Didn't some of the best DMC 3 and 4 combo vids also use mostly the same moves over and over again?
Someone asked in the Headscratchers page long ago if Dante can be considered a Designated Hero after the events of this game. Well...is he?
Isn't the page still locked anyway?
I'd probably consider him. Dude's an asshole.
Bleye knows Sabers.Well considering his actions have just unleashed demons who were unknown yet relatively harmless to be known by the entire world.

Only the main page and YMMV pages are locked.
In addition to basically destroying civilization as it was and forcing people to deal with demons who had up until then been mind-controlling them, he also basically went entirely against the message of the game, that people should have freedom to choose. Vergil basically does not have a means to control the humans but still wants to rule them.
In effect, people have to choose to follow him. And Dante says no, that humans shouldn't even have the option to make themselves safer by following a powerful leader.
Very big Daydream Believer. "That's not knowledge, that's a crapshoot!" -Al Murray "Welcome to QI" -Stephen FryThat's another major difference I just realized between the two continuities; in the original games, it's all about keeping the status quo, that is keeping demons from attacking the human world and turning it into hell/enslaving humans/eating humans/etc. Dm C is all about changing the status quo, which in this case is demons having already taken over in secret. The old games are much more clear cut and black and white in that regard. What makes things messy is that Dm C tries to present changing the status quo as only a good thing when it's really more of a gray area when you think about it.

Thunder, Thunder, Thunder...That's a pretty obvious misinterpretation of teh game's plot, don't you think?
Dante said humans shouldn't be ruled by NON HUMANS. Non humans who have nothing but contempt for the species. The only difference betweeN Vergil and Mundus' gang is Vergil is nicer about it.
You don't have a racist asshole rule a race he feels is weak and stupid and would die on its own. That's all Dante was doing by fighting against his brother.
Dante is very much in this for himself for much of the game but he becomes a legitimate hero when he opposes Vergil. Until this point, his family has ben the one thing he really cared about. Freeing humanity was just what his family was doing so he'd do it. Revenge too was alsoa factor. But in the end he chooses to fight his own blood for the sake of the human race.

Did they really? Or did they try to show that changing the status quo was a gray area but ended up making a mistake of portraying Dante's decisions as 100% good in the first place?
It could have been that. To me it seemed like the only thing intentionally made a gray area was Vergil and his methods. I think Mundus mentions something about how it's better for humans if he's in charge, but it just didn't feel to me like it being portrayed as gray, or as gray as it could be. Changing the status quo is meant to be good in this game, even if Vergil's methods are questionable.
Thunder, Thunder, Thunder...When mundus is spouting cliche villain lines its hard to believe the author wants you think there's some upside to him being in charge.

Well, looks like Dm C Devil May Cry 2 is officially never going to happen.
And There Was Much Rejoicing for some I bet.
Oh wait, they updated it and have denied it now.

Played the game for free on PS+.
What I liked:
1. The Paranoia Fuel in how demons manipulated and controlled humanity.
2. the SICK level design.
3. Mundus as a character.
4. the soundtrack
What I didn't like:
1. Dante and Vegil both character-wise and appearance-wise. And Kat was forgettable at best.
2. Wasting two buttons on grappling mechanics.
3. The new lore about Sparda and pointlessly adding angels into the mix.
4. Some annoying camera angles and absence of enemy targeting.
5. Mundus as a boss. Nowhere near as epic as the original.
All-in-all, a fun game, but still inferior to the classic series.

Also, no alternate control scheme like the one in Bayonetta for Classic!DMC fans.
I thought Bayonetta had only one control scheme.
Inputs I meant, for Bayo's stinger equivalent and launchers, of course without lock on it wouldn't work, but this shouldn't have two dodge buttons, one is enough.
Agreed. At least two buttons were unfortunately made redundant.
I just don't get how Ninja Theory could neglect a lock-on feature. Never mind that this is a modern HnS game, the feature's been in this series since its 2001 inception. It should just be second nature by this point.
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The Madthe angry DMC player in me wants to say that they were trying for a more fluid and less constrained system which would've allowed for easier switching between enemies, but simply didn't account at all for how this would affect ranged attacks or other direction based attacks.
the less personal part of me says the same, but also that they acknowledged those downsides and thought them not enough of a hinderance to keep going.
Very big Daydream Believer. "That's not knowledge, that's a crapshoot!" -Al Murray "Welcome to QI" -Stephen FryOf course, neither case looks good on them.
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadEven the critics who generally liked the game thought the lack of a hard lock-on was a sore point.
Anyway, well, over a year after its initial release, and I finally played through all of the game since it was free on Playstation Plus. To sum it up, it was...okay. Not too bad, but nothing really standout about it either as far as gameplay is concerned, and is a bit on the boring side. I did like how the game actually rewards you for exploration, and I wouldn't mind seeing some of the weapons in a proper DMC game. Most of the enemy demons, with the exception of the Dreamrunners, suck, even ones that should be awesome like the chainsaw guys. Likewise the bosses were pretty lame as well, the only boss that I would say is outright fun is Vergil, and even his boss fight is a joke compared to his boss fights in the main series.
Overall, it was alright. Shit story aside, it's something you can play on a slow sunday afternoon. On the bright side, I'm playing through the Vergil DLC, and it's much better than the main game so far.
"I'll show you fear, there is no hell, only darkness." My twitterNot surprising. It never struck me as anything more than decent in its own right (but still inferior to, say, DMC3) at best. Again, the biggest stigma for the game was the DMC label. If this was a different IP that happened to have a similar story/thematic focus and gameplay mechanics to DMC, things would be different. Probably not too different, but the backlash would've been far less severe.
Yeah, I had that impression too. Probably because he's not tied down by a clunkier weapons system like his brother is, so the combat flow is smoother. Makes me wonder if they should've just went for POV reversal and made the entire game with Vorg Vergil in mind. Would've sort of made up for how Vergil Mode in 3:SE didn't add anything to the plot other than two cutscenes.
The video is kinda cool, but the guy seems to be always repeating the same moves… I can't even count the number of Prop Shredders (I don't remember the name of the scythe variant) he did in 3 minutes. It would be justified if it was a Nero video, but Donte supposedly has 8 weapons he can switch to… And it also seems the video is sped up; unless there is a Turbo Mode in the PC version?
