I actually like the fanservice but I do have a problem if the shit goes overboard & lacks diversity. Seeing the same size T & A over & over again gets real boring after a while.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I've always felt that Hiro's women, despite far larger T&A than Oda's, still look more natural just because their waists are reasonably proportioned. Not that I don't still consider Oda's females attractive though.
¿?¡!Post-skip designs for the female characters are far more realistic than those of the Skypiea era.
The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."I can still claim I like the character designs without rolling my eyes, but I think it's always a good idea for an artist to experiment outside their comfort zones. Oda seems pretty set in stone though, so I'll just take what I get.
"When I was alive, I was a tender soul. Now, I am tenderloin." -Nanako (Senryuu Shoujo)One of the things I like about One Piece is the wide variety of designs, even with the female characters. Sure, you have characters like Nami and Robin who have the whole "hourglass figure" look. But then you also have characters like Lola, Kokoro, Boa Sandersonia, Boa Marigold, and Catarina.
I'm also pretty sure that Charlotte Linlin won't be sporting an hourglass figure, but it's One Piece, so you never know...
We already know she isn't, unless she has form-shifting powers (which would be vaguely redundant to Ivankov, Wapol, and Alvida).
I'll admit the fact that the presumed two most powerful female pirates (Big Mom and Devon) are both ugly makes me a bit uncomfortable, because you just know given Oda's track record this is just so they're okay to beat up.
The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."Really? That's the message you got out of it? Not "Ugliness makes you super powerful" or "Ugliness prevents you from dying in flashbacks" or "You don't have to be pretty to get far in the world?"

Oda is... very protective of his pretty women. Most of us here have agreed it's gotten to the point where it's annoying.
The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."I don't know about protective, seeing how several of them are dead...
Note also, Luffy didn't really go all out on the Boa Sisters until they Scaled Up, if I'm remembering right.
Aren't the Boa Sisters kinda gonkish in design though?
Which ones that? Also well I wouldn't say gonk but not traditionally pretty at least compared to other girls.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."...I think Sandersonia's cute.
The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."I've always thought the snake form was meant to at least partially invoke What Measure Is a Non-Human? on top of any What Measure Is a Non-Cute? granted by Gonkiness
You're not the only one.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyWe still don't know how well Hancock matches up in a serious fight too. All things considered, she was just putzing around at Marineford, much like a lot of the other heaviest hitters there.
She could beat Pacifistas in one hit (albeit they weren't attacking her) which makes her at least as strong as the entire pre-skip crew put together.
...isn't it sad, Lucci?

The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."Oda definitely doesn't have a problem making traditionally beautiful women physically strong or skilled. He hesitates when it comes to showing them getting hit or injured, especially by male characters in close combat.
I don't think a non-gonk woman has been defeated by a man in this series since Enel fried Robin, and outside of Tashigi vs. Monet, the last time I remember one getting significantly hurt by a melee attack on panel was way back when Nami fought Miss Monday.
EDIT: Spandam did beat up Robin quite a bit, but that was largely to show off how cruel he is. I'm talking about treating women equally as men in combat, not in torture situations.

Califa getting fried by Nami or Robin beaten be Spandam are the latest instance I can think of.
Nami did roast both Baby 5 and Kalifa. Not a physical hit, but still a severe one. And Baby 5 took a beating from Franky beforehand.
And about Robin getting zapped... something I noticed there. All the guys that Ener electrocutes have it happen on-panel in pretty graphic detail. Robin, though, just gets a light tap on the shoulder (and she's the first one to wake up, too) while Laki, the female Shandian, gets a Gory Discretion Shot.

The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."Also, I did forget about Usopp's victories against Perona and Sugar. I'm hesitant to count those, though, since both of them were beaten without actually damaging them.
You can also see this demonstrated well in the Everyone vs. Oars fight. The guys are all beaten unconscious by Oars, while Robin is nonviolently KO'd by having her shadow snipped, and Nami is rescued by Nightmare Luffy.
The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."Yeah. He's gotten really out of control with his refusal to actually harm women.
It's pretty fricking ridiculous actually.
One Strip! One Strip!Oda! Grow some balls and beat up your women!
Could Monet be an exception? True, much of her injuries had been clean cuts, but her death was a pretty violent way to go, all things considered.

I really can't stand the hourglass shape the girls seem to have. It's also the reason I don't like Hiro's method of designing his females not all girls have the same Double D's and huge Asses >__>
