TBH, I only cried because of the other characters, the Requiem itself was too JUST AS PLANNED for me to be upset over; it was the other characters sadness that I responded too. Lelouch was having his own private moment of triumph there.

I agree, I felt really sad for the others. I think we, the readers, were in practically the same situation as the characters. We knew about a lot of stuff, but we were disappointed at Lelouch, and then Zero comes out of Left-Fielder with a BFS and dodging bulets and we know what's going to happen and we start thinking 'NO! THERE MUST BE ANOTHER WAY! STOP! NO! HE COULDN'T! SUZAKU! LELOUUUUUUUUCH!!!!''

That was my initial reaction. Keep in mind that I don't cry much at stories to begin with. In hindsight it was more depressing than I saw it at the time; but I think was distracted by how darn silly that pink jeweled sword was and Schneizel looking drugged. I was also annoyed by the ending. It just doesn't seem believable to me that world peace would last for a long time—maybe while Nunnally is in power, but it seems iffy after that.

Suzaku makes me lol a lot in general, but I suspect this is because of that one picture drama where everyone cross-dressed. That kind of ruined my perception of him permanently. Also, Yaoi Goggles.

Schneizel ALWAYS looked drugged.

From what little I've heard of it, it's still a more dignified and mature exit than that little Yagami brat's.

^^ Yeah, but Light's death was way less Ho Yay-tastic. Or if it was Ho Yay-tastic, you'd have to read a lot more into it than you would with Zero Requiem.

This said, I have yet to see a work of fiction where after stabbing someone the stabber really mimics the sexual act by pulling and pushing the blade in-and-out.

And I don't see why being Ho Yay-ish is a bad thing. (Yes, I ship it, but even that aside the friends/enemies/allies/whatever bond between Lelouch and Suzaku was the things that interested me most about Code Geass and so I found the conclusion kind of touching.)

The anime of Death Note added it's own Ho Yay for Light's death, with that vision or whatever of L.

Ho Yay doesn't make it bad, but it made the scene less depressing for me, since I was partially making a face and partially making a face. There might have also been some in there, too.

I may have snapped a little because I associated your comments with some others I have seen in the past, which basically said that Ho Yay automatically makes things objectively bad or just silly because homoerotic implications can never be taken seriously. (Yes, I have seen this claimed about Code Geass.)
