Because Kinkajou told me to.

So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?

My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.

I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

Say, quick question for Dissidia and Duodecim players: do you ever change costumes for any of the characters?

Myself, I almost always have Cloud and Tifa in their AC outfits, Laguna I put in his Galbadian Army uniform, and IIRC that's pretty much it.

Warrior either Helmetless or original Red
Garland in the Cloudsea Djinn costume
Emperor whatever (If I ever get the Emperor of Raquia costume, I'll use that all the time)
Onion Knight as Ingus
Cloud of Darkness as Cloud of Light
Cecil in DS Outfit
Garland as Man in Black
Kain base costume
Bartz as Freelancer
Vaan with a shirt on

I have a message from another time...

The only characters whose outfits I change are Terra to her FF 6 outfit, Tidus to his FFX outfit, Sephiroth to his FF 7 outfit and sometimes Cecil's to his DS designs. That's usually it since I like the majority of the designs, though the homage to Yoshitaka Amano's designs with the heaps of beads and stuff gets a bit ridiculous sometimes. The worst case is Sephiroth in my eyes, since the bead bracelets and stuff just don't suit him.

They suit Kefka and Emperor Bowie, but not Sephiroth.

Oh ya, Tidus to FFX. Forgot about that one.

Also, I said I normally have Tifa in her AC costume, but lately I've been putting her in the cowgirl outfit from Nibelheim.

Aside from trying some model imports; I usually prefer to use helmetless Wo L, light Co D, After Years Golbez, green-haired Terra, original Sephiroth, Amano Tifa, Amano or KH Squall, hooded Zidane, shirtless Tidus, shirted Vaan and Amano Raitoningu.

Light Co D, default OK, Hooded Man Kain, Freelancer Bartz, Narshean Princess Terra (no matter how much I prefer green-haired Terra, I'm absolutely in love with this alt), Laguna in whatever I want at the moment (the only character all alts of whom I like), default Kuja, Bride Yuna and TA 2!Vaan. Those are guys I usually use, among others maybe half are using alts.

I only ever set Terra and Tidus to their Alt 1 costumes, because Tidus's weird collar angers and confuses me and Terra has green hair, dammit Square.

Up to 291 missions done in FFTA 2, hopefully can finish the last of them tomorrow. Inevitably I'll need to hunt down one or two to complete the 300, but hopefully not many. Four or five I can see at least, and I've done all the tournaments as well as Odd Places all four times, and the Rivalry of the Rupies.

I never did all the missions in TA 2. I was unable to find all of them without a guide, but my pride got better of me and I never looked them up. I spent a couple of in-game years trying to find them, too.

Sorry but I have to say something. I'm playing through FFVIII again and I wanted to comment on something.

You know the problem with Balamb Garden? It's SUPPOSED to be a mercenary-raising institution. Yet in actuality the tone and atmosphere of it is really more like an anime high school. The character sheets for Squall and the others lists them as Child Soldiers but we're not talking Raiden from MGS 2 here. Selphie and the rest just come off as angsty, stupid teenagers.

I'm watching the Garden battle, the one part most people love about FFVIII, and I see the "Junior Classmen" getting hurt and needing to be protected. Well you know what? It's not the Galbadian's fault. You don't bring in minors to your mercenary base. Moreover, teh whole "Garden is neutral" thing is bullshit. See Ds are quite famous and if you keep dispatching them all over the world in military disputes then obviously someone someday is going to retaliate. And who do you have to blame when the 5-year-olds get mowed down in a hail of gunfire? Yurself. Garden is not a country with civilians or non-combatants, it is a place precisely for combatants only. There is no quarter and there shouldn't be.

Really, Cid is no better than NORG. At least NORG was honest. FFVIII just really reeks of Fridge Horror because I doubt Nojima or anyone else ever considered the implications of Garden at all.

We may have to tell Spoony about this. Then again, if he found another thing really bad about FF 8's plot, he might just collapse into a singularity.

I think part of my problem is that all of Amano's women look exactly the same, so Terra's hair being green while retaining the Amano costume seems like a good compromise to me.

But, see, Terra's only ever been a blonde in Dissidia and Theatrhythm, which use Nomura's, Amano-derived designs.

To be fair by that logic Terra's only been green haired in Final Fantasy VI while every other appearance has been blond.

I'm a fan of Amano's actual art; but agree that 90% of his humans are interchangeable. Which is why the more individuated interpretations in Dissidia worked fairly well.

Golbez looked awesome.

Garland (FFIX) looked awesome.

Kuja looked....well, the only reason people make fun of his design is because he's hotter than any of the actual women in the series.

And I thought Garnet was very nice as well. Oh and Beatrix.

Ya know, FFIX as a whole was just really good-looking. It also sounded great. Now if it was only fun to play.....
