Haki isn't total invincibility, but there definitely seems to be "grades" of it. Thus, Vergo < Law < Doffy < Gear 4 Luffy.

Though I doubt Rebecca is joining and I could see Riku wanting to relinquish the throne (though everyone else would convince him not to) why would Rebecca become queen; Viola is still around.

Depends on how Dressrosan succession works. In England for instance, First Grandchild does indeed trump Second Child.

it also depends on whether or not they'll even care about proper succession law. My own theory is if it isn't one of the proper successors (Viola or Rebecca) then Kyros will become King. The man was pretty much on the forefront of Dressrosa's liberation movement from day one. He had gained esteem before that as an army captain, and he seems to be trusted by the people and definitely is by the Tontatta.

Also would Rebecca be eligible under succession law? I'd think that Scarlet (and through her, Rebecca) gave up her claim by faking her death. That was the entire point of doing so, to let her be with Kyros without status or obligation getting in the way.

Yeah, Kyros has shown leadership skills worthy of the successor to the throne. Don't forget that Rebecca's not supposed to do anything except let Daddy protect her.

Watching Ep. 699, when Koala's chewing out Sabo for fighting Fujitora, I'm really starting to hear the Kaname that I wasn't hearing before.

I think it'd be pretty cool if Rebecca joined the crew, as long as she gets to do something. And gets a better outfit.

... You know, part of me is hoping that Doflamingo gets offed while everyone has their back turned by one of Kaido's guys, who was just waiting to pull a You Have Failed Me. Would make for an ominous reminder for what's on the horizon.

About Dressrosa's throne, I just want them to stop with their Actual Pacifist ways, no matter who is the king or queen.

I don't think Rebecca could add anything as a Straw Hat, even less than Shirahoshi, and people were adamant that she shouldn't/couldn't join - and she had the whole giant mermaid thing, plus, you know, being an ancient weapon.

Besides Oda is way too deep now to try and turn around his sexism on a dime. No way he's putting his precious cinnamon roll out in the dangerous world of action fiction.

If he really wants to make this like Alabasta, may as well throw a curveball crew member.

I'd rather have ten Shirahoshi/Rebecca-like characters join the crew than Boring Swordsman #12 from Boring Wano, the Country of Boring.

I'd love to see a curveball female character join the crew again but I don't think literally any female character had a good showing this arc. I think the best was Koala, maybe, and that's more of a neutral performance than a positive one.

God thinking about this arc and its treatment of women gives me a headache.

If there was a curveball female joining I would like it to be Wicca.

Incidentally, I recently learned that, in Japan, overprotectiveness, such as Kyros toward Rebecca, is actually considered an extremely high compliment, believe it or not. It's a sign of love and respect for the protect-ee. Pretty much the exact opposite of how it's seen in the West.

I'm holding out that Senor Pink does something to help the crew in the end in likeness to Bon Clay.

Dressrossa joins the Strawhats and starts following their ship.Any enemies are crushed by it's landmass.

Viola actually would be a good fit, although she'd steal a bit of Robin's thunder in the Recon sector, she's bold, proactive, powerful, likes Sanji, but has elements of The Atoner for working with Doffy's crew that might make her want to walk away from Dressrosa for a while.

Edit: the issue with all of the non-Shirahoshi is that none of these candidates really have dreams. Shirahoshi wanted to see the forest (which one could extend to be "see the world"), but Rebecca, Viola, Kin'emon, or even Jinbe, don't really have a driving motive.

She wouldn't look too out of place, but at the same time she might just take over the kingdom for King Riku.
