Googling it up I can take a guess (literally never heard it). May as well remove it in that case.

Huh, I didn't see anything unfortunate when I googled it, but Fanny is also a term for the buttocks, so it might not be that great anyway.

That's exactly how I interpreted the term "fanny."

In Canada, "fanny" can either mean the "buttocks" or "female genitalia" depending on context.

Okay, well, I can see how it'd be an unfortunate name, but it doesn't seem to have any "unfortunate implications" in the way we describe. Still, not the best choice either way.

I honestly thought the actual unfortunate implication you meant wasn't that it sounded like slang for butt or pussy, but that it rhymed with a transphobic slur.

Yeah, and 'transphobic-slur voice' is something I've heard used as an insult towards trans people whose voices don't pass.

Yeah, I think there's about a dozen reasons not to pick that name, but it is losing rather dramatically, so I think we're safe from it.

I think we should sandbox it. The description just needs some tweaking to make it clear that the trope is a comedy gag trope and the examples need cleaning, but that should be easy to do.

We can also excise that pointless yammering about box wire fans or whatnot that makes up almost the entire trope description while we're at it.

It feels worth noting if the gag always uses specific kinds of fans.

I trimmed out the Japan-specific cruft and added a new paragraph. The result is at Sandbox.Funny Fan Voice.

Is anything else needed? The description already says that rotary fans are the type that are usually used, so I don't think we need to go into further detail about what kinds of fans are used.

Yeah that seems a lot better.

Wick cleanup is done, and since I had to remove examples that didn't have sufficient context (due to the refined definition), I added this to Pages Needing Wicks and Tropes Needing Examples due to the low amount of wicks. Feel free to take this to the Trope Launch Pad if that's not enough.
