@Locoman: I thought you were joking at first. But even then that's probably one of the biggest Like You Would Really Do It thing I've seen in a while. No singular fiction has ramifications that can be that far reaching. Heck not even the stuff I want to happen (like Unite Warriors brining Armada Thrust and Prime Breakdown back from the dead) can really affect the canon they're supposed to be based on.

Also, I like the Optimus Max avatar mate. Miss the Cat one, but this one's nice.

@Joe: Honestly, I think there's going to be a sympathetic reason for it. Maybe the person (Vector Prime) who "sacrificed" themselves is alive and will die if they transform, or maybe Carcer's a malevolent titan and Transforming wouldn't do them any good. I'm curious, but I really hope Obsidian is wrong and this doesn't turn out to be an enormous case of "Could Have Avoided This!" Plot by simply communicating.

That said, The Transformers: Till All Are One is easily my favorite of the three ongoings. Optimus Prime is ok, but I need to get a better feel for where it's going. Not too fond of the arc. Lost Light is shining between clever, mysterious and funny and tedious and trying too hard to be funny. TAAO has been pretty good when the Titans show up. I love the character interaction and ideas present there. And everyone doesn't sound like a Joss Whedon creation so that's a plus.

Anyway, I just got Takara Unite Hardhead, and he's pretty great. Though question to anyone who owns the figure in this or the Hasbro version, does anyone have problems with the hatch on the Tank Turret? When I open mine it pops off the hinge because the pegs are tiny. I was wondering if anyone else had that problem. Nothing's broken, and I won't return it because I doubt I'd get a Takara Headmaster that cheap again, but I need to know if anyone else has that problem?

Huh. Those kinda sound logic.

...Elita-One's still a witch for not helping Cybertron during its Darkest Hour. tongue

Btw, you guys think the IDW universe will ever have Unicron? Maybe they could rework him so that he's Onyx Prime's nonsentient humanoid (Cybertronianoid?) war machine and to establish how big a deal Unicron is, Onyx could make an example out of the Galactic Council?

It's not like anyone's gonna miss that gang of fascistic asshats, right?    evil grin

I still think the comic will end in a way that Elita will still be sympathetic. I'm withholding judgement for now though.

As for Unicron, your theory is interesting I'll admit. A non-beast former doesn't feel like Onyx's style though.

I remember a really good Transformers Mosaic which imagined Unicron as a being of chaos rather than a being of evil. A thing who's morality, while comprehendible, is so far removed from what the norm is that he's considered evil. I really liked the idea that the Junkion's worshipped him because of their existence in trash and ruin. The Junkions weren't bad people either, they just admired the disorder which he represented.

[up] Ah, see I forgot how Onyx Prime is evidently the Prime of Beastformers.

I was mostly remembering how Galvatron was painting Onyx as a Bigger Bad when I was posting that last post.

I thought it was Sentinel who painted him as the upcoming Big Bad. That's lead the the speculation that the 3rd Prime Wars tie-in will be Beast Fromers (the Predacons being the much hoped for new toys).

I think Trypticon will play into the new scheme. He's a beast-bot, he's got the "monster from an age long past" backstory, and he's got the new toy coming out.

Here's a link to the incident in question.

Considering that Fun Pub lost the licence, and considering that they're kind of the guys who created the concept of the multiverse, I think a lot of people were expecting something like this from them in their final hour.

Titans Return Wave 4 just got revealed.

That is a find looking Quake and Krok, and kudos to that Topspin. As always, I'll see what Takara has first.

That Krok makes me want the TFCC version even more, anybody know where I can get on under $100?

TargetmasterJoe Since: May, 2013
#1961: Jan 6th 2017 at 8:17:02 PM

[up] If you must know, TFSource had TFCC!Krok for $74.95

But he's out of stock there, so whatever.

Honestly, the Skullsmasher mold seems pretty appropriate for Krok...because his name sounds like "Croc"...as in "Crocodile".

I wonder how soon will we get other members of the Scavengers. There're been rumors of Misfire hopefully coming somewhere down the line.

Yeah, I checked Tfsource first. He's either over $120 or sold out everywhere I can find.

As for Misfire: Yeah, I'm sure he and Slugslinger will get figures. There's a few space-jets out already. They'll be headmasters too though, sadly. Maybe we'll see Crankcase from Kup?

TargetmasterJoe Since: May, 2013
#1963: Jan 7th 2017 at 11:12:25 AM

[up] Hey, you might be onto something about having Crankcase from Kup!

It looks like you can use Kup's guns to replicate Crankcase's Choom-Choom Cannons.

Probably the only downside(?) is that the remolded head mode won't have the gaping damage Crankcase's head has in the IDW comics, but beyond that, it sounds totally doable!

EDIT: Titans Return Wave 4 in-hand images!

I love Topspin's big jet boosters. And I especially dig how two of them become his heel spurs! That's a nice touch IMO!

