He needs to lose the centre-part, though. Bangs might be too effeminate and high-maintenance, but if he's gonna wear his hair long and pretty he should give it a bit of shape.

I think he looked best with short hair, honestly.

His hair looks fine now that it actually looks like he washes it. I dunno if he just used crappy shampoo before or what.

Second part of the ring. Trigger warning: There's a scary bit at the end. If Spoony's Roland video gave you nightmares, close the video after he's done reviewing the actual game.

Spoony's situation scares the crap out of me, because if my parents didn't raise me proper when they did and get me proper mental health treatment on Australia's Medicare like they did, and maybe hung out with that kid from primary school who always skipped the parts of Scarface leading up to the Cool Finale, maybe my life would have made me into a somewhat skeezy unstable bag of manic depression too.

I have this rule where if somebody wrongs me directly or indirectly (ie, from the other side of the world online) they don't get refollowed for a second time. Because out of all the parts of the Star Wars prequels, the part where Obi Wan is lamenting what has become of his apprentice as he yells "We were brothers Anakin!" is the one that stuck out to me all these years. I have no delusions that Spoony regards me as his Obi Wan on any level of reality, but the last time I felt this nervous about a celebrity going off the rails, Michael Jackson ended up dead. Not saying Spoony's as famous as Michael Jackson, but the parallels of being hounded by the (new) media and being accused of being a Complete Monster until his mental instability does him in... yeah, there's some connection there.

Worse, the main reason why I hold out hope Spoony recovers is because we've gotta get some more positive role models for depression sufferers than Kurt Cobain. Maybe I'm just not looking hard enough, a decent Wiki search would probably do it, but damn. It hurts me whenever I see somebody, even if I only know them from a silly internet review show, go down in flames from depression. I know not all of us can be Hideaki Anno and make a mecha deconstruction anime to sort our problems out with, but I guess my naive hope that things will turn out for the guy may be a projection of my own terrifying notions that if he can't get through this, what hope do I have to beat depression if everybody starts thinking depression turns people into douchebag creepers?

Yeah, I refollowed him on Twitter today since things seemed to be improving. But as soon as things get bad, and as much as it may hurt for me to do it, I'll unfollow him if he goes Charlie Sheen again.

Is it wrong that I feel like even the worst seeming people are worth saving if they suffer from similar demons? Or am I just one of those naive folk who will get murdered three seasons into Game Of Thrones?

EDIT: Oh God, I just realised there was a trope for this type of "He's so dangerous... but my love can save him!" fanboying. Troubled, but Cute. Good Lord, it's come to this.

@New Geek Philosopher: As someone who also suffers depression too, I feel you pal. I'm still not following him on Twitter, but this review of The Ring is the first video of him I've seen in months. I don't think is wrong that you have hope he will get better, we all do that for the people we like or admire, and even if he doesn't you shouldn't think you won't be able to defeat your own demons.

Now, let's cheer up a little, here's a kitty and a puppy:

Spoony's tweets are back to normal. I wouldn't hold his past screw-ups against him.

I'm heartened by the improvement in quality in this latest review. Sure, he beat a few jokes to death (Noah should leave the memes to his fans, mm kay?). But it's still the best coverage he's done in a long while. I like Counter Monkey as much as the next chap, but enough is enough.

Hi everyone smile. As I still consider myself a huge fan of Spoony's work, even considerering all the unpleasantness that happened, I would very much like to watch his new The Ring videos. Just wanna ask you two quick questions before I do so, however:

1. Are there more screamers/jump scares in them, like in his Paranormal Acticity 4 review? sad Because, let me tell you, on that one, I had the sound up way high, as usual, and it was one of the biggest scares of my life; and now I'm understandably cautious about his videos. sad

2. Does the storyline continue from the end of his Ultima 9 review?

Thanks very much in advance. smile

[up] 1) No, but there is a more traditional scary moment like the Madness of Roland in the Ring Pt. 2, and I believe you mean 'startling'

2) No, not really. He still has the awesome Blade Runner gun, though.

New Greek Philosopher: I was in much the same boat as you. Remember that many people suffer from depression and transform it into something better. I remember Jim Carrey had a shitty early life and suffers from bipolar depression. Remember that just because you don't see the successes as often, it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Also remember that Noah is a person and we're seeing some of the worst of him. He's been pretty skeezy for probably a bit over a year now because of where he's been for a while and a lack of effective help. He's been an asshole, but he at least recognizes that and seems to be trying to do better. That's progress at least.

Fell Deeds Awake: 1. Screamers? No. What's there is reminicent of The Madness of Roland video, as mentioned before 2. Ultima IX's story, no. The Spoony Experiment's overall arc, yes. It's got a major plot twist in the end that's been heavily hinted at in the past. It also leads directly into the Final Fantasy XIII review.

Needs a new signature.

[up]1.) No but there is another weird thing in the end. If you could handle the face melting thing from a few years ago you could handle this.

2.) Yes but only at the last second.

If the FFXIII review doesn't at some point involve Spoony stopping mid-sentence and sobbing, "MA-TIIIII!", I will be disappointed.

So Spoony's having another twitter meltdown apparently.

I really hoped he was getting better but he's freaking out because people liked FF 13's soundtrack.

Why the heck he is talking about having to throw script in thrash because half of it is about how unmemorable 13's music is? .-.

Anyhoo, I suppose when you have problems you get it launched by things that sound silly to other people tongue Maybe he finds it stupid himself when he calms down, maybe not.

He's freaking because, as the signature hater of FF in internet reviews, he thought that one of the worst games in the series wouldn't have had fans in, of all things, the music department. It boggles his mind so badly that he's snapped.

Is he going to do XIII-2? Because he'd probably give focus to the 'Crazy Chocobo' song in regards to the soundtrack.

Why is it such a big deal to him that his point with the soundtrack has pre-emptively disproved?

I mean; he such have plenty of things to dig into with FFXIII. The soundtrack is IMO one of the only things in the game that aren't bad or bland, or some combination thereof. He should be able to find plenty of material in the character arcs and the gameplay.

Look, Spoony of all people (coughHighlandercough) should know that franchises are held to a different standard.

You're never going to convince some people to quit playing Final Fantasy games.

I think he mentioned a while back that he was going to do XIII-2 alongside XIII, and it was part of the reason he wasn't going to do XIII at the time.

Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.
