That sounds a bit more like a comedy than a serious story.

I'd really love to see that kind of story played out more on the serious side.

I'll need to look into it either way though. It sounds super interesting.

I have to say tho, as a analog game enthusiast, the second chapter rustled my jimmies with it's inaccuracies.

Jesus Christ, I just watched a video ranking the most overpowered female characters in anime, and Madoka was ranked 7th. She re-wrote the universe at her whim and transcended reality to become a fundamental concept, and she's ranked 7th?

..... so if a person only wants to import the original releases in YOI, they can't because they now have to abide by seemingly boneheaded rules without any publically-released reason for boy bands/idols they want nothing to do with?!

Finished Kiddy Girl-and the other day. It was okay. Goofier than Kiddy Grade, but much less purely comedic than I was expecting, especially after the first few episodes. The characters were reasonably likable, and the animation quality was generally up-to-par and much more consistent than Kiddy Grade's. The story was fairly tropey and generic, and never really went full yuri like I was hoping it would. Overall, I enjoyed watching it but it didn't strike me as being as original or memorable as Kiddy Grade.

Next up is Toaru Majutsu no Index. I watched Railgun last year and largely enjoyed it, but I hear Index is more straight-up shounen action without so much of the SOL CGDCT stuff. In any case, JC Staff seems to have done a very professional job on Railgun and I'm hoping Index holds up just as well.

So I've finally gotten around into watching Gintama. I'm about half way through the original series and I'm glad I finally took the plunge. I was reluctant because the amount I had to catch up on but this series is hilarious.

From what I understand Digimon Adventure Tri has wrapped up in Japan. When are we getting an English Dub?

Well, this is interesting.◊ Didn't realize that Jump goes through so many new titles every year, and most of them don't last more than half a year.

......What the hell. So not only are we getting less and less on-going animes being made today, but SHONEN Jump mangas are becoming shorter too!

Its been that way since the late 90s, they always are struggling to find the next DBZ and just throw away anything that doesn't blow up to unrealistic expectations.

That's why you don't read anything new in jump ever.

I've watched a few episodes of Speed Racer here and there. In fact when I was a kid I had a VHS copy of The Speed Racer Movie, which was just three episodes of the show edited together into a movie. I know about Racer X and Inspector Detector, but outside of those two and Speed's family, and Trixie I guess, I don't know of any recurring characters. Like, does Speed have an arch enemy, or rival, or anything like that?

It's mainly just "____ of the week" types.

So Dragon Dentists happened. It's... uneven. There's a number of ideas on display here, but they feel thrown together almost at random. Some are interestingly weird, others are fairly mundane, a handful are pretty dumb, and none of them quite connect into a cohesive narrative. While the end result is something unlike anything else I've seen, it's not really a satisfying experience
