Two Best Friends Play:

It's kinda morbid, but it makes sense. Something that's over-the-top bad can be a lot more entertaining and memorable than something that's simply good. So Bad, It's Good vs. So Okay, It's Average.

I'm reminded of the time years ago when Matt and Pat were alternating between playing The Last of Us and Deadly Premonition. One of them was a highly-polished triple-A title that, as far as Matt and Pat were concerned, seemed to do everything right. The other was janky, buggy, and had bad sound mixing and a plot that constantly teetered on the edge of complete nonsense. Matt and Pat couldn't decide which game they were more excited to keep playing.

It seems to me like it's less that they're liking the game and more that they want to see all of the garbage twists and turns that it takes.

The guys, well Liam anyway, really liked Life is Strange. Well the guys who made that just put out a game called Vampyr, where you play as a doctor who gets bit by a vampire and have to balance giving in to your animal cravings and saving lives as a doctor. Is there any chance the Best Friends, or Liam, are going to play this on a channel?

Liam might play it, but idk about the others. I might grab it myself cuz it seems interesting.

Most likely Matt and Liam will take turns on their channels as they did with Life Is Strange: Before the Storm.

EA had their press conference today. Are they doing a live reaction for that one?

According to Pat they'll live react to Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, and Square Enix. The others are on an individual basis, e.g. only Pat did EA.

Marcus finally finds and acquaintances himself in Jericho, while Connor (hopefully) doesn't die during another deviant investigation. Good news, he lives past one chapter! Even Pat is starting to show some...feelings for keeping him alive.

Meanwhile, the crew tries their hands on Arc System Works's other major fighting game this year: BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle. Or the game that allows Max to play as "Gambit" since MvC2

Further revelations and/or cracks in the worldbuilding in Detroit:

Turns out the active ingredient in the drug "red ice" is thirium—aka the main component of the androids' "blue blood". The Zaibatsu say this overt symbolism is "classic David Cage", but on top of that, the more we learn about thirium, the less sense it makes. Apparently thirium is rare and important enough that there are fears of World War 3 starting over disputed thirium-rich territories. But there's still enough left over for it to become a drug—in fact, the most popular illegal drug in any city with android manufacturing, and one that even the unemployed can afford to use. In spite of both of those, decommissioned androids are simply dumped into an open pit, without having their precious, precious thirium drained and recycled by either the android manufacturers or the drug manufacturers.

I wonder if Cyberlife and similar companies are the ones really making and distributing red ice. You know, as part of a two-prong "kill the poor" campaign:

1. Create androids to steal blue-collar jobs from the people who need them the most.
2. Offer your new unemployed population drugs so they'll die sooner.

It's over-the-top evil, but I get the feeling it would fit right in with this plot.

Also there are android children. That's just disturbing.

I'm surprised they've managed to find good things in the game, Markus and Connor have the better stories honestly.

Its really weird cause like...They did a Fisticuffs for Central Fiction and they had plenty of fun at the time.

That's actually why I asked, because it's really confusing how much of a 180 it looks like. And, I'm not someone who can play fighting games more complex than Smash Bros, so this isn't me being upset or anything at them disliking Cross Tag.

The playthrough of Detroit: Humanity Go Up continues.

Matt successfully guided Kara to escape the creepy sex dungeon. It kinda felt like the whole thing was just a Wacky Wayside Tribe, except it resulted in Luther joining the party, so maybe it's not filler? Still, the sequence was genuinely suspenseful, when it wasn't ridiculously on-the-nose. ("But who's the real monster?")

Woolie apparently picked the bad choice (and chose so quickly, he completely missed two of his options) by running away from the guards and skipping 90% of the scene. But I gotta call BS on the game saying that the mission was therefore a complete failure. Markus got some supplies for Jericho—not enough to save everyone, but more than they had before, which was literally nothing. When you guys are doing absolutely jack to help yourselves, you don't get to guilt-trip the guy who tried to save you and didn't quite succeed.

It's also BS that Markus can take as long as the player wants planning out his sweet parkour moves, indicating that he does all those calculations near-instantaneously—but then the game puts an arbitrary time limit on major story decisions.

And Pat, unfortunately, seems to be cruising towards a bad end for Hank. It seems he missed an important piece of info in Hank's house, and then his decision to shoot the sexbot made Hank like him less. But in Pat's defense, isn't it great Hank starts off complaining about humans getting attached to androids rather than forming real relationships with real humans, then switches to feeling sorry for the android sexbots—just in time so he can dislike you for shooting the sexbot in self-defense?

Also, I feel like the prompt on that decision was too vague. The options just say "Shoot" or "Spare", but what specifically does "Spare" mean? Does it entail warning the androids and giving them a chance to surrender—or just putting the gun away and letting the androids go free? How is the player supposed to know?
