Was he really talking about Miles? I thought he was his younger brother and he specifically said this was his older brother.
Oh dear... my brain blew a fuse at Dupre's resurrection. The following calm, natural sounding explanation of his good memories of the older games was genuinely uncomfortable to watch.
Well, this was weird, but I mean that in a good way. Even though this installment was light on funny moments, I couldn't help but be impressed with it.
Orion Aurora:
The scene looked staged to me. I mean it seemed like the crowd was in on it. Am I stating the obvious? >_>

According to the comments, it was staged at Con Bravo.
Just wow. That was an amazing conclusion. His recounting of his childhood memories of Ultima was really powerful. It really reinforces just how personal the game and this review was. I loved the other parts, but the finale solidifies Ultima IX as my favorite review.
Needs a new signature.I haven't finished watching yet, but what's really getting to me about this review are the circles around Noah's eyes. Poor guy must be exhausted.
I will peel your skin off and put you in a box full of hungry rats. All because I feel like it.I was told it was a makeup job.
He's had a very rough couple of months.

Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatThe eye circles are makeup. I figured it out some time into the review, but for a good while, i really thought it was real.
Man I thought the stuff was actual bags under his eyes. I've seen bags before but THAT would have been the icing on the depression cake.
Is it selfish that I'm happy as we pass the setting sun?He had me up till he started whining that his life sucks... and no one can understand it or compare to his pain.
Oh please Noah, It might be his real life stress bleeding in but all i got out of it was once again its the universe revovles around Noah and we mere peons should die at his command
good grief...
Listen. Normally I'd agree, but that story about him and Miles sold it to me. It's not just that his favorite series was destroyed, it's that his childhoold was tainted.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.Yeah but I think it was less Reality Subtext and more played for drama with his character. I think he has planned this long before his firing happened. Some of it was quite staged.

It was the "I bet None of you have lived to see the things you love degrade" bit that rubbed me the wrong way... Seeing I've sat in a hospital room for about a month watching my Grandfather succumb to the final stages of his cancer. Trust Me Trivializing that to him being broke up over the Games he loved ending up ruined by EA and thier Stupidity... Yeah his not winning brownie points with me.
It be one thing if he did play up the tarnished childhood cause yes for everything you played and cherish to basically add up to "What's a Paladin"
yeah that's depressing, but Noah tends to likes to play Spoony as some kind martyr half the time
He said that entropy claims everything — not that he's alone in knowing how things fall apart.
I'm a skeptical squirrelI'm sensing potential crossover material with Linkara given the anti-magic gun.
I'm pretty sure the brother he's talking about in the video isn't Miles as I believe Miles is Spoony's younger brother. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Also Spoony's last line in this was great.
Yeah, his line reading there was... very motivated.
Maybe his acting career would take off if he went method.
I'm a skeptical squirrelAll I can say is... I've been there.
Not to the extremes Noah has, but, this review has the most depressing Reality Subtext for me because even though I've not fallen nearly as hard as he has, there's always the dread in the back of my brain that if my insomnia keeps feeding my depression as I can only imagine it has for Noah, the same might happen to me.
Couple this with my reaction to this being flavoured by my Dad being hospitalised for certain reasons and... this is reaching Welcome To The NHK levels of autobiographical details in fiction as far as Noah's videos go, even more than his Mazes And Monsters video. It's one thing for him to whine on Twitter, but Twitter is very toneless. Toneless in a way that video just isn't.
And if that eyebag stuff is exaggerated with makeup, it's a damn Breaking Dawn Part 1 job of it because I don't think a lot of people understood it was makeup like I did, it had me fooled. Oh God I hope that's makeup. Please be makeup. For the love of God please be makeup...
Hell Hasn't Earned My TearsCalm down guys, it's obviously makeup. Actual bags under the eyes don't smear down in stripes. It's obvious that the makeup was part of the act of him getting more and more depressed in the video.

Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.When he talked about his childhood playing Ultima, especially the fact that he basically learned to read from the games, it really reminded me of myself learning English through Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness. When my big brother first got that game, I was so young I didn't even consider the possibility of playing it myself. I just wanted to watch my brother play it, and when he taught me how to do it myself, I think my mind was blown to several pieces. It was the game that permanently shaped my ideas for fantasy in ways I can't let go of. And then, something like fifteen years later, World of Warcraft came along...
I've been there.

Had the same thing happened to me with Bionicle, man.
Thank god atleast the degradation was gradual, so it didn't surprise punch me in the gut when they release the real stinkers.

Same with me.
Also, I've never played any Ultima game, and all I know about Ultima comes from the Spoony retrospectives, but I actually got angry at the part with "Hey, I just came back to life for contrived reasons! The emotions you felt for my sacrifice are now completely pointless :D ".

Dat ending. That's a great pre-shooting-one-liner if I ever saw one.
Anyone else notice that the different options Spoony is given are coloured blue, red and green?
(I have consciously avoided adding a pothole to explain the reference.)
This is the weirdest way to deal with your emotional trauma.
THE weirdest way.
