Ok it was mentioned there is not a thread for Law Enforcement Officers (LEO for short)and other similar jobs for discussion.
This is for discussing the actual jobs, ranks, training, culture, relations to military bodies that exist, and any other variety of topics that can arise pertaining to the World of Policing.
I am going to be that guy, same as before, it will depend of how brown they are.
Inter arma enim silent legesIn the spirit of the year 2016, Chinese security official elected Interpol chief.
Whether or not an act is a crime only matters at the moment it is committed. Without separate legislation, there's no reason for legalizing marijuana to have any effect on existing prisoners whatsoever.
Likewise, if something is later declared to be a crime, you can't be arrested for having done it beforehand.
That's interesting for Chinese law enforcement.
Considering California's overcrowded prison system they will probably have to let more out on this one at least.

Right. Hasn't Cali been in a conflict with the federal judiciary over this for a while now?

Si Vis Pacem, Para PerkeleWait? Nationalist boxing gang? Oh shit, the Boxer Rebellion Strikes Back!
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.I am feeling terrible for opening the link and hoping it wasn't a black guy who shot and killed those officers because I knew it would add fire to the mess the US is right now.
Inter arma enim silent legesWhat kind of name is Cwiklinski, in any case? Eastern European?
I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiotSounds Polish, but I could be mistaken.

Turkish Hell's Angels ...yikes!
You just don't mess with Turks. You especially don't mess with a gang of Turkish outlaw bikers. (I know these guys probably aren't bikers, strictly speaking, but the same principle applies nonetheless.)
This Space Intentionally Left Blank.Yeah, no. Our law enforcement just proved that they can and will mess with them.

The Polisen in Sweden got involved arresting neo-nazis in Stockholm during a rally. The organizers are the Nordic Resistance Movement, known in the Nordic region, for having a very, very open anti-Semetic policy.
Hey, cop movies are on topic, right?
The little blipverts had me rather hesitant, but this trailer has the hype-needle swinging back towards the "HYPE" end of the gauge.
I am kind of iffy on this movie still.
Who watches the watchmen?Yeah, I've got no real faith that Hollywood can get the tone right. Especially after all this casting stuff with Scarlet Johansson
Oh really when? It's got me more hopeful than before. Every scene in that trailer is either ripped from the movie or the first season of the anime, although with some scenes where the major should be invisible instead of sexy skin suit time.
However I do not expect it to focus on the high tech law enforcement and combatting Meme theory and copycat crimes that the anime series did though. It's likely to have S1 ep 1 to set up then into the movie plot.
The high tech law enforcement concepts in the series are outstanding though. Best Sci Fi investigation series ever made IMO.

I always felt the casting controversy was a mountain from a molehill. I can understand why a lot of folks got upset with an American being cast to play a Japanese woman, but in this particular instance, the ethnicity of the cast member doesn't actually matter from a storytelling perspective.
Although, on that note, it reminds me of an episode of GITS: Stand Alone Complex where they had an American CIA agent who was the most stereotypically Japanese character in the entire show, very polite, bowing all the time, etc. Probably a joke about foreigners trying too hard to make nice with the locals.
I think they should have cast Rinko Kikuchi rather than Scarlett Johansson and make the city they were in as vague as possible.
Inter arma enim silent legesThat debate is a mess, I would have preferred a setting transplant to maybe New York and then gone from there.
In Japan many polled were rather upset that there were still Japanese people in the movie. the tone was 'they let Hollywood make it then it should be Hollywood people in the movie, lit nom-Japanese people, if we wanted Japanese people they would have made it in Japan'.
Anyway shouldn't this be taken into the race thread?

The casting debate, sure. Ghost in the Shell in general though is a cop show, so otherwise mostly fits here.
I hope Togusa is a bamf. He's the character I most relate to, aside form the Mullet.
Togusa is played by Chin Han umm biggest role he played probably Lau in The Dark Knight.
It depends. Folks who had their sentences handed down well before the fact will likely still be in jail as they committed a crime when it was still a crime. Some could have their sentences shortened or commuted depending on the situation.
