So why did Vaggie take off her exorcist helmet in the flashback of how she ended up in Hell? What purpose did it have in-universe?

I admit I'm surprised they didn't just have Lute take it off while exiling her. The procedure would have required it anyway.

It ends up "Loser, Baby" is not the song to use to get a sixty five year old aunt who love seventy year old musicals into the show. "More than Anything" was a bit better received, but the damage was already done.

[up][up] If I had to chose song to introduce show to somebody, I would go with “Whatever It Takes” “It Starts With Sorry” or “Finale”, though last one is a bit too spoilery in case it pulls them in.

[up] "Finale" is so overwhelmingly sad, whimsical, dark, and triumphant all in one song.

My choice for introductory song would definitely be More Than Anything. A good runner-up would honestly be Respectless if they're okay with the word 'bitch'.

It's a little spoilery (though not really) but Hell's Greatest Dad is what I used to get my mum into the show. It's fun, funny, colourful, catchy, there's no swears (not that my mum has a problem with that but I just wanted to show that there's more to the show).

[down]That's simultaneously a terrible and amazing idea. I think it would come down to execution: a huge risk of it backfiring but also a great payoff if it's done well. Maybe he marries Charlie to find a loophole in his deal with whoever controls him. Assuming the deal is to protect Charlie and/or the hotel, he could still claim he's doing it (and arguably would be), just as her consort and ruler of Hell. He'd have to get the old man of the way first (perhaps that's the source of his initial animosity towards Lucifer, he knows that Lucifer is the one thing standing in his way from ruling Hell). This would all make Hell's Greates Dad very squicky though: I'm aware Alastor is lying in that song, but it' still dodgy to pretend to be a father figure to your future wife.

Maybe, since he talks a lot about Charlie's "potential", the deal would be more that (after Alastor, somehow, deals with Lucifer) would be for her to let Alastor 'guide her', like an evil advisor.

So I just found this page for a fanfiction where the favor that Alastor redeems is that he forces Charlie into a political marriage with him so that he can become prince consort of Hell (or something) and it spirals out of control from there. Part of me is like "That's brilliant and totally in-character for Alastor, harkening back to old-timey melodrama villains who force women to marry them and it would be neat if that was his ultimate plan, Beetlejuice or Count Olaf-style", and another part of me is like "this is the worst idea I've ever heard in my entire life, if this happens in the show I'm going to completely lose it".

I feel like the three people who would be most vocally against this would be Vaggie, Lucifer, and Niffty, in that order.

I must unfortunately admit, "Vaggie and the rest of the Hotel gang have to race to stop Alastor from marrying Charlie" would make for a kick-ass Season Finale (or even Series Finale) complete with all the requisite tropes (Skip to the End, Speak Now or Forever Hold Your Peace, Wedding Deadline, etc).

I know that the Hellaverse already has a "crash a wedding" plot, but the stakes there were (comparatively) low and that sequence was mostly an excuse for Millie to get medieval on some sharks.

[up] That WAS a pretty good sequence, though, to be fair.

A shark goon being killed so hard that he turns into sushi is one of my favorite HB visual gags so far - It’s so dumb, but it makes me laugh every time I see it.

Uh, anyway, OT: If Al and Charlie were to be involved with a political marriage ceremony that the rest had to stop, what movie would that be parodying/be a Shout-Out to? Blitzo and Millie have already done a Shrek, so I’d rather see something different.

Or you could go the Shrek 2 route and have a gigantic demon attack the wedding that is guided by the Hotel guests.

...Or, well, Heaven could also just ruin the whole thing outright.
