Wait, is the last chapter really only going to be 17 pages? What the fuck?

I think Rurouni Kenshin had a great ending, as well as Rave Master.

The Blade:

  • Huh. I'd say that's a fun way of beating Yhwach. The future he saw that time was the one he should've changed. And there's quite a funny contrast; Ichigo had to get stronger to beat Aizen. Here, he got weaker and beat Yhwach. Focusing all his might on Bankai-stopping was his downfall. Still can't shake off my feelings of dejection, though.
  • Hm... I don't think Yhwach is completely dead. Because if he is, what's gonna keep the worlds from breaking apart? Next week should address that. At least. *Sigh*, darn it.

I'd post here more, but I have fuck all to add to any discussion. I like Bleach a lot, since it's one of the only 2 mangas I deem worth my time to read, but I'm not emotionally invested in what's going on anymore. I felt my emotional investment die when Mayuri beat Pernida. I still wanna see how the story ends, so it has that going for it, unlike Nardo which I actively hated for 260 chapters.

The thing with manga endings is, as long as a manga has success, the editors won't let it end, but once it stops being successful, the editors will try to have it cancelled as soon as possible. So it¡'s extremely difficult to find a middle point where your series can have an organic, satisfying finale.

[up] Boku No Hero Academia?

It's actually pretty good, even by Shonen standards, in my book.

Except Bleach is still one of the most profitable series still going Its one of the top 50 manga that still makes over a million sales a year

You see I keep seeing very "stupid" reasons.

Too many useless characters, WSJ wouldn't give a **** unless one was overly offensive and they got complaints

WSJ is not gonna cancel due to Narrative issues... lord knows Naruto's dragged out Villain hop scotch proved that.

Nice attitude there, pal.

I don't think anyone is saying the series is cancelled because it has too many characters, just that having too many characters impeded having good development for most/any of them before the endgame suddenly showed up.

This post

I read Dragonball Super's manga on and off.

Bleach really is the only one I read religiously.

Yes, Bleach is still fairly successful. Thing is, "fairly successful" sometimes simply doesn't cut it with editors expecting "mega-ultra successful." I've heard repeatedly that Kubo's editors in particular are frequently antagonistic toward him, and have several times steered him toward using more popular characters like Byakuya and Hitsugaya even if he didn't want to.

Hasn't it been said that he was forced to extend the Arrancar arc by quite a bit?

I mean, he seemed to have an arc planned for Orihime, and that was massively derailed because he was apparently pushed to do something else....or whatever.

I thank Boku no Hero Academia and Shokugeki no Soma for filling the voids that Naruto and Bleach have left.

But phew lad, this is gonna be one funny ass last chapter; 17 pages, seriously? Jesus.

wild mass guessThe last chapter is just a long Rick Astley performance while Kubo shows up in between panels saying there WAS an epic final battle, and Rangiki, Orihime, Nel, Rukia, and Chad were all supposed to come back, but being Cut Short, we'll never see it. Also someone kissed, but Kubo isn't telling.wild mass guess

Yeah, so basically the only way to have a good ending in WSJ is to be popular enough to avoid cancellation, but not quite enough that your editors will try to extend your series at all costs. That's pretty much Nisekoi's situation.

The moment you realize Bleach is the Fourth oldest series still running in WSJ... and its gonna play second fiddle to Nisekoi's finale

Granted you could argue that the fact that the series is ending alongside another series as yet more evidence that Bleach is ending prematurely since

FMA's ending was fine to me, and considered excellent by many.

Seishi Kishimoto's series, on the contrary, tend to have very rushed endings, even his longest and most popular one.

As I said, FMA seems to be more or less the "unattainable ideal" of shonen.

As I understand Bleach hadn't gotten a cover on Jump nor been high in the polls for it for awhile in Japan either. Nearly a year I believe.
