That's really the only major retcon in the game. It didn't really bother me, it just struck me as a problem with changing dev teams - they either didn't understand or thought their vision worked better than Clover's.

Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.The thread's dying, so let's try something.
Find the Sequel Hooks in this game! Not only that, but other plot threads that don't get resolved. Because I really want the sequel to be announced soon.
I'll start:
- There's the ending with Kuni the narrator promising to tell more stories, and Issun flying off to the Celestial Plain with Chibi.
- Kuni's Back Story.
- Kuni defeating Master Anura despite the fact that only Nagi's bloodline should be able to do so.
- When Kuni first gets partnered with Chibi, he comments that Riding on Chibi's back feels familiar...
- Kaguya, and the Moon Tribe in general. She's mentioned in one of the computers in the Ryoshima Coast Ruins, but there's almost no information on her otherwise.
- On a related note, what happened to the Tao Troopers? According to Sei'an citizens, they just literally disappeared at the end of Okami.

Just popping in to say that baby Nuregami is the most adorable child god so far. Who's a cute little snakey~
Finally finished the game. I felt it was a good game (very good for a DS game) but relied too much on rehashing the original.
I didn't have any problems with the stylus skipping. I wonder if there's a problem with your DS? :/
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.Can't say I've had any problems with other games. Then again, I don't know of any other game that relies so specifically on stylus strokes in particular places on the screen.
I got this a few days ago, just started playing it. I'm impressed with the visuals they managed on the DS, though I'm hoping they didn't have to sacrifice gameplay for it. One thing is bothering the hell out of me and that is the gigantic, obnoxious quest compass. Is there a way to turn that off?
Finally got around to playing the sequel. Okami is my favorite game hands down, so I was excited for the second time around.
It was good. Like, I was thoroughly satisfied with the game. I felt it matched the originals appeal, and the story was great. For anyone who really likes the original I highly recommend you play this sequel.
However, you must consider this as a DS game. If you compare this directly with the scope of a PS 2 console game, you will be disappointed. If you accept the package that it is (which is, Okami with a narrower scope), than you will enjoy it.

Watch SymphogearI WANT THIS GAME SO BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD. ;_;
NO TREE FOR ME (ALSO LOVES HER BOYFRIEND)what
i want this game now
Agreed, the music is also on par with the original (albeit at DS quality).
Two Wong's don't make a white.Necroing this thread out of my love affair with Okami.
If the ever did make another sequel, what brush powers would you guys like to see in it? A lot of people were disappointed that there weren't too many new powers, but come to think of it, what else could they do?
Maybe... they could give you the ability to focus the sun's rays to burn things like a mean kid with a magnifying glass?
Necropost due to be utterly obsessed with the Okami series and Kurow. Seriously, Kurow is on of my top two favourite fictional characters ever (the other being Lightsong).
My least favourite partner was Nanami.
The demon market was awesome! What new areas does everyone else like?
"Oh great! Let's pile up all the useless cats and hope a tree falls on them!"
I think I'll get over it... As long as the game's not full of things like that...
I've been trying to find it, but I may have to order online to get it. The local Gamestop actually ran out of stock.
