as with dragon age origins, my first nasty encounter with the spiders in SS was where i walked under one dangling over me without realising it.

those moments where spiders seem to "jump at you" through the screen tend to creep me out. i remember the spider queen/bandit from okami who didnt actually scare me but then this one time one of its attacks managed to make me let out a small scream and drop the wii mote.

because the dangling ones in SS before you got the beetle were so hard to kill (cuz ya need to thrust) the pendulum effect tended to also elicit fear.

btw in a strictly non-arachnephobia related feeling of being creeped out, some of the fuzzy legged spiders in TP creeped me out cuz of the way they moved. the SS spiders seem based off them.

I've never really been creeped out by the spiders in Zelda. In fact, the only times I've really felt uneasy when playing a Zelda game are the Dead Hand fights in OOT and the end of the deity-induced drug trip in TP.

To this day, I STILL can't figure out what the hell was up with that drug induced nightmare in TP.

[down]What the fuck? Why was there a tarantula hanging above your desk in fourth grade?

Zelda spiders don't scare me. Video game spiders in general don't scare me. Heck, even the whopping monster CGI spider from the Lo TR movie didn't scare me.

It's the real ones that terrify me. Especially the tarantula sized one that was hanging out above my desk in fourth grade.

Skulltulas never scared me. Only irritated me when they spun around if you got too close or disappeared in Hyrule Warriors right when I was about to kill them. What kind of stupid gimmick is that.

What used to scare me was Redeads and Wall Masters, particularly the invisible ones.

Dead Hand was just kind of freaky.

I used to have an arachnophobic friend who refused to play LOZ after seeing some of the Skulltula designs. I think Armogohma was the biggest deal-breaker.

Nothing in the series used to scare me as a kid, but now the WW Redeads freak me out. Not even the scream, but the creepy way they can just stare at you...

TP has some really creepy boss designs in general.

Ceiling Skulltulas in OOT scared me, but I don't think any other Skulltulas did.

My favorite thing to do with Wind Waker Redeads is throw a boomerang at them while out of their range. They just turn their head to look at you like "What the hell was that for, man?" before going back to their regular position.

I thought the were-Skulltulas in the Skulltula House in Ocarina of Time were probably the creepiest. You expect to be in this peaceful place and then these humans-turned-Skulltulas come out of nowhere not even to damage you, but just to scare you.

Call me Willy Whistle 'cause I can't speak, baby. Something in TV Tropes really drove me crazy.

Nah. They usually always face you, but if you hit em with your sword they swing back and forth, then you can get around them to slice their backs. They scream, turn blue, then spin around to knock you away from them.

TP Skulltulas are the worst. Worse than Armogohma.

I think it's because they're people size. For some reason human sized spiders creep me out more than house sized spiders.

So a Gossip Stone tells me "The Fierce Deity Mask, a mask that contains the merits of all masks seems to be... somewhere in this world…" That should mean the following in regards to the sort of "god" he was both in power and affiliation before being reduced to a mask.

Super Speed (Bunny Hood),

Super Sense of Smell (Mask of Scents)

Can speak to Gossip Stones and hear the thoughts of animals (Mask of Truth)

Explosion Generation (Bomb Mask)

Invisibility (Stone Mask)

Can speak to the dead (Gibdo Mask, Captain Keeta)

Can stay awake for long periods of time without rest (All Night Mask)

Can become a giant (Giant Mask)

Can sense when Fairies are near and draw them too him (Great Fairy Mask)

Can summon ghost foxes (Keaton Mask)

God of marriage (Couples Mask), messengers (Postman’s Hat), dance (Kamaro’s Mask), and music playing a tune that can cause people/animals to march behind him (Bremen Mask)

Despite being a “dark god” he is affiliated with cows (Romani’s Mask) and frogs (Don Gero’s Mask). Cow Milk is often given to him as offerings and frogs sing their praise to him. (When asked FD never explains the stories behind them.)

The Garo Ninja worship him (Garo Mask).

He has mingled among mortals and left descendants such as Kafei and the Gorman (Kafei Mask, Troupe Leader Mask).

Perhaps the mask was split into a bunch of different masks (or potential masks), and you giving your masks to the moon kids allows them to reconstruct it.

Somewhere, Aomura has stated that it's also best thought of as all the gratitude in Termina towards Link's actions.

It spawned a nice piece of fanart.

What is the closest cut-off / closest call you've come to in playing the Song of Time just before the world's end?

Today, I was fighting the Woodfall Temple in Majora's Mask 3D and had taken much too long. I decided to go in and fight Odowalla anyway and just let the clock run out so Link could meet a terrible fate while fighting - just for the heck of it.

I realized that if I went back in time and saved, I'd get to keep the bow I'd fought for and I did not want to have to fight for it again on my file.

I debated with myself between a spectacular death and keeping a dungeon item until 4 SECONDS were left on the clock when I hit the ocarina and did the Song of Time.

4 SECONDS.

It makes me want to see if I can get it down to 1 second deliberately. I thought that maybe the world's end and my Song of Time would happen at the same time and I'd get something interesting. (Like how in Hyrule Warriors I seem to have an accidental habit of drinking a potion just as someone lands a death blow on my character and the character collapses only to get back up but it's still a defeat).

In which I attempt to be a writer.

I once made it to less than a hour left, going around to pick up a few heart pieces and such before I had to reset. The music and the sun rising on a day that would never come really got to me.

[up][up] If you look at through the telescope at the observatory and exit when the clock has 2 seconds left, it'll skip the moon falling cutscene, and you can actually play the 4th, 5th 6th, etc days without worry of the world ending. It has some strange effects, such as the moon being extremely high up, many NP Cs being absent, and certain text softlocking the game. I don't know if it works in MM 3 D, but it works in the original. Take a look:

A long after-the-fact realization...

The Song of Inverted Time slows down time around you, but that means that it speeds you up. Which means everybody else would be seeing a little kid wooshing around Termina like a little green blur, and even faster with the Bunny Hood.

That's kind of funny...also, when you're at Romani Ranch and you're fighting "Them", They're trying to rush toward the barn while Link is killing them left and right, unable to outrun him.

Play this at half-speed for the appropriate effect—it sounds pretty cool. Almost like a boss battle with Ganon.
