Because Kinkajou told me to.

So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?

My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.

I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

@Blizzard: Funny enough SE are in charge of Overwatch and most other Blizzard games in Japan. There was a Sony Japan vs Square Enix Japan Overwatch tournament at TGS and SE won.

I've never understood the point of endgame raiding. Get a team together capable of taking on the hardest content, to get the best gear... and then use it on what?

I also fail to see how Wo W raiding could possibly be better, since engine itself would be based on a very old game. I gave it a pass in City of Heroes because that's not where the game's strengths were, but every time I try Wo W it just bores me to death.

The point of endgame raiding is the challenge, and accomplishing it. The gear it rewards is mostly a bragging rights reward because people like getting gear and feeling more effective. It also makes the group progressively better at clearing the raid, so you can top your previous achievements.

Fair enough, but I still don't think that Wo W could have anything over the ridiculous co-ordination that Midas Savage needed.

So Grymoire is basically the complete opposite of the Dissidia verse

There the heroes are pretty much trapped in an endless war where regardless which side wins it starts all over again.

Cosmos is only good for a taking you with me

and everybody has a pretty crappy day even the villains

Grymoire outside of the Anti-champions and the BF's invasion really just seems to let the champoins partake in HIGH adventure, hijinx and well just hangout

though all are subject to Enna's on the spot dance numbers!

At least it a casual reveal. For a Final Fantasy game, anyway.

Usually thats a half way point or near the end reveal.

Lann and his made up curse words... He'd be about as foul mouth as Cid highwind if he's choices weren't Honk "WHAT IN THE HOLY MOTHER OF ALL HONKS!" and Shmup... which I'm pretty sure is slang for a japanese shoot em up.

Wait... THE CREATE Wo L IN THIS VERSE

Did Sherlotta just admit she spread for her cat transformation spell?...I mean i might be dirty minded by nature but how else am i suppose to take her response and the Twins' reaction

World's tone is baffling... its both sincere and irreverent, Its got alot of for younger audience appeal but tons of meta jokes and references that only long time fans will get or appreciate

I like that Reynn's so use to Lann's stupidity that she doesn't even bother to correct him when he uses the wrong word.

So, I got to the end of Final Fantasy 13-2. It took five or so separate attempts to take out the final boss, but it was a pretty fun ride.

I heard that the ending was controversial, and I see why. That was a pretty cheap ending - the "To be continued..." is fine, because I know about the next game, but it was pretty cheap to fake out that happy ending. It felt a bit like the first XIII game, everything was good and they all live happily ever after, but then Serah dies out of nowhere - which isn't completely uncalled for given her position as a seeress - it turns out that Etro was killed when Caius got stabbed - again, a story element that was explained earlier, so I understand why this is - and Noel has a breakdown about killing the goddess and causing all the bad stuff, and then Valhalla spills into the real world and undoes time.

What bugs me is that my Noel showed mercy to Caius, and Caius stabbed himself. He blames himself and is basically grief-stricken for that last cutscene, but his hand was literally forced into Caius' chest. Noel did nothing wrong. And while I think the dark ending was set up beforehand and I don't have an issue with everything going to s***, they started with a bright, happy ending and then ripped it away. That's a cheap way of portraying drama, and even if the game's story wasn't Shakespeare before, that was a dick move that worsened an otherwise decent enough game.

Overall, Final Fantasy XIII-2 was a fun game. I'm going to get all the fragments because I hear that there's an extra scene for 100% completion, but I'm basically finished with it as a main game.

Come sail your ships around me, and burn your bridges down.
