Unless this has actually been causing problems, there's no need to make this NRLEP.
Also, yeah again that if there are no problems being caused there is no reason to make the trope NRLEP.
Yeah, Morality Tropes often do get the NRLEP treatment but they don't always.

CM Sandboxes, MB SandboxesI mean, sure. I'm not completely opposed to leaving the examples around aside from my own personal gut feeling about them, but I do find some of the arguments for removing them stronger than the ones for keeping them. All things being equal, keeping them wouldn't hurt, but neither would cutting them.
And, uh...is there any other Morality Trope that isn't NRLEP that you can point to? Hopefully one that doesn't have massive issues?

Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessWell, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Enemy Mine is a Morality Trope about two enemies teaming up to fight a greater enemy and yet has a massive Real Life subpage.
Getting rid of Real Life examples will only hurt the trope due to how heavily tied to real life it is and how famous the real-life examples of this trope are. Getting rid of them would just be weird.
CM Sandboxes, MB SandboxesThat's not a morality trope. Morality tropes are ones that claim characters are good and evil.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI think we're kind of going off on a tangent here. To get back on topic, how would we define the scope of "The Dictatorship"?
Nevermind than but I do have two other examples Big Damn Heroes which has Heroes in the name and A God Am I.
CM Sandboxes, MB SandboxesThose are also not morality tropes. Read the descriptions, not the titles, Ordeaux. One is proclaiming godhood, the other is rescuing someone at the last minute, neither are about heroes or villains specifically.
This is a tangent, but it is important. Morality Tropes across the board are NRLEP. There's precedent here, and that precedent states that Morality Tropes do not get to have real-life examples.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessAlright yeah I should have been more careful looking at those but I think this time I found a Morality Trope that isn't NRLEP, A Pupil of Mine Until He Turned to Evil.
CM Sandboxes, MB SandboxesAnd it has no RL examples, which would be why; the thread doesn't do those decisions pre-emptively.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessIt's not officially NRLEP, but it doesn't have a real life section, which probably why no one ever bothered making it NRLEP.
Beat me to it.

I have searched a bunch of tropes and I haven't been able to find one that both has Real Life Examples listed and is a Morality Trope I guess you are right my bad. Still I think this trope is just too heavily tied to Real Life for us to make it NRLEP without confusing viewers.
CM Sandboxes, MB SandboxesUltimately it's not a big deal. The real life examples can stay or go, it's really not a big loss. But if we do cut them, we should note that yes, this is Truth in Television.

"I like girls, but now, it's about justice."The Modern Politics section of EnemyMine.Real Life is mostly real life examples of The Horseshoe Effect (the latter page is NRLEP and thus ended up in the former page).

Kirby is awesome.I wasn't aware.
CM Sandboxes, MB SandboxesI have created the Enemy Mine cleanup page by the way: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=16153470770A75254500&page=1
Kirby is awesome.Well, I think that the issue of the Real Life examples is more a sidetrack than actually addressing the issues of this trope. We certainly need to mention the People's Republic and Democratic People's Republic examples because they are the Trope Codifier.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWell, as for “The Dictatorship” super-trope, isn’t Police State basically that?
One of these days, all of you will accept me as your supreme overlord. Not really, that's one where the law enforcement has full tyrannical control and abuses the populace. It's another subtrope.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessCrowner option discussion time?
- Rename
- Create a trope about fictional dictatorships and move misuse there
- Make IUEO
- Make NRLEP
No objections to those options.
Technically all of those options are compatible.
Anyway made the crowner myself.

Crown Description:
What would be the best way to fix the page?
Yeah, we can just say "this is inspired by several real countries" in the description, and leave it at that. This is primarily about fiction.
