There are too many tropes that fall into scrappy mechanics. Anything can be a bad idea depending on how you perceive it. That is why I don’t see this thread going far; it’s still a sounding board for complaints.

Aw, that sort of wrestling game could be fun, actually. It wouldn't be a traditional wrestling game, but I can see it being fun to try and follow an increasingly complicated script, or to maybe break the path by improvising and see what happens.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessThe point is to make it bad in a creative way.
An RPG where mage and cleric are legit classes, but they are much less useful than other classes, because magic and gods don't exist.
Solitaire, but the basic deck only includes Hearts and Spades. Diamonds, Clubs, and a rotating selection of additional suits with unique mechanics are only available in booster packs.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableIf EA made solitaire.
A shooter game where there are no enemies and the objective is to shoot yourself, but there's only first person mode.

Macron's notesNSFW one: A pornographic game which is actually a meta horror and a deconstruction of sexual violence in porn/hentai games.
A dating sim where you date sentient furniture.
You keep using the term "POV". I do not think it means what you think it means.A mobile game called Party Leader: Manual RPG. The main mechanic is that you must control your party during combat and give them orders. There is no auto battle or idle AFK play. Yes, no mobile users will play such game.
That actually seems intresting.
Also
"Chariem Anime: The Game" dosen't sound like a terrible idea tbf.

...I-it's been a while, hasn't it?A "roguelike" game which is not a roguelike at all, even is a slightest way, it's an online shooter or a racing game like Need for Speed. But whenever someone says that your game is not a roguelike, you should say "you are gatekeeping, you are being a Berlin interpretation elitist, the word meaning is how people use it, prescriptivism is bad". ...Sorry, my butt hurts.
A puzzle-adventure with the difficulty turned up to "fold this protein / balance this ecosystem / complete this Fourier transformation", on a time limit
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableThis literally exists, just without adventure part, time limit and only with proteins. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foldit
It was an inspiration for the comment, yes. 1/5 points of resemblance is a broader definition of "literally exists" than I'm comfortable with.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableMany people love manic shmups, so I decided to write a proposal for a game that will satisfy even the most hardcore players.
The game supports up to 12800 bullets on screen, but this is compensated by player's hitbox size, which is 1 subpixel.
There are 4 stages, because shmups with 5 stages are yesterday, shmups with 6 stages are day before yesterday and shmups with 8 stages are past millenium, who's even gonna play this? When you beat TLB without deaths, bombs, hypers etc., you unlock TTLB, and then TTTLB awaits for you.
Score multiplier cap is 300 million, and you can score nonillions of points. When you die, score multiplier gets halved, but when you bomb, score multiplier becomes negative, and you lose points until you regain it. As compensation, your score multiplier multiplier temporarily increases, so it is easier to rebuild multiplier.note
Mechanics:
Grazing while focused charges a gauge which summons special enemies; when you pointblank and speedkill them, they drop items which increase rank, rank increases number of bullets, which means not just more scoring, but also more slowdown (and this game is impossible without slowdown).
Grazing while unfocused charges a special hyperbomb, which doesn't decrease score multiplier. When you use it, it temporarily raises rank so enemies will shoot more bullets, and bullets canceled by hyperbomb charge your speedhyper. During speedhyper, your weapon instantly kills any enemy, and any killed enemy cancels all bullets on screen and turns them into scoring items, but killing any enemy also creates a huge cloud of revenge bullets, so you must chain enemies not for scoring but to not be killed by these bullets.
(Later addition:) Also, there are LASER WHEELS that fire CURVY LASERS.
______
I previously posted it at one shmup Discord server. One guy said he would like to play it, and another one said that "killing enemies erases bullets but killing enemies spawns bullets" is a mechanic that sounds interesting, though he doesn't know how well it would play. Looks like every time I invent a worst game, someone wants to play it.
An arcade twin-stick shooter in which you play a guy who can only limply throw rocks at his enemies.
We also love Shinobu Yagawa's masterpiece Battle Garegga, which increases your rank for just anything. The only thing it lacks is raizing your rank for simply existing, but then you realize that Garegga's spiritual predecessor,Gun Frontier, actually did it. So why not make a shmup which raises your rank for breathing? And you need to hold breath for rank control. Also it increases rank with each heartbeat, so you need to keep your pulse low. (Wait, I've seen something like that before...) And the best part: the game uses eyes tracking sensor and increases your rank for looking at screen.
An open world game where you play as a snail. So getting anywhere takes forever.
A rhythm RTS game where you click mouse to the rhythm of march-like RTS music.
I'll add a song by Frank Klepacki to a post, because.
Mega bump!
A Cinematic Platform Game where you play as a mentally illwashed-up Master Actor with DID, and all of his alters are characters he's played in the past.
Currently Reading: N/AA Darker and Edgier Teen-rated Pokémon real-time Action RPG (similar in style both gameplay-wise and art-wise to recent Final Fantasy games) where you actually have to fight alongside your Pokémon, a main antagonist that looks like they would belong more in My Hero Academia than Pokémon, and with lots of explosions that would make Michael Bay blush. Overall this doesn't even look like a Pokémon game anymore, and the unrecognizability of this game turns people off completely.

"Paldea has a lot of different Pokemon from those in Kitakami." - Carmine
Here we post horrible ideas for games that nobody would play.
For example: A pro wrestling game where fights are like in actual pro wrestling - you have a script for the fight and must follow it.
P. S. Please, do not use this thread for poking fun into existing games.
