR trying to bond with his horrible father was one with promise, and the inversion of E.T. was kind of cute.
One thing I did like about this episode: Bender covering for Fry’s absence. Even if we’d already seen that answering machine gag done by another John Dimaggio character, it was still funny.
A more subtle defect of this episode: not enough NDND.

Confirmed Bachelors: the dramedy hit of 1883!Hey, it's me, Fry | I'm | getting drunk | right now, so | just leave.| Ol-love | you."
Fresh-eyed movie blogI still can't shake the feeling that the entire first part of the episode was written the way it was because someone thought of the "it's the Omichronic" pun and really wanted to use it in an episode.
To be fair, it is a really good pun.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. My take was that the writers said, "Hey Futurama never had an ET parody before!", and just used Lurr as a vehicle for it.
Did they say what happened to the copies? Is there still a Fry running around that does nothing but hate Bender?
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.is jrrr the one from the poplers episode?
Yes
Confirmed Bachelors: the dramedy hit of 1883!Tonight's episode had me in stitches.
"It'll blow them all to h— church."
I saw the second half of it, so I was sort of weirded out by it. Will see the rest of it later.

funniest episode of the series, just from nixon's macakreing!
water balloon! that... tickles
fry's...sleeping
then when bender unleashes mayhem, even nixon throws in the towel.
someone needs to air nixon's bits strung together on youtube!
Excellent episode. Liked the G.I. Joe parody the best ("I just landed next to this naturally-occurring fireball."), but all were funny.
Nice to see the subversion of Magical Mystery Doors.
I'm not LGBT. I just think Rain's really cool. Apologies if my humor gets too painful.Anybody have any thoughts this week? Between this thread being dead and my mail client not being open to alert me of my Amazon receipt for Calculon 2.0, I thought there wasn't a new episode this week.

Fresh-eyed movie blogCalculon was fun as always. Now I just hope they never bring him back to life again before we get another Seymour.
deviantArt | TwitterThe first act of the Calculon episode was some of the funniest writing in this season. Especially the “bringing Calculon back to life” scene had me doubled over with laughter.
I missed the animation parody episode last week so I had to catch it this week. The Scooby Doo parody was hacky and old hat, especially the mega-lazy “Shaggy is a stoner” jokes, but the other two segments more than made up for it. “I don’t know which I like better, the original or Type 2.”

I forgot to post my reaction to this premiere. The episodes were nothing really noteworthy. The writing was as sharp as ever, which I really like!