Yeah, but the guns can't fold over his shoulders for use. Kind of like Animated Blitzwing.

And I would prefer a symmetrical head.

Topspin could be a potential Slugslinger. He doesn't look too much like him in Robot mode, but then again neither did Generations Tracks.

Chefatron's got a bunch of new figures he's reviewing. That video's Black Shadow.

Feel free to help out, just signal boosting this or whatever you damn kids call it now.

Okay, last month, I ordered Unite Warriors Bruticus from Amazon and I got him today (which is surprising because it was supposed to show up on January 23rd at the earliest and February 10th at the latest).

I fiddled around with the Combaticons and...there are some problems.

Onslaught:

  • the ratchets in his hips are too far apart.
  • his left knee is UNBELIEVABLY loose.

Vortex:

  • one of the rotor blades is looser than the others and is prone to falling off.

Blast Off:

  • Hip joints are crazy loose.
  • legs don't like to stay together and the tail fin doesn't help.

Brawl:

  • He's got loose joints all over the place.

Swindle:

  • legs don't like to stay together.

Bruticus:

  • he's not fun to pose.
  • the thumb/heel pieces in Brawl and Swindle's hand-feet-guns are very loose and don't make a clicky noise like Superion's.
  • Swindle in leg mode just falls apart.
  • Blast Off doesn't like to stay together in arm mode.

In hand, they look great. But a lot of the issues are really ruining the set for me.

...did I get a defective set? The seller from Amazon was named "A-Store from Japan" and they got a 94% rating.

There's been a lot of stories of poor QC on Unite Warriors Bruticus, so it's not really surprising. A lot of your issues I've read about before (Loose Brawl, Blastoff's legs not sticking togheter) Still, sucks you got a bum set :( There's some good sets out there but above average bad ones too.

[up]Aw man! I can't believe I didn't know about those earlier!

And those stories are all from July 2016! You'd think they'd have fixed it by now!

Head Desk.

Maybe I should have gotten UW!Computron instead...

I mean, you (as in I) keep saying you want some more Decepticons in your collection and the world decides to punish you for it...

That's... actually really disheartening to hear actually. I was planning on getting Bruticus, but damn there are a lot of QC stories abounds. Way too many reviews end up highlighting something wrong with the set, and I was actually saving up... damn it. QC debates also stopped me from pulling the trigger on Victorion.

Though I still stand behind a Computron rec 100%. He's probably the best figure I got that was released in 2016. My figure's got no problems and while I've read some negative issues from owners, there's far less than with Bruticus.

Combiner Wars has been pretty shit with the Cons honestly. Of the original combiners Menasor's flawed at a design level and Bruticus's QC is all over the place. Devastator's decent enough, though his shortcomings can be irksome (and I can defend most of them, except the Mixmaster breakage, that's just unacceptable). Meanwhile Superion, Defensor, and Computron have all been released to solid reception (even if Hasbro Computron has some arguable QC). Sure the Optimus mold sucks and the Sky-lynx mold has it's issues, but the updated G1 figures have all been well realized successes.

The only real quality control issue my Hasbro Bruticus has that I can think of is Swindle's handfootgun, which has floppy fingers.

Since he's a leg and his handfootgun is a foot, it's kind of a moot point.

This place is careless.

@ Ghilz:

Nah, I saw what you did there, and yeah, I guess I really did get deceived.

Actually, it all puts a damper on things, doesn't it? Do I contact A-Store from Japan and/or complain to Amazon and ask for a new Bruticus?

Do I try my luck at a different website like BigBadToyStore.com?

Or do I just cut off my losses, return my crappy Bruticus set and get myself UW!Computron?

Dunno what the return policies are for amazon/your seller.

If it was BBTS, I'd say just email them with pictures, and they'd immediately send you a replacement, coz BBTS customer support is stellar.

Alternatively, a lot of it might be fixeable. Loose joints can be tightened with future floor polish (ask if you don't know how, that shit works and is really easy and the figure collector's best friend). For the legs not joining properly, check the forums if people have found a fix. Might be as simple as shaving a tab with a nail file or a nail clipper.

Contact your seller/amazon. Worst case is they'll say no, so you'll be where you were and won't have lost anything.

Sure the Optimus mold sucks and the Sky-lynx mold has it's issues, but the updated G1 figures have all been well realized successes.

Except for Sky-Lynx. Who lost his lynx half :(

Double Post

So speaking of Xmas haul, got my mitts on MP Shockwave and MP Soundwave (Hasbro Asia Version, with 5 Cassettes). Both look awesome, Former was on sale too. Love that Shockwave comes with stickers and accessories to replicate animation errors

Takara announced MP-38 Beast Wars Supreme Commander Optimus Primal. It's a repaint and remold of MP-32 Optimus Primal, in toy colors. Including the mutant mask, and the blue swords of the original as opposed to the show-colored toys. I guess for people who don't want a show accurate version? Not sure why you'd go for that.
