The WebOriginal/ namespace
(currently at arond 400 pages) has frequently been misused as a catch-all for any internet works, even when the work in question should probably go on other categories, such as Blog/, Fanfic/, Literature/ (in the case of Web Serial Novels), Roleplay/, WebAnimation/, Webcomic/, Website/ or WebVideo/.
Therefore, this project is dedicated to sorting or moving these works to their correct namespaces. Due to the obscurity of a large part of these works, a lot of these pages tend to also be low-quality (zero-context examples, poor grammar, red links, no crosswicking or indexing, Auto-Erotic Troping...) so general cleanup for these pages can also be discussed here.
(Note that the namespace isn't completely redundant, as a lot of works such as Creepypasta or Original Character Tournaments don't really fit any of the above namespaces.)

I hope this isn't offtopic, but an edit I came across recently claimed if a Web Serial Novel is not officially published (like the subject of that edit), it is Web Original, not Literature. Can you confirm whether that is true or not?
I'm not sure what "not officially published" means in this context.

Web Serial Novel literally says on that page that they're literature, not web original. And why wouldn't they be? Literature isn't defined by the mash of dead-tree pulp, it's defined by words.
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.

New work on this namespace: Mr Widemouth.
However, unlike other creepypastas that are strongly tied to an image (Jeff The Killer, Smile Dog), I don't see anything stopping from Mr. Widemouth to be moved to Literature/.
Any oppositions to me messaging the page's creator to let them know?

We classify based on the primary medium of the work (I say "primary" only because there are obviously examples where more mediums are incorporated and some namespaces are a bit wonky), not what the creator claims their work is. Though if it's true that the work is mostly told through online literature and not the blog, it might be fine to move it to Literature/ either way.
