Amaterasu's officially released patches for both Muv-Luv and Muv-Luv Alternative. The MLA patch has all translated CG texts, as well as some corrections (most notably "Lazaford" —> "Rutherford"). The ML patch has some minor edits.

I just saw that and was about to post it.

Okay, I am enjoying Extra way more than I should. The blatant Cliché Storm is hilarious and the special effects are nice. I've only played about 30 minutes, but I am enjoying how So Bad, It's Good Muv Luv Extra is. I'm just going to appreciate for being a wacky comedy VN for now and be grateful at how easily amused I am.

Aw, it's so hilariously terrible though. It's like they had a terrible story and then decided to hell with it and tried to pretend they were aiming for So Bad, It's Good all along. It is one of the worst things I have ever read.

I did play it through once since I liked the comedic moments and laughed at some of the over-dramatic moments. I just skipped the previously read text, so I could get on to Unlimited.

I liked Extra. I can sense there's no point in going over its faults and merits, but I thought I should add some balance to the discussion.

Unlimited was good. It helps that I am a sap for Worldbuilding.

Opened up Alternative and shell shocked by the sheer awesomeness of the op. I can tell that this will probably be my favorite VN.

After a few hours of sleep and hours of continuous playing, I'm in the PTSD arc.

Managed to finish Alternative in 2 days. At least I think it was 2 days. I lost my sense of time.

So Cool Its Awesome. Like anything other piece of fiction it has its flaws and is not for everyone, but the strengths outweigh them. It helps that I did enjoy Extra and happened to be a Military Brat (who doesn't want to be in the military, but can understand the people who do). Of course, my Mecha fanboyism also happens to play a role.

9/10. I have given other V Ns that same score, but this has become my favorite VN.

I can see why people dislike Extra but I surprisingly didn't mind too much it just had a lot of generic humor. Some of it was funny though.

But yeah it really is hard to believe that Alternative is that much better than the first two, but it helps that it's longer than the two, the most serious, has some really cool plot twists, the most action and good character development.

Alternative's one of the few visual novels where I like to reflect on it and remember all the cool stuff that happened, especially with the coinciding music.

Currently reading Extra. What the fuck am I reading.

Try to convince yourself of that, and you should be fine.

Okay seriously, my brain cells are dying just reading through this. How long do I have to suffer through this? I seriously hope Alternative is worth reading for this crap.

One part that you really need to abuse the control button for is the Lacrosse part of Extra. Seriously. As soon as the characters volunteer join the team, abuse the poor button until the match is won.

In Extra, the only scenes that differ between the Meiya and Sumika routes that are actually important are the date after the birthday party and the ending. Feel free to skip the other scenes that differ when you are forced to replay extra.

Oh, and Alternative is worth it. That's just my opinion, but whatever.

Liberated: I actually read all of Extra. It was so appallingly terrible that it made for amazing snarkbait, which somehow made it a little entertaining.

I... actually liked the lacrosse stuff. I only read the Meiya/Sumika routes so I dunno how much the events differ from the others but I didn't mind them.

Anyway if Extra's really bugging you, you can skim parts you really don't like (which may be a lot of it lol)

The Lacrosse arc... was just too long...

Other than that arc, I thought extra was okay.

If anything Extra itself went too long lulz. I just thought that Lacrosse wasn't really that much better or worse than all the generic comedy we were getting...

Finally reached Unlimited. Now we're talking. This development has caught my interest. The conspicuous lack of Sumika in the title screen has caught my attention, probably because of that damned spammer who kept posting Muv-Luv spoilers.

Hahaha, it's not like Age is sadistic enough to actually tentacle rape the child hood friend in a creepy and fetishistic way.

Oh wait... Age is sadistic. Never mind.

They were typical 4chan /vn/ thread troll spoilers, so no.

The twists aren't that important to the Muv Luv anyways.

Stopped at the start of the 9th episode on Unlimited. While it's not really that amazing, it's definitely better than suffering through Extra at least. And it has a few moments where I laughed instead of just being vaguely amused at how generic the humor is.

I'm betting that Kasumi being an anagram of Sumika isn't just a coincidence. And thanks to that/those very kind Muv-Luv spammer(s) on /vn/, I know that Sumika is the brain... or something. Still don't know how that happened though, so that should be interesting.
