I haven't seen American Sniper, but I imagine what Tats is saying about it is complete and utter BS?

[up]I haven't either, but there appear to be some legitimate gripes about the film's white-washing of its protagonist; the real life guy it was based on was evidently at best something of a jerk. And people should be protesting about Furgeson and similar events. Once again, Tat's heart is in the right place, it really is, he's just utterly screwing up the execution.

I'm currently playing through Battlefield 3's single player mode, and let it be known that even if the plot itself is shit and the quick time events are infuriating, it's still better than this.

I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiot

The most surprising part of this comic is that Violent Violet isn't beating the shit out of the cops.

"Propoganda"?

Ishida you moron. I saw the movie, it's ANTI-WAR film, if anything! And it's not remotely racist, for the record. If there was any racism in the film, I didn't spot it.

On a total side note, while it DOES scrub the more distasteful aspects from the story, I DO recommend seeing it. It's a pretty good film, go see it if you like movies in the vein of The Hurt Locker or Lone Survivor. The guy clearly was a complicated, troubled individual, and it's an interesting film.

TL;DR: Movie = [tup] This strip = [tdown]

He is SO BAD at this. It's either infuriating or completely hilarious. I don't know which yet.

Not to mention he jsut had to drag in Fergusson into it. Oh goodie.

Also note the promoting Lorde. Going to have opposite effect on me. Also note how initially everyone is white, but in the last scene everyone is suddenly either Sisterhood member or black.

Fuck this this, I'm going to play Assassins Creed 1. Maybe I will finish it someday.

just going to assume sisterhood girl hadnt even heard what the film was about, let alone seen it. she probably just hacked...that...neon board... wtf?

she probably just did that stupid thing because it had the word american in the title and thus must inherently be bad.

more importantly, what does it have to do with ferguson?

pretty sure nothing, thats what.

...i guess the sinfest world is a bizarro usa then?

[up][up][up][up]Dude, it's Clio. She managed to hack reality itself to be "less racist" (which makes me wonder why the hell a number of comics these past few weeks were things) just by finding an unguarded port. Hacking neon is downright sensible.

i will say this is the least offensive feguson strip he's done so far, if only because it actually involved the police and no attempts to be witty.

unless "racist war propaganda" was an attempt at being witty, in which case wow tats is bad at this.

[up] Agreed. I would have had no issue with this if the movie American Sniper had not been involved, it just seems out of place. Had it been just Clio protesting at Ferguson peacefully I would have said nothing.

... Am I the only one who noticed that Tats is quite off in his timing with respect to the Ferguson protests (like, by several months)?

#10365: Feb 1st 2015 at 7:15:36 AM

its the first time i really noticed it, mainly cuz the previous ones were just generally about police brutality, which new cases of seem to pop up all the time as of late. also i vaguely recall last month an article about a bunch of white people at some protests trying to preach to a black police officer about how badly he must be oppressed because he's black and his race is all that matters. it was tagged with ferguson so i actually didnt realise the ferguson protests were months over...

#10366: Feb 1st 2015 at 7:21:11 AM

There is a reason I don't talk about white on black racism. It's because I have no experience in it and thus could never preach anything without coming off as a condescending Know-Nothing Know-It-All and that's perfectly fine by me.

Is Ferguson over? Don't exactly know but I know police brutality and issues of racism in the US aren't and that is as much as I can say. I wasn't there, I didn't experience it, therefore I can't exactly preach.

I'd say the same thing about Tatsuyda but he's so introverted and unknown so I don't know his experiences.

i think if you've researched the subject in question, you have a right to talk about it (maybe not preach) even if you havent actually experienced it. especially since communication allows for information to be received. dont understand a subject well? try talking about it, and the people who respond will inevitably try to educate you in one way or another. its just a matter of being willing to wade through the bullshit to the more reliable information.

Don't know anything about American Sniper, but for based on real story movie, didn't it make up a Complete Monster character as movie's villain?

Yeah, a lot of Tats' writing don't make much sense all things considered.

I'll stick around to see where and how this trainwreck will end, but my Webcomic time is probably better spent reading Atomic Robo. (Anyone hanging out here familiar with that title?)

[up] Nice to hear that, bro! grin

Don't know if you know, but they just turned it into a webcomic! Which is great because I never had the dough to score the issues on Comixology. (I did manage to score the FCBD stories though, but that's mainly because they were, you know, free. tongue)

One of the reasons I still stick around Sinfest, apaprt from habit and Bile Fascination, is that it's only webcomic that I follow that updates daily. Other update 1-3 times a week. All in the same day.
